    Mornin’ everyone. Cloudy, foggy, overcast here. It will clear off soon, though. Hope everyone is staying healthy. The world still seems crazy, but there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Hoping it’s not a train. 😯

      Same here, like misty fog gathering on my shoulders and glasses. Cool and damp, but supposed to be sunny and almost hot later. Wisteria and azaleas’ blooms have faded, daffodils and fruit trees are still going strong. Blueberry flowers are pretty much over, and some fruit is forming.

        It was 84* in the shade yesterday afternoon, but it felt like 100* out in the sun when I went to the mailbox. I think we may skip spring this year. 🙄

      Back when you could get a motel room across from the wharf for $20/night, I spent a week every summer for years in Santa Barbara…lovely city by the sea…and great for walking.

    Just thinking about what the entertainment industry will look like next fall and winter. They have had to suspend filming for movies and TV, postpone sports events, cancel concerts, and have delayed release of already produced movies. Movies, as Lucille will attest, take years to develop, and when they come near to filming get complicated if postponed. Ongoing TV series episodes are less so. Perhaps we will see variety shows (like 1960’s-70’s Kraft comedy hour, Ed Sullivan, Andy Williams/Sonny and Cher). Events like sports & concerts just have to be reset. We are an inventive bunch with many experiences: what can we think of?

      Hm. I am not sure what they can come up with. Most of the new stuff they have on TV now is just total crap. They have to have so much diversity that a family is pretty much unrecognizable. There has to be at least two gays in each show……..so they can hug and kiss. And, most of the jokes are sexual or just totally not funny.

      There will never be another Carol Burnette and Sonny and Cher was funny and I loved the music. The Ed Sullivan show was always worth watching for whatever he had on. I guess I will just spend my available years left watching mostly old westerns and period dramas.

      I’m relatively cynical about the entertainment industry’s ability to innovate during this coronavirus economic catastrophe. It’s a closed shop to any thinking but their own…and their own is absolutely political left these days and there’s so little pushback that it might as well not exist.

      Film businesses have never completely shut down like they’re being forced to do in the Los Angeles area at this moment…not in either world wars, during the 2009 H1N1 or the Ebola scare, or in the flu epidemics of the 50s, 60s or any other era. This could easily be a time for writers and all members of a production entity to be innovative. But can a group so filled with animus toward a large segment of their audience even think straight?

      We all know there’s a purpose in the Chinese virus madness and the Chicoms are loving it. The American Left powers-that-be don’t care in 2020 if they hurt their own, that is if it can bruise, batter, render ineffective or preferably kill the President and his supporters.

      I don’t look for the entertainment industry at large to learn a single positive thing from this made-up crisis. Their thought processes are invested elsewhere.

    City of New Orleans is rounding up the homeless and is sending them, a guesstimated 1200, to an undisclosed hotel for housing. They say that this will reduce the spread of the virus though I didn’t see many homeless up breathing in the faces/hugging the public prior to or during this panic. Having dealt with the street homeless before I can tell you that aside from dealing with storing the piles of personal stuff they have the state’s also going to have to deal with the fact that many of these folks have multiple medical and psychiatric issues and many are also drug addicts. I’m hoping that the city’s also going to have some plan in place to deal with all of these drug using homeless clumped into one place – try social distancing that – and with checks from the government in hand they’ll have to schedule shifts for the drug dealers. Oh yeah, try social distancing with the homeless…

    The President has also finally declared Louisiana a major disaster area, not sure if that’s entirely due to the virus or not, but that frees up millions, if not billions, of Federal dollars for the honest and dedicated Louisiana politicians and their cronies to use in recovery. These dollars will be spent wisely and honestly, y’all don’t look at how the state’s done it in the past – it’s different this time.

    Watching Cuomo and Louisiana gov trying to make political hay out of the shortage of ventilators by blaming Trump without directly blaming Trump. That’s what you get from electing people who haven’t ever worked with their hands and have a knowledge of how the system operates, you can’t just reach up your nether eye and crank out some 30,000 ventilators, just for NY and LA, ain’t an easy task.       I don’t understand the math of needing 30,000 ventilators. Yes, I understand exponential math. What percentage of infected people, roughly will need a ventilator? These are the stats I just found. Again, I understand this is going to multiply. But I would like to know where they are getting their figures. Do they have the space laid out to install these? Is there power wired for them? Is there medical personnel to monitor them? Or is it just a demand for 30,000 units without the additional stuff to go with it?

      As of Wednesday afternoon, health officials have confirmed at least:

      30,811 total cases in New York State
      285 deaths from the coronavirus in the state
      17,856 cases in New York City
      4,691 cases in Westchester County, 3,285 cases in Nassau, 2,260 in Suffolk, 968 in Rockland, 638 in Orange, and 152 in Albany County
      3,675 cases in New Jersey, with 44 deaths
      618 cases in Connecticut, with 12 deaths

    I’m watching The Miniaturist. I am 30 min. into it and so far it is between creepy and depressing. I hope it gets better. Once I get into something like this, I get curious and want to finish it, but it is hard to watch something this dark.

    It’s not just the melody of America the beautiful that is so lovely, though we can still remember singing it in elementary school, where we discovered that it’s the most singable of our anthems. We also love the lyrics and the fact that they are a prayer that God grace America and mend her flaws. And a call on Americans to confirm her soul in self control and her liberty in law. It asks America to crown its good with brotherhood.
