A well known military aviation poem “High Flight”, written by John G. Magee on September 3, 1941. The version that most nearly follows the original manuscript is as follows:
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds,-and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air….
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor ever eagle flew-
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God

When I was a teenager in the late 50s, there was a Los Angeles TV station which closed off their day with this poem. It just so happens that the above link also linked to a video reciting the poem…the vid I got to see on Friday and Saturday nights was an older version of this….

Remember when TV stations would sign off instead of staying on 24/7 and playing crap? We have old-line network stations that fill in dead time morning and night with infomercials.

The number of COVID deaths in Louisiana long term care facilities has been so high it’s been a fixture on almost every newscast for weeks. The lack of PPE, the lack of testing, some homes taking in COVID positive patients from other facilities, lack of functional separation of healthy and infected patients – the ineptitude and horror stories go on and on.
Welllll, the Louisiana state government has come to the conclusion that strong, positive measure MUST be taken to address this horrific issue so this week the Legislature will take up a bill to shield long term care facility owners from tort suits! Howzat for decisive action?
Not mentioned in the discussion is the interconnections between Louisiana politicians and long term care facility owners at all levels from local to state. The state’s been dumping its care facilities into the hands of for-profit private contractors for years, saves the state money and gets the pols whatnot in return. Owners may get some money from the state but a lot of the money to run these facilities comes from Medicare/Medicaid and Social security. State used to harvest that money too when it ran its own facilities but would add state funds to ensure a reasonable level of care but the for-profit businesses have to provide care while still making a profit after covering overhead. Might be a more humane to throw mama from the train than put her in a Louisiana long term care facility.

Same in Pa, Ny, Nj. The Ny governor (bully) said the other day, “well that’s what old people do, die.” He should be taken out and shot, or horse whip in the public square.

Note how they don’t mention the number of minority deaths in the nursing homes, they just lump them under ‘old’ and even the minority pols I’ve seen don’t single out their own elderly they just let them go.

Yesterday some poll reported a massive increase in support for Biden. I guess they are preparing us for a great deal of absentee ballot fraud.

They are applications for absentee ballots, not actual ballots. I disagree with that decision because of the state of voter rolls, but it isn’t illegal. Michigan now allows absentee voting by all citizens. The usual procedure is for a vote to obtain an application (available on line), fill it out and send it to the local clerk.
I was opposed to the change in the Michigan absentee balloting laws (used to be that you had to be over 60, or have a reason for needing to vote absentee), but it was passed on a ballot initiative.
Our current SOS (Jocelyn Benson) was a member of the Soros Secretary of State initiative.

Mornin’ everyone. Sunny here. Sorry about all that rain in Michigan. I saw first thing this morning about the flooding caused by the dams giving way. That on top of COVID, etc. Praying for the people.

Rep Max Rose (D-NY) thinks it is ‘heartless’ that Guardspersons activated for COVID-19 response are only being activated for 179 days, given a ‘hard stop’, to prevent them from hitting the 180-contiguous-days-of-service requirement that would give them full GI Bill benefits.
As far back as I can remember (early 70s in this case) the DOD and VA held Guard and Reserve active duty deployments at 179 days for just that reason. Those who joined the active duty services spent at least three years earning the GI Bill and risked Vietnam service. Many in the Guard were there due to their escaping the draft during Vietnam thru political considerations, enterprising full-time Reserve and Guard technicians even sold slots to those wishing to escape the threat of the draft. In ’73 when the draft ended Guard and Reserve recruits dried up and over the next couple of years as the Guards/Reserves members’ mandatory periods of service ended and they left. By ’76 many Guard and Reserve units were using unique accounting methods to keep their monthly headcounts above levels that would threaten closing the unit.
Those Reserve and Guard who’ve been activated for combat and combat support missions get the GI Bill as they’re on duty for over 179 contiguous days, and they deserve it, they put their butts on the line. A 180+ day tour doing COVID testing or handing out free meals is nice but entails about the same risk as summer camp and doesn’t deserve the GI Bill. Many states offer Guard members educational and other benefits on their own outside of the GI Bill and we’re looking at a distinct possibility that they may get dual benefits and a definite possibility that those states will stop issuing their own benefits and just start mass qualifying the Guard members for the GI Bill.
We’re looking at about 1.1 million Reservists and 350,000 Guardsmembers slots. After the GWOT activations many of them already have the GI Bill and VA Medical benefits, now we’re talking loading the rest of them, those out of Guard/Reserve service and those yet enlisted into an already broken system. I know that Rep Rose is a Democrat and believes everything should be free but to those of us who earned that GI Bill tend to feel protective of it – nevermind the disaster it would make of the already screwed up VA medical system.

Michigan: Gretchen Whitmer seeds the nursing homes with COVID-19
By Monica Showalter – May 20, 2020
In light of the nursing home disaster in New York, what kind of a ghoul would take that as an example to emulate instead of a baleful death warning to avoid, and then order contagious COVID-19 patients into her state’s nursing homes?
Only Michigan’s hard-faced Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the ambitious Democrat who banned sales of garden seeds to Michiganders, saying she’s doing it in the name of keeping everyone ‘safe.’

I read an article today that was so moving! This young man had cancer when he was 12. They thought he was cured, but he had a relapse in 2016, and again in 2019. A few monthago, he had a relapse. They found it had spread to his back, and other places, including his brain. In March he was given 3-5 months to live. His girlfriend, Sadie and he were only dating for 6 months, but the families all knew they were in love. The family and friends managed to have a beautiful wedding for them in 4 days! They both were only 18 years old! They got married in her families driveway, where they had their first kiss!. This is one of the most poignent wedding videos I’ve ever seen.

That is a sad story. My SIL’s nephew died in September at age 19, and his story is similar. Several bouts with leukemia starting in childhood, and finally brain cancer, which killed him. His name was Joshua. To make matters worse, his father was simultaneously battling cancer of another kind.

I am not sure how valuable the Mueller Report actually is. Mueller was to catch Trump in a perjury trap or an obstruction of justice trap. It did neither. When Barr became the Attorney General, the Left knew it was over and Mueller switched jobs. Now he was in charge of getting rid of the evidence.
The Lack of Recommendations is proof the Mueller Dossier was BS.
Also the Ommissions reinforce that point.
1). There was no mention of Fusion GPS or its owner and principal operator, Glen Simpson. It refers once to the firm that produced the Steele Dossier Mueller cites Steele, but he was the frontman. By omitting Fusion GPS’s role, Mueller buried the central facts of the Russia investigation.
Fusion GPS had been funded by the Clinton campaign to smear Trump in the media and Federal Agents had used politically funded dirt as evidence to spy on the opposing presidential campaign.

2). No mention of the origin of the Russia investigation – info about the Clinton e-mails that Mifsud passed to Papadopoulos. There is no mention of his lack of connection to Russia. Mifsud is a Maltese professor with no connection to Russia.
3). No mention of Halper, the dirty tricks operator whose fingerprints are on nearly all parts of the investigation. Flynn, Page, Papadopoulos, the Dossier.

Since Flynn is in the news, I will add this.
Jan. 2016: Stephan Halper, asks Christopher Andrew, (associate U of Cambridge professor, retired Australian diplomat) to invite Svetlana Lukhova to dinner on behalf of Halper. Halper used Lukhova to dirty National Security advisor Flynn in a campaign that served as a basis to open an investigation on Flynn.
Fall 2016: Former head of MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove meets with former MI6 agent, Christopher Steele,
Dec. 2016: Halper begins to brief US & UK press on allegations regarding Flynn & Lokhova.
Feb. 2017: Christopher Andrew writes an article alleging that Lokhova had compromised Flynn.
Mar. 2017: Halper campaign targeting Flynn & Lokhova continues with articles in the Wall Street Journal & the Guardian.
Addendum: I do not believe Lukhova had anything to do with this and was quite irritated when she realized she had been set up and she was now a worldwide news item
= The dates here are important since the FBI wants the world to believe the investigation began after July 31, 2017.

Addendum: Fall 2016:
The former head of MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove meets with former MI6 agent, Christopher Steele and encourages him to share his findings with active British officials.

If Flynn & Lohova were a problem, why did the operatives wait so long to report it,. Mifsud spent most of his time teaching FBI & CIA, MI5 & MI6 agents as well as other Euro intelligence agents. The question being why would allow a Russian operative teach our agents? Mifsud has no connection to Russia and therefore no information about what the Russians do or did.
