      I love Jim Caviezel. His Christian witness and his boldness in proclaiming his faith is inspiring. A beautiful human being. He has a sweetness of character which I believe reflects his devotion to God.

      It’s interesting that I did a study on this very subject a while back when Jim spoke on it. And this time around I thought about just letting his interpretation slide re St. Paul’s seeming name change. After all, a goodly portion of Christendom (myself included) has heard sermons for a very long time that Saul’s name was changed to “Paul” when he laid his religious past aside and followed Jesus. But is this accurate? Is that what the Bible teaches?

      Name origins are sometimes convoluted. Latin became the language of Rome and the subsequent Roman Empire a couple of centuries before Jesus’s birth. St. Paul was a Roman citizen. That was not the case for all Jews who were subjects of Rome. And being a citizen of Rome gave a person many privileges…privileges of which Paul took advantage when necessary. And he used his Roman name where it benefitted him.

      In looking at my notes I found that “Paul” is the Anglicized version of “Paulus” which is the Latin version of “Shaul”, a Hebrew name, which in English means “asked for” or “prayed for.” It also means “ask or question.” It was, of course, the name of the first King of Israel. “Saul” is simply the English version of “Shaul.” The name “Paulus” comes from the Latin word “parvus or parvulus” meaning “tiny, small, humble, modest.”

      As Paul became the missionary to the non-Jewish peoples (Gentiles), he less and less used his Hebrew name. The Book of Acts indicates that the first time a name different from Shaul was used was when he was in Cyprus long after his conversion (Acts, 13th chapter). When he was with Greeks, he used the name “Paulos.” The people of Cyprus spoke Greek (Alexander the Great conquered the island) and likely Latin since it was a Roman province in the mid-1st Century. And the Romans believed that language was a way to bind together their various provinces.

      I’m not trying to be unduly dismissive of other people’s heartfelt interpretations or what they view as a revelation or certainly not to ruffle any feathers or be a smarty-pants. But remember the old adage…question everything. It’s how we grow in knowledge. Question what I’m saying. There are many scholarly articles and studies on this aspect of St. Paul’s life. It is a study well worth doing.

    Mornin’ All. Humid here. I was all hot and sweaty by the time I had put my shoes on and tied them for our walk. And, that was in the air conditioning. 🙄 Well, today is the day at CPAC. We get to see Trump speak this afternoon. I hope and pray everything goes well. I am more and more impressed with Christy Noell. Knowing she took over running her family’s ranch at 22 yrs made me understand why she comes across like she does. Hope everyone has a nice day. 🙂

    Morning all…Yesterday we saw a six hour snowfall and all the ground is white again this morning. Don’t think it will last long tho’ as it’s a beautiful morning and the sun is shining brightly. 30 degrees at the moment and hopeful that temperatures may get to over 40 today.

      Morning! Almost all of our snow is gone – patches on the grass and on the north side of the house. Rain for us today, and a high of 54! Temps up and down all week, but working our way towards spring!

    This is a fairly long read, but I think it lays out a future path, with or without DJT. In my mind, it captures the essence of what President Trump was doing. Us v. Them, but framing it in a bit of a different way. Not nationalism, but class warfare. I like it

      I do like a lot of this, but still reading …

      Might be a good basis for a post.

      I’m worried about what I see over at the neighbors’ house – mainly a large number of the comments are negative, negative! A good portion are looking for a savior in a passive way. Many seem to have given up. Others appear to be promoting insurrection as the only path.

      I often wonder if some of them are purposely promoting division in the ranks. It certainly looks that way.

    Did anybody watch Maria Baritoromo this morning. She was interviewing Peter Navarro and he said what he thought Trump should do. I listened to it 4 times and I don’t understand exactly what he said because he ran it all together. He said Trump has to get rid of McConnell, Cheney, and (somebody else). But, after that he said Trump should, or should not, be listening to a whole list of people. That Is the part I didn’t understand.

    A couple weeks ago, we heard about Bill Gates now being the largest US owner of farmland. On the heals of that, we now have this report that most of the “prime” farm ground has lost most of its topsoil, and is much less fertile, which means it is “unsustainable”. What kind of farming is Bill proposing……….sustainable farming, which is also part of the Great Reset. Funny how this all works, isn’t it? No. The correct answer is no.

    This is Part III of a series, Parts I and II are embedded in this piece. It talks about how the left has turned everything into a gaslighting, how the pieces come together, get funded, and then all of a sudden, we’ve got a leftie problem “solved” after billions and billions of dollars have changed hands into those who are the only ones who can do the righteous things the right way. It should turn your stomach, and it’s proof of what a lot of us have suspected, but someone took the time and effort to connect the dots in one place. Each piece is about 5 minutes reading time. Take the 15 minutes over the next couple days. I’m not sure if you’ll thank me, or hate me. This ties into my thing right above here about the sustainable farming, too. It’s how the left does everything……….because it works.
