    These reporters, who totally believe they know more than the Task Force, are ridiculous.

    Re: the “testing” – all these swab tests do is determine if you are infected at that point in time.
    The only way for a determinative test is through a blood test, to measure the blood antibodies. The blood test is the only way to determine if you have the antibodies and thus are contagious or have had it in the past.

    New Orleans mayor is about to hold a press conference on the state of the infection in the city. Previous pressers have occurred on the ground, this one’s being held on a balcony high above the thronging masses of the potentially infected she is supposed to represent. Can’t reign as Gauleiter of The Big Sleazy if you’s sick.

    I’d posted this on the CTH:

    I’ve been following the virus feeds in Chinese news since November and I’d mentioned before the virus hit it was a threat, we’d just seen a major group do a pandemic tabletop a few months before.

    The medical intel folks blew it, if those of us retired could see the virus tearing through Hubei then why didn’t the various DoD and Federal agencies paid to do so miss it? That’s their job, and if past is prologue I wonder if they’ll learn from this? Maybe like the various intel and LEA after 911 they’ll ‘form a committee’ and ‘have a study’ to see how they can form yet another Federal agency to do the jobs of those agencies now under or part of the new agency didn’t do. You know, like Homeland Security who is sorta, kinda pointing their fingers at other agencies saying it was their fault.

    ***Here we are again, blatant in-yo-face proof that you cannot place your total trust in any level of government, we are doing disaster control when we should have been doing preventive actions. The Fed agencies from the CIA to the DIA to the CDC to Homeland Security looked and saw way ahead of time and TOTALLY blew the interpretation they are paid to recognize. Finest proof of their blatant screw-up is the call ‘not to play the blame game, now is the time to blah blah blah’. Had those agencies charged with recognizing potential threats have done their jobs and reported accordingly we wouldn’t be in the mess we have now. As much as I hate to say it Bill Gates was light years ahead of the Federal bureaucracy.***

    Louisiana now has two areas (Orleans and Jefferson Parishes) in the Top Ten Infected Places. It’s not that unusual for JP to be infected, it’s the closest bedroom community to the city, a strip city of incorporated and unincorporated cities along the southern shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

    The cities/parish have closed restaurants, bars, gyms, nail/hair salons and any entertainment venues and have asked employers to let workers work from home but if you remove those folks in the various hands-on, blue-collar jobs that the area depends on there ain’t much left. The grocery stores, cleaners, laundromats, car repair, etc, are still open and people are not prohibited from roaming around the city on foot. Though the bars are closed there’s a medical group in the city pushing to have gay bars in the Quarter reopened as they say they are a crucial point of contact between the gay community and medical services.

    Despite the city’s Henny Penny pressers there are over 3000 open hospital beds available and over 300 ventilators, far in excess of what’s needed right now, hospitals are ginning up makeshift housing for less critical and we still haven’t activated the states NG MASH capabilities.

    Let’s not forget that out of all of us Col Ken’s the closest to the tip of the COVID spear – his transplant means that he has almost zero immune system.
