    Tis going to be an odd Sunday in New Orleans with all of the parades cancelled and so many churches cancelling services. I don’t remember this kind of panic in either the SARS or swine flu but here we are.

    It’s surprising how many people you run into who think this whole panic is pure BS, and how many don’t realize that so far in the 2019-2020 flu season the CDC’s documented at least 36 million cases of flu and some 22,000 deaths contributed DIRECTLY to the flu. Saying that makes them stop and recalibrate.

    I’m alsop planning on asking anyone who tells me the government isn’t working fast enough to develop a vaccine if they’ve had their flu vaccine? Remember the next time you see panic shoppers scared ****less of the Wuhan flu that fewer than 50% of the adults and their children in the US received flu shots this season. How many would get a COVID-19 shot?

      Czar, I have some different thoughts.on this C-19 virus. When your fighting a long war, non kinetic, kinetic what do you do in the enemy’s rear area too create panic, disinformation, low morale, crash their economy……..

        It’s quite possible, can’t rule it out. I’d posted before that if I were a Chicom NBC planning officer I’d be watching closely to see how this virus spread worldwide but especially in the US andour reaction times and modes.

        The Chicoms have a robust biowar program closely tied to their legit pharma program to give it a fig leaf. I’ve also seen a few troubling Chinese science releases in professional mags, sorta like how the Russian scientists would publish things in professional journals that would give away things they were developing. Even if this isn’t a purposeful release they’re still getting a lot of free and valuable intel from this.

      I laugh more at those who are yelling we need to listen to the CDC and follow all of their guidelines and you look on their FB accounts and they refuse to vaccinate their children because the CDC is covering up how dangerous vaccines are.

      There is something behind this global panic, I’m not sure what it is and we may or may not discover what it is, but it’s not the virus, the virus is just the tool they’re using. I’ve read all the different theories out there right now from Q and others and to be honest nothing would surprise me.

      It’s not breaking through the 24 hour panic cycle, but I’m starting to see many doctors and scientists who are saying COVID-19 has a makeup very similar to Type A flu, so close that you could test positive for one or the other and have either. Most medical professionals are not in panic mode and are trying to calm fears that it’s not the plague and if you’re not elderly or have health conditions it’s not a threat to you. It’s very hard for them though to break through the panic curtain, because the few medical professionals who love the attention of the media and feeding the panic are the ones who everyone wants to listen to. It’s almost like people enjoy living in a world of fear and panic.
      I see all over FB people screaming that their parents or grandparents won’t listen to them and refuse to take this seriously and refuse to stay home and not allow visitors. Then I see when someone posts a story told by someone who has recovered from it those that immediately pile on that it is wrong to post these stories and downright dangerous and is going to cost lives.

      I still though believe whatever the plan is for this, they best hurry and carry it out, because people have short attention spans and in a few weeks they will have moved on to something else. They will all be bored with the killer virus and bored sitting at home squeezing their Charmin.

        Hospitals and health clinics are getting dragged into this for fear that if they don’t play the game they’ll get sued, tort lawyers are warming up in the dugout as they do for any potential rainmaker.

        It’s also a chance for free ‘See how great we are?’ advertising as the story-hungry press is crawling all over doctors and medical facilities and they’re both busy stroking each other.

        This is one of those ‘self-licking ice cream cone’ situations.

        If this virus was designed specifically to take out the elderly and the weak, to be carried by the young who only get mild effects, then we should have results that would make the eugenecists happy and be a step toward the Georgia Guidestones numbers. Then Bill Gates can telecommute from his bunker with his lecturing press releases. One of the survivors reported that it feels like having your lungs ripped out. 😟 Also, some medical people are saying possible permanent lung damage, in lung capacity.
        Yes, I agree, this could very well be a diversionary tactic for some high-level players. But those of us “on the ground” need to keep a level head, and pay attention (not to the mainstream “chicken little” hyenas).

      I have a friend who is a doctor, lawyer, ethicist, has a theology degree, and is an author. Her Facebook posts are not personal, or even meant to be her opinions, but to provide thought provoking discussions.

      She and some others were discussing, for example how to triage, and who would be put on ventilators. It seems the necessity might become who is most expected to not only survive, but get off the ventilator quickly so another person can be put on it.

        That’s what our combat medics do. That’s why I laid on my stretcher with my knee wound, not serious enough, a couple of shots of morphine I was enjoying watching the “round eyes” moving around……now fast forward, my stomach wound in GW1, after Evac I was moved into surgery, put under, woke up later in Corp hospital…..then to Germany…..
        It’s all about the seriousness of the medical issues, available resources, and can we “save” the patient. It’s the “Golden Hour”.
        Your right Menagerie, the criteria has too be developed…..

          There was my ex-FIL who laid on the ground inland from Normandy after being shot and pinned to the ground by a fine German steel bayonet. He got the ‘Do Not Open Until Christmas’ tag but some time later when they came by to do the toe tags he was still breathing so it was off to the surgical tent.

          Let’s not forget SF MSG Roy Benavidez who, in one 6 hour period in 1968, received 37 separate shrapnel, bullet and bayonet wounds while helping rescue his SF partners and a Hmong team from the NVA. The medics thought he was dead and put him in a body bag but later, when the doc came by to check Roy’s body and do the paperwork, Roy had just enough strength left to spit in the doc’s face – and it was off to the surgical unit.

          Jes ain’t some folks time to go.

            Remember Roy’s story. Never met the man seen him at a distance. He was one BIG SOB! Just like Charles Witmore, Battle of. Concord, April 19, 1775. This young man of 70 + years grab his rifle, pistols, short sword, ( Charles was a French Indian War veteran ) , was ambushing the British as they retreated from Concord. Witmore was ambushed by a British flanking party. He was shot numerous times, bayoneted multiple times, left for dead then made his way home. Witmore did die about 18-20 years later.

              And Roy could DRINK! We were at the Mead O-club the night of his talk and we definitely knocked the bottom out of some booze bottles. There were only three of us who were VN vets who were still wearing the bag so the youngsters footed the bill and we obliged.

              I have his book, autographed,and I had my grand kids read it, my Great Grandkids are next and the first one who enlists get my Roy autographed picture.

              I had a LTC in my unit who went to Nam as a grunt, got shot up and then switched to SF. He went back tro Nam and got yet another Enemy Marksmanship badge and a bayonet wound. He recovered, couldn’t do the grunt work any more so he became a Cobra pilot and got shot up again. He’s the only other guy I know who got messed up anywhere near as much bas Roy did and it took him 3 tours.

      Italy, the country that’s had more government changes since WW2 than Lady Gaga has in her entire career? I thought their state-sponsored system was already rationing health care thru inefficiency? People there who can afford it purchase private healthcare to ensure their health will be cared for.

      The author is right about taking the situation seriously regarding self quarantine and limiting non-essential socializing. What have we seen here when, for instance, universities close? Students flocking to the local bars to party. What’s wrong with this picture? Most of the students aren’t at danger of developing a dangerous illness, but they are certainly capable of spreading it to the general population.

      I am a high risk person, and I am completely self-quarantined. I think that’s the right decision for me at the moment.

      As far as triage is concerned, if the situation becomes dire enough it may be necessary. Even we in the USA do not have unlimited medical facilities. I don’t think it will come to that, but perhaps that is wishful thinking on my part.

        Agree stella. If I give my place on the ventilator up for a child or a twenty year old I like to think I will at least try to be charitable in my thinking. One never knows. Sooner or later, this crisis or the next worse one, choices will have to be made. I just don’t want Nancy or AOC or Bernie making it for me.

    Re the castle tower in the pic at the top of the main page: I wonder if whoever designed and built those merlons had a message in mind for any potential attackers?
