        Good day to you, lovely! Hope you are feeling better. I’ve always loved to walk. Every city I’ve ever visited go the up-close view via walking. That’s probably the thing I miss most about my life now.

          A sad note about Joyce Kilmer. He was killed in WWI, age 31. From Wiki:

          During the Second Battle of Marne there was heavy fighting throughout the last days of July 1918. On July 30, 1918, Kilmer volunteered to accompany Major “Wild Bill” Donovan (later, in World War II, the founder of the Office of Strategic Services, forerunner to the Central Intelligence Agency) when Donovan’s battalion (1–165th Infantry) was sent to lead the day’s attack.

          During the course of the day, Kilmer led a scouting party to find the position of a German machine gun. When his comrades found him, some time later, they thought at first that he was peering over the edge of a little hill, where he had crawled for a better view. When he did not answer their call, they ran to him and found him dead. According to Father Francis P. Duffy: “A bullet had pierced his brain. His body was carried in and buried by the side of Ames. God rest his dear and gallant soul.”A sniper’s bullet likely killed him immediately. According to military records, Kilmer died on the battlefield near Muercy Farm, beside the Ourcq River near the village of Seringes-et-Nesles, in France, on July 30, 1918 at the age of 31. For his valor, Kilmer was posthumously awarded the Croix de Guerre (War Cross) by the French Republic.

          Kilmer also wrote one of my mother’s favorite poems:

          The House With Nobody In It

          Whenever I walk to Suffern along the Erie track
          I go by a poor old farmhouse with its shingles broken and black.
          I suppose I’ve passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute
          And look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it.

          I never have seen a haunted house, but I hear there are such things;
          That they hold the talk of spirits, their mirth and sorrowings.
          I know this house isn’t haunted, and I wish it were, I do;
          For it wouldn’t be so lonely if it had a ghost or two.

          This house on the road to Suffern needs a dozen panes of glass,
          And somebody ought to weed the walk and take a scythe to the grass.
          It needs new paint and shingles, and the vines should be trimmed and tied;

            Beautiful poem. He had a way of wringing emotion out of the simple things of life…showing, I guess, that life is anything but simple.

            I’ve never read this poem, but it kind of echoes feelings I have when I see old places. It it is an abandoned house I wonder about the families who lived there, and where they went when they left the house.

            Near my home is the end of the Riverwalk, which actually is near the river, but you can’t see it. It gores miles through downtown along the river and out the other side ending at a dam. My end of the walk goes through old abandoned foundries and I always think of how many people worked there, and the past days with all the work going on, people filling the many buildings and the cracked and abandoned huge parking lots full of cars, train cars pulled alongside on the tracks, a truck on the big scale, waiting for the all clear.

            It sounds like a terrible blight to have a nice riverwalk go through, but in actuality it is haunting and attractive in a strange way. It crosses a big creek that was once a dumping site, and they’ve got a great bridge now, and beautiful views.

            All around the city has built up, but not here, the ground is contaminated.

    Well, SOMEbody really pissed off a local TV station, their news tonite started off with a story of the usual large (hundreds of people) black community gatherings along Claiborne Avenue in NOLA. Now these have been going on for years and continued during the so-called lockdown, they were alluded to for a while in the news but suddenly and mysteriously disappeared.

    Right with the report, complete with videos of the unmasked revelers, was the observation that the mayor went tooth and nail after the Christian music event in the Quarter while ignoring the black gathering on the same day, as the city has that and other black gatherings for months.

    The videos were shot on Sunday and it took almost 3 days for the story to hit the air, it feels as if there were some arguments at higher station levels about airing it, but when it did air it did so on the heavily watched 10 o:clock broadcast, lead story and it was obvious they were accusing the mayor of having a double standard.       I’ve harped on this for a long time, mentioned it just before this election. Two states, Connecticut and Delaware (Biden state) allow non-residents to vote in municipal elections and ten states (including Arizona) allow non-residents to vote in municipal and special district elections. There are laws in Arizona that prohibit non-US citizens from voting but the line at the polls between non-resident and non-citizen can be blurry and, while there’s a voter ID law in place, the ‘ID’ can be as flimsy as a utility bill or a piece of mail addressed to the voter at the listed address.

      You throw in those gerrymandered Hispanic districts that do not depend on the number of Hispanic citizens, just residents, and you have a estofado de fraude electoral. You also have movements in heavily Hispanic Southwest and Leftcoast states to allow non-citizen residents to vote in all state and local elections – after all they live there, right? Watch what that does to the national elections.

      Win or lose this election the Democrats have the 2020 census in their lap, they are targeting 13 states (see here https://democraticredistricting.com/) for Democratic gerrymandering, whining about the unfairness of Republican gerrymandering. If you look at the site you’ll see the group’s being led by none other than Eric Holder, who’s seen on the first page standing right next to Obama…get the message? Among the states targeted are Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona and Pennsylvania – all major red states they need to flip. See the emphasis on counting EVERYONE, citizen or not, in this census? We get that redistricting done, they flip the state legislatures and that non-citizen voters thing looks more viable.

        Years back in the early 2000’s I went into the details of the census website. It said even the “actual” census numbers were really estimates. A few years later the website changed, and I could no longer find this admission.

          I worked the 2010 census, still have the training manual, and while accuracy was stressed as important the big item they hammered us on regularly(more so than the body count) was making sure we recorded the GPPS coordinates of every structure on its front porch or apartment at its front door. There were checkers who followed upon us, doing the GPS thing even if they couldn’t verify the body count. We were told to violate ‘no trespassing’ signs and jump locked gates to get those readings (more than one worker found out that cows jes ain’t friendly) as they were important. The decennial census is really now much more than a national headcount.

      Same thing in NH. If you can’t prove citizenship when you come in for same day registration, you just sign a form saying you are a citizen. The form has what the legal penalties are if you’re lying. Then you vote.

      The 1993 (iirc) law that says a state must choose either motor voter or same day registration allows a lot more voter fraud IMHO.

      From what I have read NH is also a state that uses Dominion. Maybe that’s how we got a dem supposedly for president and congress, but everything else was a huge red wave – governor, state house, executive council. It makes no sense.

      BTW, If I read the poorly written, confusing NH gov’t website correctly, if you REGISTER – not vote but REGISTER by mail, you do not have to prove citizenship, but if you register in person you have to prove citizenship or sign the above mentioned form. Shouldn’t this be illegal? I have complained to multiple people and nobody cares.

      Also, just before the election a judge ruled that out-of-state college students living at home in another state but taking classes at a NH college online could vote in NH!!! It’s bad enough out-of-state college students swing elections in NH when they are here for classes, but now they don’t even physically have to be here!!!

      How crazy is the out-of-state college student situation in NH? Well an out-of-state student ran for state wide office in NH and won, but when covid hit, he could not come back from his home state of California to go to the NH statehouse so he had to give up his seat – YA – WE’RE THAT SCREWED UP AND NOBODY IN “REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP” GIVES A D@MN!!!
      Maybe Corey L can come back to NH and fix the absurd voter fraud here /sarc. Apparently NH’s 4 electoral votes don’t matter to the state republican party or even Trump.

      It disgusts me.

        Morning Menagerie are you familiar with Father Swizdor? He was one of my introductions into faith. He had a laying on of hands healing service, very powerful.

        We were at one of his healing service in Sonoma CA. My mother in Law asked him to pray for strength for her. He enfolded her hands and said “Momma, never pray for strength, we get strength through trial, pray for grace to bear your cross.”

        I was not Catholic at the time but this made a huge impact on me. Yuuge.

        At this time I was also pregnant with my first daughter and I asked him to pray over her rather than me, he placed his hands on my belly, daughter was maybe 3 months at the time, I felt her leap like a frog all over the womb, the next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor of the church, full of peace, thankfully my husband was behind me and caught me as I fell.

        My friend keeps saying she wants all this to end. I keep telling her it is going to get much worse before it gets better, even if it ever does. I just don’t want her to be blindsided. She needs to be prepared emotionally. She does listen to me. Before she bought a new car, I worked on making her remember to lock her car doors when she went somewhere. She made sure her doors lock automatically when she bought her new one.

          I have a neighborhood friend (who lives conservative but is poorly informed – I feed her articles and info and she takes it in) I stay in contact with by phone these days, since we’re not allowed in one another’s houses. Had a good conversation with her today and she was talking about ladies she knows who are “so scared of Covid they won’t leave their houses” and she followed that factual report with this, “No one can live like that!’

          I pointed out to her that – yes, indeed, individuals can choose to live like that and will do so if they are filled with fear and believe it is expected of them.

          There are many people who don’t believe what IS happening and think it will somehow just get better and will become a mysterious memory.

            Most of her friends are afraid and won’t leave their homes. My friend just wants to go and do things. Besides she knows we both had COVId back in Dec. So, she isn’t afraid of it at all. She just hates having to put a mask on in the stores.

      Good afternoon, WeeWeed. An appropriate sign for our leftie opposition.

      I was just thinking about why the condemnation of lying is so important? Whenever a politician knowingly, boldly lies…in other words, with deliberation and not just because he’s misinformed…then we know what and who is influencing him. I’m not talking about jokes or satire or exaggeration to make a point–though a person has to watch how far he can take those things before it goes into maliciousness. The Father of Lies guides every unrepentant heart. The more we allow those who are in government to lie without consequences, the more lies will lead to other sins which will affect the daily lives of the nation’s people.

    Mornin’ all. It has been raining all night. Still a little windy, but it has already died down. We got 3 1/2 inches yesterday and last night and it is still raining this morning. I am enjoying this weather, but it makes me feel sleepy. I haven’t even had breakfast yet, and I am ready for a nap. 🙄

    This answers the big question. It is a done deal, this is why Pompeo said there will be a peaceful transition to the second Trump administration.

    Only part he gets wrong (perhaps by design to keep the enemies of America as confused by President Trump as they already are) is that maybe Trump will get tired of the fight.

      Well explained, but I wish he hadn’t misspoken a couple of times.
      1. There are not 475 members in the US House of Representatives, there are 435.
      2. Republicans do not hold 37 states in the House; DH thinks it is 31, I’ve read it is 26.
      3. If it comes down to a House vote, it will not be “just before the inauguration”, it will be in December.

        My apologies Tundra, understand your concern for precise information when our Republic is at risk.

        (Shane did correct this on Youtube and Parler but he is a bit sketchy about his error of 37 v 26 and still incorrect because he says he was going with pre 2020 vote numbers which is obviously not true. He has his PHD in theology and said he was simply led by the spirt and apologized for his errors .)

        He also addresses his remark about Hillary which I think is an honest and satisfactory answer.)

        But I didn’t even notice he said 475 rather than 435 🙄.

        I am not sure how many states (if any) we picked up in the election but as of a month before the election it stood at 26 Republicans 23 Democrats with PA being a split state.

        I appears that Shane is not a concise talker, he is very casual. But I thought the video was worth his casualness.

        Currently the 20th Amendment sets the date of January 3rd for the vote.

        PS There is also a chance that Shane might be a nut case from the titles of some of his other videos but I haven’t had time to dig into to it. (Just saw them this morning, the original video was sent to me by a friend.)

        On the plus side a guy I have never met but who always has posted very anti Trump responses to my friends facebook posts and was a Biden supporter. (Of course more anti Trump than pro Biden) is actually being courteous and agrees that this election is being stolen. At least he agrees that there is no way to square the numbers with the facts. That is good news and I know he is not the only one.

    Biden pulled ahead in the state by a narrow margin of just over 1,000 votes as of Friday morning.

    Making a new recipe for Creamy Cashew Curry chicken (thighs). Also trying baking brown rice rather than boiling (I don’t have a rice cooker.) I’ll let you all know how it turns out.

    The ‘cream’ part of the dish is cashew cream (cashew nuts and water pulverized in a blender.)

    I just watched Rand Paul on The Story with Martha Macallum. He was talking about the new vaccine and the fact that people who already have the antibodies should be able to go about their business. He made a lot of sense.
