“A day with my dachshund and puppies” from Eveline, Loulou’s Mom in The Netherlands

6 healthy puppies. 4 males and 2 females. I was alone, prepared for the worst. Everything was ready for her birth. Phone in my hand to call the vet. The vet didn’t come yet because it could take hours. The first pup came with the paws first and the last with the head. I had to help because the bag he was in was stuck around his neck. Loulou is a born mother she did everything needed. Beautiful to see. It was no longer necessary for the vet to come, it went so well and if there is anything she will be there in 5 minutes. I can’t believe that Loulou brought 6 healthy puppies into this world, so proud. Everything is going so well, also with Loulou, she is very slim now and she still gets food 4 times a day. Be prepared for puppy spam in the coming period. We are in love. Xxx Eveline

Tis that time of the year again, our ancient BC is doing her shedding in clumps. Her fur is as thick as sheep’s wool but only about 2″ long and is flat against her well-stuffed body so when these patches of bound hair start coming out she looks like one of those poor Yellowstone elk in Spring. She’s easy to track, she leaves a trail of loose and chunky hair and furballs, which mixes nicely with the cat hair the felines shed.

We sweep up the equivalent of a corgi weekly, all of the various fur from the herd seems to find itself in the wilderness, meeting and clumping and forming softball-size clumps. When you combine the swept mass with that ‘fluffed’ out of various items in the dryer you figure they must rest so much as their metabolisms need to recuperate from constantly regenerating fur.
