    “How the Tower Formed”
Devils Tower may appear as if it thrust up through the ground, but this dramatic feature was exposed gradually through the processes of weathering and erosion.

We were treated to the sight of the New Orleans Chief-of-Police today, holding a press conference to try and tap dance his way around the spike in shootings in the city.

Latest was a drive-by that killed a 9-year-old boy, media boo-hoo-hooed all over that until one channel came out with the idea that the 9-year-old might have been the target since he had a pretty good rap sheet for a kid not yet 10. Mom was arrested too, seems kid was taken away from her and put in a group home and, when he escaped in May, she apparently hid him. Subsequent to his escaping from the group home and prior to being shot in the head and killed he’d been shot in the leg and his mother hadn’t taken him in for medical treatment. Welcome to the woke world.

This is so horrible. I feel sorry for a child losing his life. However………..this is a child who was going to grow up and kill other people. He just got stopped early.

We used to refer to it as ‘ghetto parenting’. One of my fondest memories is, while we were on a security detail., one of the deputies finding a 3 year old kid in diapers waddling down the street alone. He stopped the kid and asked where his momma was and the kid pointed back down the block. Deputy took him home and the kids momma chewed the deputy out as her child is used to taking $5 and going to the store for her beer and cigarettes.

Back in the 90s the city had a program where police would pick up children on the streets during school hours,. charging them with truancy and taking them to a detention center until their parents showed up. City stooped it partially because a lot of parents didn’t show up, it was ‘you wanna house, feed and take care of him, knock yourself out!’.

Previous NOLA mayors have had to have the National Guard come in a number of times since we’ve been here and it ain’t bands of roving Mormon missionaries they came to control. New media and mayor have successfully lowered innercity crime – they just don’t report it and prevent the police from enforcing the law.

And enough of it’s residents not caring that they are killing their own. Sad. They’ll fight to pass the trash can for dollars but let their children die because snitches get stitches and really combating black on black crime means facing an inconvenient reality.

The residents are scared, few if any of them have ever had their cheery little TV and internet lifestyles, never mind lives, threatened. That, to me, is a big reason why Trump’s numbers are down, Trump represents an active attack against the Left while Biden represents a safer acceptance of compromise. Sure they’ll lose some stuff but it’s for the greater good and the insurgents will be happy, we’ll all hug and make up and the movies will be open again.

I think in normal times, (Pre-President Trump) that the average low information voter would feel this way. I agree that they are scared but I think that because the nation is so divided, because Blexit and Walkaway continue to grow that more people are afraid of Joe Biden’s America being the America that we are seeing today.

I know this is President Trump’s America but I think the campaign’s ads portraying democratic cities full of democratic rioters and terrorists are seen as more of what is to come if Biden is elected whereas with President Trump a re-election will give the PTB a chance to really clamp down on the savages running the streets.

62%of Americans are afraid to talk about their political views. That is a tell.

All politics are local and we’re seeing these riots in major cities with slanted coverage by the major media. Some 80% of Americans live inside of or within a stone’s throw of a major city and that’s what the plotters are counting on – localized fear. I’m betting there’ll be an uptick before the elections.

This ain’t happening in the smaller, more isolated cities, it wouldn’t play and the people in the big city wouldn’t care. This is specifically designed to create an aura of fear and unease which, combined with the Left’s furtherance of the COVID crisis, is designed to make a sizeable number of swing voters swing to safe, avuncular surrender. Remember the pictures of the Jews getting off of the boxcars at the concentration camps?

A lot of people are out. Perhaps part of the larger plan with the Chinese virus was that the empty stadiums and fields could be explained by the pandemic rather than people tuning out because they radicalized it. Just a thought.

Good morning everyone. I didn’t get the outcome I had hoped for yesterday. At least a week more until I can have surgery. The whatchamacallit device is working well, bones are right where the doctor wants them to be, but the swelling is just not going down, and the skin is stretched and abused. So, more waiting.

Thanks so much for all your prayers. I am grateful for all of you.

    • Sorry to hear the swelling has not come down yet, but not too surprised. The doctor is wise to wait if the the inflammation is still too much.

Lovely is right about not moving around too much.

I’m a slow healer and extremely prone to inflammation. When my arm broke it did not heal as fast as they hoped, so they started physical therapy before it had healed. My arm was strapped immobile to my body until the physical therapist undid it and she moved it. I was not allowed to move my arm at all. My point being, moving as little as possible at this time is good. There will be time enough later to move and exercise it, either by the physical therapist, or with the physical therapist’s direction.

I became very good at saying my prayers daily, Sudoku https://www.websudoku.com/ as well as Freecell https://greenfelt.net/freecell, 😉

Very vocal supporter of President Trump. I have to be careful where I am if we are talking on the phone because she is loud and lets her views fly out of her mouth with little regard for who might hear her which is fine if we are physically together. I have to tell her sometimes “Please don’t use the N word!” if we’re on the phone and my lily white self is walking around in public.

Been saying that for years. I have a thin book written over 25 years ago by a member of the Chinese General Staff that outlined their strategic, long term plan for toppling the US and, with a few tweaks, it’s right on schedule. He knew he could publish it and the US would ignore it, we’re predictable and, save for the grace of God, would have been gone years ago. Let’s hope we’re still on Hios Christmas card list.

Great story! Near and dear to my heart, my beautiful bride and I have a son and daughter from Ulianovisk, Russia. Fraternal twins.
Not the same children that we left the USA to adopt, either.
a long story, I may share someday.
I cannot believe it’s been 19 years already, Daughter is in the USMC, son is following the old man’s path, in trade school and working at an auto dealership as mechanic’s apprentice.
Interesting event while in country; our translators were great, but our Driver in Moscow, Vlad, was a lifesaver, literally. Briefly, they tried yet another shakedown when I went to board a plane from Moscow to Ulianovisk. Translator, Olga, with horrified look on her face, told me to go get our driver Vlad, immediately.
I led him to the terminal where the Russian army guys had the translator in tears.
I will NEVER forget the look on their faces, and how ashy they turned, when they saw Vlad.
Vlad ordered them into a backroom and slammed the door behind him. I heard Vlad screaming at these guys, I don’t know what was said, but saw a slight grin appear on Olga’s face. Vlad was the only soul to come out of the room.
Calmly, he said it was now ok to board the plane, have a safe trip, etc.
when I asked Olga WTH just went down, she explained the airport guards were claiming I needed to pay them more money, my duffel was too heavy, I was a yank, and there were threats involved.
      Turns out, Vlad was high-ranking ex-KGB Ba-dass.

Just one crazy event of MANY on that odyssey.

It is worth mentioning that every private Russian citizen who helped us realize our dreams were WONDERFUL people, from those described above to the ladies running the orphanages, medical personnel and staff, the notaries, court-approved translators, even the kids were helpful. We wanted to adopt them all, and even asked about a nine-year-old, who fortunately was on track to be adopted by a dentist’s family in Atlanta, Ga.
Kids lives matter in Russia, that I can tell you.
But I really did kiss that dirty floor(really!) at Dulles airport, where my children were sworn in as United States Citizens. Praise God.

Busy day on Stella’s porch I see 🙂

Here is “Grand Canyon” by Calvin Liang

I really like the visual depth of this painting going from the hazy blue lavender in the distance to close-up bright colors. It has a horizontal look in the distant view even though they (hills? mesas?) are the same shape throughout the painting, but the close-up is very vertical. The wide range of colors adds interest without looking gaudy.

I hope you enjoy, and have a great rest of your day! 😉

Getting my workout today going up and down the basement stairs – doing laundry and putting together new shelving units. My knees are cooperating for a change.

I haven’t used my Desk Cycle for a few days now, and have to get back to it.

I started to use the clippers on Tucker earlier today. He was on the sofa with me and peed on the sofa and on my leg. Fortunately I had a cover on the sofa and none of the pee got through to the cushions, but I had to run quickly down to the basement to put it in the washer. Apparently Tucker was having nothing to do with the clippers today.

If those are the worst things to happen today then it is a good one!

WALSH: I Looked Up Every Case Of An Unarmed Black Man Shot By Cops In 2019. Here’s The Truth The Media And BLM Are Hiding.

    https://www.dailywire.com/news/walsh-i-looked-up-every-case-of-an-unarmed-black-man-shot-by-cops-in-2019-heres-the-truth-the-media-and-blm-are-hiding

First, to put the statistics into perspective, it’s helpful to begin with the overall number of arrests. According to the DOJ, police make about 10 million arrests each year. As a rough average, 7 million of the arrested suspects are white and 3 million are black. Out of that number, last year, 25 unarmed white people were killed by police, compared to 14 unarmed black people, according to the Washington Post database of police shootings. That means about .0004 percent of all blacks arrested were killed while unarmed. The percentage for whites is comparable. In total, 1,000 people were shot and killed by police in 2019, the vast majority of whom were armed. Still, that’s a mere .01 percent of all arrests…

This is what the media and BLM activists mean when they scream about the epidemic of “unarmed” black men killed by police. They mean that a very tiny fraction of black people arrested by police are killed in the process, and that an even tinier fraction are unarmed at the time, and that an even tinier fraction of that fraction of the fraction, actually had no weapon of any kind, and were making no attempt to hurt or kill a police officer. When phrased like that, it doesn’t seem like there’s much of an epidemic here at all.
