Good morning, lovely! Wonderful photo! Reminds me of THE RAINY DAY by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow…
The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.
My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Windy, 80’s, mostly cloudy (but not dark and dreary). Expecting “terrible weather” tonight per all the weather Cassandras.

I thought some of you might enjoy this graffiti we saw on our 5 mile hike yesterday, this is an old train track at the beginning of one of the trails.
Good morning 🙂 !

By the way Stella, I absolutely love the Lily of the Valley banner, between sunflowers and LotV I can not choose a favorite flower.
Good morning, hope you are enjoying the lovely weather we are getting, though my eyes are irritated due to allergies after being outside so long yesterday.

Lily of the valley is my birth flower, and I love it too! Nothing smells nicer, and I’m glad I have some growing in my garden.

Mornin’ everyone. Another day. Sun is out here. We got an inch of rain yesterday which was very welcome. We also had a little lightning and thunder, which I haven’t heard in a long time. Hope everyone has something cheerful happen today. ❤

Mornin’ mom! Not bad weather today, but we will have rain most days this week.

Had a bit of thunder last nigth, which makes the Terriorist very nervous. She’s going to hate tonight, when the real storm comes through.

Watching “The Enemy Below” . Must be in Technicolor, b/c it is jarringly beautiful to look at. Makes those late 60’s pale pinkish movies look terrible, and current ones look less real.

Put it on my list. When I checked on Amazon , I had to pay for it. Then, I looked on youtube and it is available there free. I don’t pay for movies on top of all the other costs. So, when I finish the disaster movie, Judgment Day, I will watch that. I like to watch disaster movies on the weekend, but not the “the world is going to die of a virus” movies at this time. 🙄

The copy you saw was likely a newish print made from the master or a restoration because it was filmed in DeLuxe Color, which does fade faster than Technicolor. If Technicolor films are preserved and archived correctly, the color will last for generations. Interesting article on Technicolor…https://www.in70mm.com/news/2010/technicolor/
I saw THE ENEMY BELOW in a re-release at an old fashioned huge auditorium theater in the 60s. Very well done film. The filmmakers used actual ships, no models or animation. Did you note that Dick Powell was the director?
———–
Last night I watched “Captain Newman, M D” (1963)
Starring Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis, Angie Dickinson
Quirky and worth watching, but not a great film.

I was hoping you would give your 2 cents on this. I just found it on FXX channel as I was scrolling by. Czar looked the IMDB info up on it. After it, Czar and I watched a b&w film, Fate is the Hunter: lots of good actors, did not keep my interest.

I love IMDb and try to go there first to give them the traffic and not Wikipedia. Although I have to say that Wiki does a really great job on the film industry (sometimes too thorough and I’ve been a bit disillusioned when finding out some of my favs’ peccadillos).

I am watching The Enemy Below now. It made me remember all the times I spent on destroyers that Daddy was on. We used to go on Sunday to eat dinner. I thought I had the run of the ship. Hard to tell if I really did. Mom and I traveled on Navy ships to Panama and later to Cuba. I was always so proud of my dad.
It also reminded me of a German I worked with in the 70’s. He said he was 17 when he was on a German U-boat during the war. It was so miserable he said he really couldn’t even describe how bad it was.

I saw the MGM lion and it reminded me of when I started watching a movie and the mgm lion roared. The 110 lb. big baby/tough guy lab that was asleep at my feet leaped up shaking with eyes like saucers. He sneaked around from room to room looking for that lion. He was really jumpy for a long time after that. LOL

Kentucky’s GOP Legislature Overrides Liberal Governor Bashear’s Veto On Voter ID Requirements
By Brock Simmons – Published April 18, 2020 at 4:50pm
The Kentucky General Assembly is overwhelmingly Republican, outnumbering the democrats 29-9 in the Senate and 61-37 in the House. So the legislature got back together last week and took up votes to override Beshear’s veto, which passed by huge margins in both chambers.

These guys are wonderful musicians. As showmen they’ve definitely found an audience. Good on ’em! Why not? Solemn classical musicians can be a tad boring on occasion.
One of the comments…LOL!….

Dealer: how much do you need?
Luca: ALL OF THE HORSE HAIR!!!

Well we missed Easter Tornado Episode 2.0 all day today. God help Mississippi and Georgia et al tonight. Nasty weather. In other news, I still haven’t done our taxes.

Relief for you to miss the worst weather. It seems the worst is passing north of us, but we are still in a warning zone till after midnight

Glad you’re safe! In additional other news, me either. I’m really dreading it. Sold a house, bought a house, have to figure taxes for part of a year in Georgia. Praise God for living in a no income tax state now!
After 2019 taxes are done things should go back to being super easy again.

I wonder if I might have had a mild case of Covid-19. No fever, but runny nose, cough and occasional shortness of breath. I attributed the symptoms to a change in medication, but now the symptoms are completely gone, so I am wondering.

That’s what I figured. I never felt like I had a cold or a virus. Just those symptoms.

I had every single symptom they had mentioned. I actually think I was in a little bit of a fog because I can’t remember when each of the symptoms happened, but they weren’t all at the same time.

I started to think about it a couple of days ago, since the symptoms went away. The cough was really annoying, although at times I would have coughing fits. Then I read this article, and the woman who wrote it had similar symptoms to mine. I didn’t lose sense of smell or taste though.

I had every single symptom EXCEPT the fever, and remember when they said runny nose was NOT a symptom?? Yeah, I think I’ve already had it, too.
LikeLiked by 2 people
The retired nurse who wrote that article said that a clear runny nose is a symptom, and I had that.
PS: I also had some tightness in my chest. Like, if I took a really deep breath, it would make me cough.

Saw a lot of posts off and on from the phone today about Oklahoma City. None about Waco, though. Was it not the same day, different years? Both should be remembered.
