Music of the day – Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall.

Autumn Leaves. Written in 1945. Music by Hungarian-French composer Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert. The Hungarian title is “Hulló levelek” (Falling Leaves).

“Autumn Leaves” sung by anyone is wonderful. Nat Cole was my mother’s favorite male singer.

    Here’s my autumn offering…

Cellist Luka Sulic plays “L’Autunno (Autumn) Op. 8 No. 3 in F major: I. Allegro” by Antonio Vivaldi. Luka is the first person to arrange THE FOUR SEASONS for the cello and to record it in its entirety.
