I’m going down to pick up a lawn mower and a pressure washer from the repair guy. They’ve been done since April 28th but he tried to call once and didn’t get through so it just slipped his mind.

Well, it turned out to not be so bad. The fan went out again. Still under warranty. This is the third one they have put in. He said this one is from a different supplier so hopefully will be good.
They did put in a new Shrader valve which I have probably needed for a long time.
We are now having a boomer of a t-storm now.

Our thunderstorm arrived anout 1/2 hour ago, several rumbles, then a big bang – CherChez was already glued to Czar’s leg where she remains since the thunder is ongoing….

Took the truck out today – forgot that the A/C’s shot on it and it was in the mid-90s in temp and 80s in humidity. Luckily the 4-60 AC still works.

Our county just went to all masks indoors. I am sure the decision was based on the obviously faulty data that the health dept. In Fl had put out.

Lol. In stores and eating out until you get your food ………….or something. I didnt make a big stink because of my friend, but I am going to have to rethink that. My friend would probably get a kick out of me raising a ruckus. I told her to pull the mask off her nose since it bothers her so much.

Well, all the wet mucky trash has been removed from the basement. Floors still not clean, but dry in spots. Furnace guy will be here momentarily. Praying that they can repair my furnace. If he says not, I will seek another opinion before giving in. Water heater isn’t working either. I have a plumber scheduled for next Monday, although I may look for one who can come sooner.

Furnace is working and A/C is on! Yay! He is trying to get the water heater working. If he can’t then I may need to replace it. He explained why. Good guy!

He got the water heater going too! He said they usually recommend replacing it, but he was able to blow out the lines, relight the water heater and cycle it to make sure it was okay. Total bill for all was $122.50. I will use these people again, for sure.

Plumber will be here next Monday to decide next steps. Probably will have him remove toilet in the basement, check sewer lines and ask for suggestions to prevent future problems like this.

The plumber will advise on that, although the furnace guy said he thought that if they had to install one it would be several thousand dollars. He also told me that he could put my furnace on its side suspended from the ceiling, or move it to the attic, but that would cost thousands too.

One of my all-time favorite films and the music, too. Really love this scene.
When the film was released in 1955, Kim Novak was 22, William Holden 37, Cliff Robertson 32, Susan Strasberg was only 17, and 16 when she was filming. She came into my office one day in the early 70s. We got to talking about PICNIC and she said that acting with such great stars could have been intimidating since it was her first film but everyone was wonderful to work with…all professional, but she thought she could have done a better job. Her father was the famous acting coach, Lee Strasberg; so she’d been around fame since she was born. I thought she was fine–imagine being that good at 16–and told her so.
I’m not sure why the producers decided to go with older male actors playing men in their 20s, but I think both Holden and Robertson were excellent. One of my fav scenes is when Holden and Novak are by the railroad tracks after they’ve run away from a gathering and she kisses him. He says, “Oh, Baby, what did you do?” LOL! Love it!
The only person in the main cast of PICNIC who is still alive is Kim Novak. There were a lot of uncredited actors in the film, though why the Screen Actors Guild allowed that is beyond me. One of them was Shirley Knight who passed away 3 months ago. My favorite film she starred in was SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH with Paul Newman, an absolute masterpiece, IMO. Those who haven’t seen it, should. An acting tour de force.

I looked up the Wiki on Kim Novak earlier today. I was happy to see that she married a normal guy (a horse vet) the second time around, moved to Oregon and lives a normal life.

I remembered she married outside show biz but not that he was a vet. Good for her in trying to lead a life away from the fame game town.
