Started out great but with that unorganized storm cluster off of Cuba our TV talking-head weatherguessers are all telling us that it’s probably not coming here but are telling us, with great and irritating detail, how it might not though could come here and destroy all sentient life (Democrats will be spared) life for hundreds of years.

We are supposed to have heavy thunderstorms over a period of two or three hours this afternoon. I will get to see if my basement floods again, or if all of the measures I have taken thus far are working.

Wishing you a dry sump, supposed to rain here too though the Great Giant Weatherheads can’t agree on how much. Guesstimates range from ‘just a trace’to ‘ world-ending deluge.

Thanks. I now have two brand new sump pumps, in two sump pits, and have had all of my drains snaked. Everything, except the washer and dryer, is at least one foot off the floor.

You could always try Democrat logic and raise the basement to the first floor, building anew basement underneath. The old basement that flooded would then be on the first floor and the new basement would lack the original’s flaws and wouldn’t flood!
Your cadre of $15-an-hour-plus workers who can’t speak English will be there tomorrow…ish.

Yep. Satire is really hard to do these days with people thinking President Trump said to inject bleach in their veins and that kids are riding coyotes over the border. Not to mention CNN viewers have no idea about the Biden emails.

I also heard an interview with one of the social workers, who said many parents don’t want their kids back (parents are in Central America) b/c the kids are in the US and the parents want them to stay there (anchors, I think).

Just occurred to me, here the Feds have wanted to make$15 an hour minimum wage in the civilian sector but under Federal civil service pay scales you don’t hit $15 an hour as starting until GS-6, GS-5 beginning pay is $14.43 hourly and at GS-6 it jumps to $16.08.
All these years the Rats have been waving the minimum wage flag at the civilian sector and they leave so much of their own pay scales at below $15 starting.

Which first responders and where? Police, fire and EMTs all start at city pay scales of better than $16 an hour though if you jiggle the figures and include ‘police’and EMTs who work for private providers you get a lower figure.
There are also 1st responders who work for very small cities that can’t afford big city salaries as they don’t have the tax base, they won’t have EMTs or firefighter generally, relying on volunteers and paying LEA a lower salary. That said, those working for a lesser salary can always work elsewhere.

LORD GOD, I ask in all humility that YOU bless this country as unworthy as we are.
Protect it from every evil. Protect it from the enemy. Protect it LORD that it may accomplish THY will and keep THY commandments.
I ask LORD with a pleading heart to look down upon us in our unworthiness.
Give this country a renewal of devotion to YOU, to YOUR law and to YOUR commandments, LORD.
Let us be once more a country under YOU, LORD. May we once more say “in GOD we trust”.
Guide us, and protect this country from every evil and every harm.

Looks like the first seriously cold Hammer of Winter is going to come down on litenmaus (maybe lovely and Stella also?) this weekend. Deep cold, high wind and heavy snow. Minus 20 degrees is brutal in January, much less October! Stay warm and dry, dear friends!

Sunday is supposed to be the worst of it. Just seems way too early to be THAT cold! We’re below freezing at night, but still having sunny days that warm up to the upper 40s. I love my fleece-lined jeans from L.L. Bean, my SmartWool socks and my fleece vests. We’ve had no snow at all yet, but won’t be much longer before we do.

I have so much respect for her. She doesn’t say a bad word about anything and I understand she never complains. When she and Julia Roberts were in Steel Magnolias, Roberts says she was hot and miserable and she asked Dolly if she weren’t uncomfortable and Dolly said she wanted to be famous and she is so she never complains. Or, something to that effect. Roberts said that shut her up.
