Good afternoon Lucille 🙂 !
If we weren’t going out for lunch and a walk I would have bought this arrangement on Saturday. I know it would have wilted in my car 😦 !

Beautiful! “Just pretty nigh good enough to eat” as Jett Rink would say! Are sunflowers edible other than the seeds?

Whoever discovers a way to prevent the kitties from turning that rather innocuous dry cat food they eat into whatever that is they leave in the cat box deserves to be awarded the Poolitzer Prize. I wuz going to save that for Caturday but wuz afraid I’d forget it.

A hot ‘un with humidity on the way. One of the problems about living surrounded by trees is they not only hold the humidity but each one kicks out about a hundred gallons of sweat a day. Then again it STILL beats living in NOLA.

Good morning, WeeWeed! Ah, yes, He-Who-Cannot-Be-Criticized-Or-Held-Accountable! Same old, same old. He’ll look good in orange (yes, please, God!).

Mornin’ all. Well, this is shaping up to be an interesting day. I made my regular tea this morning. I don’t know where I put the sweetner and the lemon juice. It apparently wasn’t in my cup of tea. 🙄 Going to have an ear test this afternoon. That should be interesting. Then we will find some place to eat. A lot seems to be open here now.

You could always ask the audiologist if s/he’s heard of a good place to eat?

I got the cardiologist this afternoon and he’s right down the street from a Popeye’s AND a huge pizza parlor. Is that a keen bit of business planning or what?

Yeah, we went eat Vietnamese instead though I did have egg rolls, bbq pork and rice noodles. The iced tea was healthy.

Good morning, aus! We’re at 75 out right now, heading to 86 with a 36% humidity. Oh, to be sitting on the beach somewhere!

Afternoon Aus, there have been a few times I have steeped my tea only to realize I forgot to put the tea in it 🙂.

G’Mornin’ all. Another beautiful day in Paradise.
Beautiful Caddy, Stella.
Does it get any better than a full-size Caddy made in Detroit with Real U.S. Steel and Real Tires made in Akron?

I loved the big convertibles! Cadillac, of course, but also Oldsmobile and Pontiac. The parents of a good high school friend had two – a white Caddy with red leather interior and a blue Pontiac. His mother used to let me drive the Pontiac sometimes.

If I win da lot-tree I’m going to buy a refurbished, rebuilt 1989 Chrysler 5th Avenue. No particular reason, I just really like that particular tank. Oh yeah, a 1967/68 Mercedes sedan too…diesel with the turbocharger.

When a friend of mine was stationed in Germany, he bought a 1966 Mercedes 4-door to drive around. When his time there was up, he had it shipped back to the U.S. I think he said it was cheaper doing that than buying one here. It was chocolate brown with camel interior and rode like a dream.
I seem to have better recall for things that happened in my youth than what I had for lunch yesterday. LOL!

Yeah, in the early and mid-60s you could buy a used Mercedes there for peanuts, every butcher wanted to show off his post-war success by showing off a new Merc. I could kick myself for not buying one and shipping it home but it had to be shipped to a US shop that was cleared to make them stateside legal with new glass, headlights, etc.

Lucky you! being allowed to drive it. My best friend’s mom had a new Caddy every year. We were allowed a ride, from time to time.

My father bought a used car, usually 7+ years old, and drove until he could not fix it anymore. We ALWAYS had tanks b/c he felt his family was safest in them. 1949 Packard, big Buicks & Pontiacs. We never had a new car.

I am odd I enjoy parallel parking, maybe because it wasn’t an option and I am good at it. I like to impress my girls and squeeze my little SUV into tiny spots.

Bezos discovers that $17 million doesn’t buy much protection from the mobs
By Thomas Lifson – August 10, 2020
Nobody has benefited more from the riots destroying retail stores in major cities than Amazon, which has seen the brick-and-mortar competition shrinking even faster than before. And the company, founded by Jeff Bezos, has not been shy about donating $10 million to “organizations supporting justice and equity” and subsequently increasing the total to $17 million by matching employee donations.

Seen on Facebook. Good reply, I think.
I was at the election polls with my lifepak pamphlets the tell who in both parties are pro-life. some elderly man that had to be in his late eighties at the least asked me why I was spending time on those little fetuses. I know there were a lot of things that I could have said to him and I could explain to him what the word fetus means but I chose to say one thing only. I said sir you better be careful because once anybody has the right to decide the class of human beings doesn’t have the right to live they can decide that the elderly do not have a right to live and that would include you.

I had a 1975 Bonneville. I got that big car really cheap in 1979, because of the price of fuel! That big baby got 5 GPM! (gallons per mile)! I sure felt safe driving with my baby in the car. My BIL had to pay me gas money to take him back and forth to work! Those were the good old days, lol.

It might be a lark to ride around in a pink Cadillac with some nutty personage. But, seriously, would any of you buy one? I certainly wouldn’t have when I was still able to do so. LOL!
When I was a child in the early 1950s, friends of my parents bought a new baby blue Cadillac every two years. Otherwise, though they had plenty of moolah, they lived in a nice middle-class house with just average furniture. Their children were all grown up, so this sweet older couple spent their hard-earned cash like they wanted. And what they wanted were Cadillacs. Funny, but I couldn’t tell you the names of the majority of folks in my childhood church…most surnames just didn’t remain in the memory bank. But this couple’s name was Arvidson and were real darlings.

This is amazing shooting with a hand gun by the officer.

I can’t believe she shot him. And, yes, that is amazing shooting. She must have felt he was going to kill the hostage to be willing to shoot with him holding on to the hostage.

Waited for the right moment, but with a hand gun? In a tight active situation like that? Nerves of steel. And dead on aim.
