    Having just finished watching…

    “The More the Merrier” (1943) Jean Arthur, Joel McCrea, Charles Coburn

    …it will take me until morning to recover I laughed so much. A favorite film of my teens, I was mad about Joel McCrea for years after first seeing it on local TV. Not having viewed the film for years, it makes me happy to know it’s just as crazy and sweet as I remembered.

    Mornin’ everyone. 🙂 Gray and rainy here today. It looks like we got about an inch last night and this morning. I didn’t know if we would get any of it. But, it is lightenining and thundering nicely here and the only problem is it makes me want to go back to bed. 🙄

      Great article Menagerie, (finally had time to read it).

      Quote from Buckley to begin the article;

      If you despise most of your fellow Americans, don’t be surprised if they tire of you. If you want to cancel our history and heroes, maybe you’re telling them they need their own country.

      If you pretend that your policies trump the constitutional rules of the game, maybe you just want your own country, separate from America. But if that’s not really what you want, perhaps it’s time for you to chill.

      Nothing demonstrates this more than the delusional Left’s willingness, not only willingness but for many honest belief that President Trump suggested that people with the Chinese Virus inject themselves with bleach. There is a madness that is rampant in our country and you can not reason with someone in a psychotic break, I would argue that many Anti-Trumpers are living in a psychotic break even meeting the criteria of the DSM-5;

      1) Delusions- strange beliefs and ideas which are resistant to rational/logical dispute or contradiction from others. (Trump is a Russian agent, a rapist, an anti-Semite, a racist, Melania was a hooker, the Trump children obviously have low IQ’s…)

      2) Hallucinations- auditory, or visual. Trump said that Neo -Nazis are fine people, that people with the Chinese Virus should inject themselves with bleach, that David Duke was a fine man…Most of them still believe that Nick Sandmann is a racist bully who was mean to a poor decrepit Native American honorable combat war veteran…)

      3) Disorganized Speech- incoherence, or irrational content.

      4) Disorganized or Catatonic behavior- repetitive, senseless movements, or adopting a pose which may be maintained for hours. The individual may be resistant to efforts to move them into a different posture, or will assume a new posture they are placed in (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

      (Certainly these example are not catatonic but they fit the other criteria of disorganized reptile <<😂…think I'll leave that typo…. behavior.)

      ****

      In short they are simply batshit crazy.

    Oh oh, local restaurant/bar owners are worried. Seems the laid off staff has been getting much more on enhanced unemployment than the restaurants/bars can pay and with the reductions in hours and seatings under the phased openings the workers won’t make much in tips either. Owners are saying they’re not seeing staff rushing to return to work.

    Gonna be interesting when the unemployment runs out and they start looking for work – wonder how many will be replaced by undocumented job hunters?

      Stella posted an article from a restaurant owner who said he didn’t think he could open until August. His cooks make more on unemployment. IIRC, he said it would take paying them about 25 bucks an hour to match the supplemented worker’s comp.

      Owners need to contact the Unemployment office and say they offered the people their jobs back, so they can’t receive unemployment anymore. Unemployed workers have to report every week that they don’t have jobs and no offers.

        States are having massive problems just trying to keep up with those applying and that combined with the money coming from the Feds doesn’t make me think that’s going top happen anytime soon.
