      That first picture reminded me of a friend of my mother’s that we visited several times. They lived in Arizona on the edge of Phoenix, I believe it was. There was a tiny room that had a setee with a coffee table in front of it, next to some French doors. She had a silver tea set that she took in there every morning on a silver tray and had tea. I just loved having tea with her there.

        Yes, tea time was a welcome and relaxing break in the days when many families of varied economic status had tea sets. It was how you entertained family and strangers alike…tea along with finger sandwiches and small desserts.

        For years my gal pals and I would go to tea shops and luxury hotels to have tea time. Some of my fondest memories.

      Yesterday, Steele, the RNC chairman, told, Trump supporters to leave the Republican party that they were no longer welcome there”.
      If people joining the Republican party added to the ones Steele told to leave, their could be a massive 3d Victory in 2024.
      Blue collar, working class people are voting Republican being the 1st generation to vote Republican. Many of them reaching adulthood before they realized it was the just Republican party and not the “Damned Republican Party”

    Mornin’ All. Hope your weather wherever you are is better today. I won’t tell you how nice it is here. 🙄 I am watching an interview of a coach and his wife in Texas talking about how they are feeding the high school players that are in this school because of the problems with the electricity and water. I love the stories of people stepping up. Gotta go get some breakfast. It is my friend’s birthday and I am going up to have lunch with her and give her her presents. Later

    G’day all, hope everyone is having a nice day. It’s warmer to 34 and the heavy winds have subsided so it’s lovely outside. I hear birds chirping and it sounds so good.
    I’ve spent the morning contacting my cable supplier, Coca Cola and my reps to voice my displeasure about companies endorsing racism and politicians deciding what content I’m allowed to view with my cable service.

    It’s a world filled with angst-ridden fools with an agenda against whites, men, the right, President Trump and any that supported him. It’s a great time for sorting the wheat from the chaff though.

    Today, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 561 new COVID-19 cases. This is one of Minnesota`s lowest numbers since the pandemic peaked. Minnesota has continued to experience positive outcomes –cases, hospitalizations, deaths– the last couple of weeks. On February 21st, for instance, Minnesota had a total of 235 people hospitalized for COVID-19. This is 87% less than the November peak of 1864.

    This is a trend that we can also see nationwide. Regardless of measures in place, states are seeing a drop in cases and deaths nationally, albeit not at the same rate of change. In the past 6 weeks, COVID-19 cases have dropped 77%.

      I inherited a lot of Victorian items. Some of my favorites are the tea and chocolate sets. My mom used to do a high tea every so often and use them. I really should do the same.

      There was a time when all the women in my family gathered together to attend a weekend “girls retreat” and the high light was to be a tea party. There were great- grandmothers, grandmothers, mothers * children amongst all of us who had gathered.

      When the invitations went out, the guest was required to commit to wearing their current pajamas and bathrobes, a hat from 1950 or older and elbow length silk gloves and attendance at the tea party was mandatory.

      There was huge amount of individual satisfaction & fun had in the weeks leading up to the tea party. Antique shops and boutiques were scoured in the search for hats and gloves. Closets were re-discovered in looking for ‘mom’ or ‘grandmas’ old things. Sewing machines and needles were brought out to patch well worn nightwear.

      The tea table was set with beautiful china that each member had inherited, pinky fingers were raised , the relating of the escapades behind each individual woman’s ‘ensemble’ began and a right and proper tea party was had by all.

        When my friends and I held our monthly teas, we always dressed to the daytime nines including hats, gloves and best jewelry. We’d all met either through a company we worked for or were included as friends of one of the gals. Our mothers were invited if they lived locally or were visiting.

        One year when we went to L.A.’s Chinatown, a gal invited her son who was an expert on Chinese and Japanese porcelain. He took us on a tour of his favorite antique stores in the area. To this day I regret not purchasing a lovely translucent yellow jade bowl we saw in a special shop where he knew the owners.

        I was always the official photographer. One year one of the gals gave each of us special photo books which she’d inscribed in beautiful calligraphy. It’s great fun to get out that photo book and subsequent books and reminisce on the group–absolutely the finest ever, with no backbiting or jealousy or unkindness or gossip. Just superb women.

        Four of the group are gone now and the rest of us are scattered to different parts of the country, keeping in touch via email and the occasional phone call. All of us, though, recognize that for those moments in time, we were so very blessed.

    Feel sorry for me (and Tucker too). /s

    Tucker has had diarrhea and vomiting over the past two days. I had nausea medication for him and gave him some. Restricting his diet to small amounts of bland food (plain yogurt, canned pumpkin and cooked egg) and he is doing well today.

    Meanwhile, he vomited in at least nine places on my living room carpet yesterday. Fortunately the diarrhea was restricted to the mattress in his bed (the cover is waterproof).

    I have ordered a new carpet shampoo machine since my old one was destroyed in the 2020 basement sewer backup event. Can’t wait!

      Squeaks is what I consider a “puker cat”. He’s long haired so he constantly hacks up hairballs and all the muck associated. Having this knowledge I laid down tile and linoleum in every room of the house, with the exception of the bedroom, and don’t ya know it, Squeak’s preference for puking is on the bedroom carpet. Drives me nuts:0)

        He has free access to three rooms. One has vinyl flooring, one has wood flooring, and one has carpet. The carpet is what he almost always chooses.

        I had a ‘puker cat’ named Pookie that my compter guy re-named Pukie after he covered my keyboard one time. Computer guy used a pencil eraser to clean every contact (back in the 1980’s). Pookie died at 12 years old from IBD, and it was horrible. I later read that fish cat food can cause hypersensitivity and trigger IBD. He was abandoned by his mom in the yard behind the warehouse where my office was; I waited a day but she never came back for him, so I had to bottle-feed him for a couple of weeks. He commuted with me in the car, and when we’d go to the vet, he’d just sit in my arms watching the other animals come and go. Defended me once from two stray dogs that hooked up with me on a run one morning; I was trying to chase them away when I got home, and Pookie thought I was in danger. He attached himself to the side of one then pursued the yelping dogs over the side of a hill before he came back dusting off his paws to check on my well being. A dear, sweet companion through some tumultous times.

      Oh my, you poor dear! What a miserable issue to deal with. Did he eat something he shouldn’t have? Is he otherwise acting ill? One of the best things for dogs with diarrhea is cooked rice, about a half a cup at a time twice a day. Hope the boy is better soon!

        Yes, I think he ate something he should not have (common with him, and I try to be very careful what I leave out, especially when I am not in the room). If given the opportunity, he will eat kleenex, paper towels and paper napkins. In the past he has also eaten a silicone keyboard cover (it came back up), hair ties, and a mitten. I think he may have eaten a small fingerless glove, but that would have been a week or so ago, but I am keeping a good eye on him.

        The diarrhea and vomiting seem to have ceased, so I am just continuing a bland diet. I might cook up some rice too. Pumpkin is very good for both diarrhea and constipation, and yogurt is good for probiotics/digestion, if the dog isn’t lactose intolerant (I don’t think he is.)

        He is much perkier today and looking for more food!

      After years of cleaning up after our dogs and cats, hen Czar and I built this house we chose ceramic tile throughout. Mostly we have been fortunate that the critters hit the floor, but there is the occasional fur ball throw up on the bed. The worst is when I don’t notice it until I crawl in and have a cold wet spot…..

    Oh my gosh. After I came back from taking my friend to a restaurant for her birthday, I took Loki for a walk, and when I got to the other end of my building a big dog burst out of the door and came after Loki. I started screaming (of course) and tried to get the attention of the dog, but his only attention was on Loki. A neighbor to the owner (their doors are right next to each other) banged on her door and came to help me. I had picked Loki up and didn’t know what I was going to do next. I can’t find any bites on her. And, the little dummy never backed away, she tried to go after this dog who was 16 times her weight and who had a head about the size of her whole body.

    Thank goodness for the neighbor for coming out to help me. She said that the woman often doesn’t make sure the door is closed all the way. Oh, and the doors open to the outside, not inside so the dog can push it open. It looks like a Great Pyrenees or something like it. The max weight here is 60 lbs. The woman came down to the door, but said she had a baby upstairs and couldn’t go after the dog. Too bad for her. I understand, but I am calling the office tomorrow and filling them in on what happened. I would be willing to bet money that the dog is not registered. Loki seems to be all right. I don’t think he got his teeth in her anywhere. But, I was a wreck.

    The House vote is on Thursday where it will likely pass since Nancy seems to have a total grip on those hapless denizens…but pray anyway for the House and those in the Senate who just may still have consciences and a love for their country, that they will vote against turning our nation over to the Marxists…
