My father planted a hibiscus just that color near our front door in Miami. I miss having hibiscus outside, but they freeze here in the winter. Tried keeping them in pots, but they got too big.

Good morning, aus! It’s an overcast day and 57 degrees at the moment. If it’s going to be dreary, I’d rather be here on the California coast…
…all bundled up, sitting by a nice driftwood fire, listening to the surf and waiting for the fog to lift…oh, and maybe a nice looking fella to join me as long as he’s brought a picnic lunch with wine…I mean, is that too much to ask?

Good morning, WeeWeed! Might as well hold a proper send-off. The preacher will give a short eulogy, invite everyone to follow Jesus, and a great “gone to a better place, thank you” revival prayer will close it off with lots of “Amens.”

It rained an inch here after about 2:00 in the morning. It is all gray and dreary. We may get more rain later, I hope.

Shopping for Mrs. Wheat’s Meat Pies (hand pies, like empanadas). Since they can’t be at Jazz Fest (cancelled last and this weekend) they are selling out of their warehouse on Agriculture Street in NO. Can pick up or get a box shipped of frozen meat, spicy meat, cajun crawfish, crab and artichoke, or shrimp and andouille sausage for $17-26. Authentic Louisiana foods. Thought I’d go by on Sat. afternoon and pick up some for the freezer.

I still haven’t gotten my stimulus money. I finally went on the IRS website and filled in the info. But, I really shouldn’t have needed to.

We expect to get the paper check. Since we always have to pay on our taxes they don’t have our bank act number for direct deposit.

What I don’t understand is why this was a problem. I pay taxes and have gotten a refund which has been direct deposited into my acct for years. So, they have my information. I’ll check my acct again in the morning and see if I am any richer by having gotten back some of my money.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is the last in a long string of redwood parks that stretch up Northern California’s coast. A few miles inland from the ocean, the park is densely forested with huge ancient trees. In fact, it contains seven percent of all the old-growth redwoods left in the world. No roads or trails mark “Jed Smith’s” core—just pure, primeval majesty.
The park was named for Jedediah Strong Smith, who in the 1820s became the first white man to explore the interior of northern California.
