Good afternoon, aus! LOL! I slept until 11:00. If it hadn’t been for the kitties meowing for attention and their moist food (they have bowls of dry available 24/7), I probably would still be sleeping. At least they’re not this bad…

Good morning everyone. Rain is coming, most of the day, then five days next week. Did I tell you that I believe the Earth’s axis has flipped or something and we are upside down and sideways? The South is now the Pacific Northwest, climatewise. Forget global warming, what we have is global raining.
I keep looking, like an addict, at the extended forecast thinking that sooner or later we will get one with no rain. Nope, this has been ongoing for months. I’m going to have to find a 12 step meeting, I guess, cuz it just ain’t going to happen that there will be a sunny forecast.

I absolutely loved living in the Pacific Northwest in the Willamette Valley, .however, all rain, all the time, and no sun became a real issue for me. You have my condolences.
I was looking at the extended forecast here a few days ago and thinking that sooner or later the wind had to stop. The howling wind, the dark skies and the barrage against one’s home from the constant wind seems to have much the same effect on me as the constant rain.
Last night the winds finally started to die down and this morning, the first time in days, there is silence. The best part, and I don’t mean to make you jealous Menagerie, is that the silence is accompanied by bright, beautiful, glorious sunshine.
Hang in there….summer’s on the way :0)

Hope your silence lasts awhile. I’ve read the stories about the winds on the plains, and how it affected so many, wondering about my own ancestors who lived and farmed in Kansas. I don’t think that I would like it either. Glad you are enjoying some sun!

That mess was supposed to douse us, all weekend the weatherguessers were pounding us with ‘expert’ models showing 4 to 7 inches of rain on already sotted ground…gloom, doom and destruction!!!! 3 day total here is about 7/10ths of an inch with most of it falling as an endless drizzle.

We actually have a bit of a reprieve. Sun has been shining most of the morning, and rain is delayed until around 1, according to the phone. Which is usually pretty darned accurate.

Hi-altitude clouds making it a medium-gray here but no rain. Same weatherguessers who told us to put life jackets on the ducks predict a cool but sunny weekend.

Good afternoon, Menagerie! Hopefully the rains will come to an end and a beautiful rainbow pops up…

What the First Coronavirus Deaths Tell Us
The first nine coronavirus deaths in the U.S. show the biggest risks are not traveling internationally, riding mass transit or attending a crowded event. The most dangerous place to be is in a rehab or nursing home. The second-most dangerous is a hospital.
Five residents of the Life Care Center, a nursing facility in Kirkland, Washington, have died, and some 50 other residents and staff members there reportedly have coronavirus symptoms.
Be on the alert for more deadly outbreaks in nursing homes wherever coronavirus, now dubbed COVID-19, spreads. Nursing homes are infection cauldrons.
Most nursing facilities ignore precautions like separating infected residents and disinfecting rooms and medical equipment. Even without COVID-19, these facilities are dangerous. Last year, Kirkland’s Life Care was cited by regulators for shoddy infection control such as failing to have staff clean their hands before touching patients and allowing a flu outbreak to infect 17 patients.
Generally, someone with coronavirus will pass it to two other people, data show. But not in nursing homes. There, one infected person can lead to carnage…
According to the article, hospitals aren’t any better.

The CDC states that 70-90% of seasonal flu deaths are in the population over 65 and that’s a lotta ‘over 65’ living in them. Oh yeah, CDC estimates that fewer than 70% of workers in nursing homes get the flu shot – you can see workers in my doctor’s clinic and hospital wearing surgical masks during flu season as they refuse to get the flu shot. Oh yeah again, it ain’t unusual to be in the restroom and see a medical worker walk out without washing their hands or just passing them lightly thru the running water.
Nursing homes are heavily problematic…and I’m being kind. The media doesn’t want to touch the issue for many reasons, somer undoubtedly due to advertising revenue and some, no doubt, to their wish to have an affordable place to stash Grandma when she becomes too much of a problem to have at home. As the Boomer generation advances inevitably towards the nursing home as their final home the issue of increasing safety for residents versus decreasing revenue and increasing overhead – not to mention an increasing lifespan – makes the role of the nursing home as a silent partner in the Soylent Green program more and more inviting.

This woman has lots of good baking recipes and cooking twists. Some of her Mug Meals really appeal to me – they are great for a person living alone, and especially for someone who has limited kitchen facilities, such as a college student.

And I’m almost embarrassed to mention it but if one’s using cups/ramekins one hasn’t used in a microwave you should test them to make sure that whatever country that made them didn’t use a metallic glaze. I only mention it as I’d bought a couple of small Chinese bowls marked ‘microwave safe’ that heated up almost glowing when microwaved due to metal in the glaze.

I just went out to get the trash can put away and retrieve the mail. Tripped and fell in the drive, hit and cut my head (eyebrow), scuffed both palms and cracked the frame of my glasses. I think I’m okay, but they always warn about hitting your head when taking blood thinners.

Contact a neighbor or friend to go visit or have come over for the rest of the day to keep an eye on you, then check on you tomorrow early and mid-day. Head injuries can lead to delayed problems, and you don’t want to pass out and “be down” for hours or days! I mean it!

I’ll check in with my daughter. She and I text regularly so she can make sure I’m okay, and she has contact with my neighbors on both sides.

And put ice on your face for 20 minutes on 20 minutes off to reduce bruising. Take papaya to reduce the bruising faster.

New Study Finds FBI Dropped Investigations on Terrorists Behind: Ft. Hood, Pulse Nightclub, Garland and Boston Marathon Islamist Attacks
Posted by Jim Hoft on March 5, 2020
Of course, the FBI had plenty of resources available to spy on Donald Trump and his family and to send 25 agents and a CNN camera crew to Florida to arrest Roger Stone and his wife at 6 AM in the morning.
