Good morning, Lucille! I’m very familiar with the St. Clair River at Port Huron. Used to sail with friends in that area. Berthed on the Black River every year for the start of the Port Huron to Mackinac sailing race.
ADD: The Blue Water Bridge was our usual route to visit my step-grandparents in Kelvin, Ontario, Canada.

Good morning, Stella! I had a feeling that you’d know all about the port. It’s fun to find out you loved sailing. Me, too, and have many fond memories of sailing with one of my uncles and cousins.

Morning Lucille, 🙂
My goodness it looks like Quebec has been built up more since the last time I was there, but that was 25 years ago! We’d go to the more picturesque old, (tourist) section anyway. I would have liked to go to their huge winter carnival. I wonder if they still have it. It looked like a lot of fun.
The trees in the Bucharest photo look like those lacy toffee wafers – Oh No! you can see where my heads at – Thinking of no sweets for Lent!

Good morning, G&C! I was in Montreal just once and that was in 1965. And, yes, it looks completely different now.
I won’t tempt you by posting any photos of boxes of chocolates.

I’m with you there, G&C. DH and I gave up desserts/sweets/chocolate for Lent. Now we’re 5 days into it and I think longingly of them about 20 times a day! Especially dark chocolate. Hardest part is that my birthday is almost always during Lent, and nothing says birthday like Death By Chocolate cake! Oh well…35 days to go…

Sad but true Wee.
I was just thinking of that photo essay of the trash and destruction left in DC around the White House etc. linked to here yesterday. I’m guessing the mayor of DC would not let Trump clean and fix it up because it must have driven him nuts being a neat freak and all. The Bidens and their entourage had to walk past that to get to the White House. I wonder why they haven’t fixed it. I bet the mayor would let them do it.
I then looked at my folder of architecture pictures to post and many were of state capitals which are just beautiful. I wonder how long before they destroy the great art murals in these public buildings. They apparently just have this drive to destroy?

Good day to you, WeeWeed! More outrages to come, for sure.
The goal of every hateful U. S. socialist/communist and other fellow traveler is to “disappear” all traces of President Trump’s Presidency. If they have to destroy the coal, oil and gas industries; sign us up once again to the phony Paris Accords; put millions out of work; wreck our military; lie about the Wuhan vaccine; invite back to America all the illegal aliens who were deported from noon, 1-20-17 to noon, 1-20-21; try to invalidate the 1st and 2nd Amendments; cheat and commit fraud in our elections; further compromise the GOPe; coddle our foreign enemies; pay for abortions all around the world; play footsie with the CCP; well, that’s what they’ll do.
Such is their collective psychosis.

Mornin’ All. It is 61* and pleasant here today. There are some clouds in the sky. There were a few small clouds that all put together, looked like a little doggie with a long tail. :). It was really cute. I have to get breakfast and get going this morning. I have a massage at 11:00. Loki is back to eating like normal. I think she had eaten something she was allergic to or a bug who stung her. I was sure her snout was swollen, but it had gone down enough when she saw the vet that they couldn’t see it. And, I think the fleas are a separate problem. Oh, well. Have a nice day.

I really like looking at cloud formations too. 😉
Good news about Loki. 😉
Isn’t that the way whether it’s the doctor, vet or auto mechanic, by the time you get there the symptoms can’t be found!

“Russian miners unearthed a gemological oddity—a type of rare diamond called a Matryoshka diamond. Scientists believe the diamond to be about 800 million years old. It is thought to be the only one on the planet and the first of its kind, but has not yet been assigned a monetary value, according to a statement. An air pocket nestled inside the diamond contains an even tinier diamond that rattles when shook. Named for the famed Russian nesting doll toys”
OH! OH! I want a toy like that! 🙂

We had another 14 hours of Chinooks roaring thru here last night, and the results from the wind are absolutely fascinating to see. Yesterday there were four and six foots drifts of snow for as far as the eye could see. This morning those drifts have been melted, there is more bare ground than not and there is standing water everywhere.
It is 45 degrees this morning…literally 80 degrees warmer than last week and I am lovin’ the warmth…..

Here’s an article on the long-lost Russian royal jewels. This tiara is absolutely exquisite and is called the “Wheat Sheaf.” The photo was taken for the auction at which it was sold in 1927 and then it disappeared forever….
“This diadem with an original design also belonged to Maria Feodorovna. It consists of golden “flax ears” decorated with diamonds with a set a leuco sapphire (a colorless sapphire symbolizing the sun) in the center. A rare photograph of it was taken in 1927 for a Christie’s auction at which the Bolsheviks sold off the Romanov jewels. Nothing is known about the diadem’s subsequent fate following the auction.”
What happened to these priceless Romanov tiaras after 1917 Revolution?

Beautiful. Now that is a tiara I would like to wear.

Oh, yes! That big sapphire must have been spectacular in person. The sheer artistry of this tiara is stunningly delicate. Incidentally, the author calls this artwork a diadem. I wrote tiara. But there is a difference…I looked it up and found…”The main difference between Diadem and Tiara is that the Diadem is a ornamental headband worn by monarchs and others as a badge of royalty and Tiara is a head ornament.”
Apparently us UN-ROYAL SOULS can wear a tiara (though monarchs get to wear these also), but only royalty wears diadems. LOL! I did note that the diadem pictured has little loops on either side at the bottom. That’s where either a chain or a ribbon of some kind can be inserted to keep it secured when worn further down on the forehead than a tiara would be.
Oh, the things a person learns when there is too much time on one’s hands.
LikeLiked by 3 people
LOL That’s interesting. I wondered what those little loops were for. And, also, I wondered if it was worn down on the forehead or across the center of the head.

Oooo Lucille, my heart just did a flutter…..What a beautiful piece. Oh and the rest of the pieces in the article aren’t too shabby either…..
A couple of weeks ago I was reading about another crown “lost to history”. A crown made and worn by Henry VII or Henry VIII was worn by Charles I in 1631. In 1641 Oliver Cromwell defeated Charles I and after beheading Charles, Cromwell order the crown melted down and turned into coins.
I am hopeful that the “Wheat Sheaf” tiara did not suffer the same fate and that someday it will be “found”.

Poor ole Charles I…another monarch who met his demise in part because of heavy taxation. I intensely dislike anyone destroying works of art. What an awful shame that the crown was done away with and made into coins which apparently are no longer around either.
Thank goodness all the beautiful British royal jewelry, once Cromwell was out of the way, has remained in safe hands.

And much of royal British jewels came from Russia and Germany.

Holy cow, ‘maus! That’s an amazing temperature change. I’m so happy for you! I’m at that point in winter of just being tired of snow, which we’re supposed to get more of for the next 5 days (and probably most of the next month). The snow pack on the roof of the house is about 2 feet deep. The longer daylight is wonderful; the sun is rising at 8:15 and setting at 6:20 now, and increasing by about 5 minutes a day. And we haven’t had a cold winter (so far) at all, mostly staying between +10-20 degrees. But my eyes are beginning to long for some green. We won’t see grass until the middle of April. Hopefully Stella and Lucille will be posting lots of jonquil and daffodil photos to help me out!

Good to know that 74% of our President’s supporters go against what the lying media is trying to put out that we all are Q people. Honestly, if someone posts a bunch of cryptic phrases and it takes several others to interpret the words, come onnnnn. Game playing.

US spent $787,000,000 on ‘gender equality’ projects in Afghanistan
February 21, 2021 By ROBERT SPENCER
And it’s likely that no one who allocated or spent this money had any idea why women are discriminated against in Afghanistan, and why “harmful socio-cultural norms” kept them from making major progress. They have no clue about this because it’s all about Islam, which is likewise not mentioned in the article below. All too many on the side of freedom become as politically correct as any leftist when it comes to Islam, jihad, and Sharia.
The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34
