St. Peter’s is the seat of Papal power and is located in Vatican City. It was designed at the height of the Renaissance by the famous artist Michelangelo and has the tallest dome in the world, measuring more than 136 meters. It has become one of the most popular tourist sites in Europe, and is the largest church in the world, with an internal area of 15160 square meters that stretches over 186 meters in length.
The largest Basilica of Christianity has a capacity of 60,000 people and there are many architects who have worked on its design including Donato Bramante, Raphael, Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, Michelangelo, Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola, Giacomo Della Porta, Carlo Maderno, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. One of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture is considered to be the holiest Catholic shrines and “greatest of all churches of Christendom”.

I was looking at bathing suits on sale recently and trying to decide what would be good. It finally came to me. With my sensitivity to the sun, the perfect suit would be a burkini with a balaclave and gloves. LOL

I can only guarantee you that whatever it is, is foreign to me. I was feeling pretty good about it blooming and surviving then I went down to my mum’s house and saw what it should look like. My Christmas Cactus really looks kind of peaked compared to a healthy plant. **Sigh***

I am 4th Level (Professional)! My Eldest Sister was a Regional Manager for Waffle House. Starting when I was 12, she would take me with her on weekends and holidays to work. At 13, I could cook the perfect Omelet, Waffle House Style. I was a pretty good chef if I had someone tall to give me a hand.

What a great experience for you! Expert in cooking is a worthwhile pursuit and if you can learn from family members, all the better.
When I was in high school, cooking classes were offered and I took one semester. Omelets weren’t on the agenda, though. Anything complicated or that took up too much class time or items that were too expensive for the school budget, were out.. In baked items, I got an F in bread making, LOL! I did OK in simple items like scrambled eggs, fried bacon, mashed potatoes, soups, salads, fudge, mayonnaise, and even canapes–which were the most fun.

Home Ec, for girls only, was divided into one semester of sewing and one semester of cooking. I recall the final dinner we prepared, for the Shop Class (boys only). It was horrible: we were told to put uncooked spaghetti in a casserole dish, pour a jarred spaghetti sauce over it and bake for 1/2 hour, and we made green jello for dessert. The spaghetti was undercooked. We made sweet potatoes with mini marshmallows for the other cooking event, just before Thanksgiving.

The only thing I can remember cooking in Home Ec, was lima beans. We put frozen lima beans in a pan and boiled them. Each of us got a full plate of lima beans to eat. If everyone didn’t clean their whole plate, we wouldn’t be able to cook again. I didn’t, don’t, and won’t eat lima beans. All the other girls were staring at me as I stared at my plate and almost threw up just looking at it. Finally, a girl who (used to, I am sure) loved lima beans grabbed my plate and ate all of it, too. They all pretty much hated me after that.

Our cooking class teacher was a woman in her 30s–a good looking and stylish brunette. She talked about things other than cooking. She loved jewelry and liked to give us pointers on various gems.
I remember one story she told of when got engaged to marry, she told her fiance that she would only accept a platinum/diamond ring set with the diamonds being as flawless as possible. In those days (mid-50s), us country girls pretty much took what we could get and we admired her for getting her way. LOL!
Her best friend was my singing teacher who’d been a professional singer. Anyway, these two ladies were rather envied by the older female teachers—one of them, my sewing teacher, mentioned to me that they dressed a little too flashy for her taste (which now that I think of it was a very inappropriately catty thing to say to a student. LOL!).
That sewing teacher also talked about accessorizing and told the class that proper wearing of jewelry meant that there should only be three pieces (points of light, she called them) worn at the same time! You could wear a pair of earrings and a necklace or earrings with a ring/ring set, but no more, as a woman should not be ostentatious. Oh wow, a flood of ridiculous memories are overcoming me and I’m laughing so hard I can barely type…hahahaha! Her advice on dating was equally as hilarious.

My Grandpa taught me how to make proper biscuits when I was 8. My Mom also taught me how to follow simple recipes, so I could cook for us all when she had to work! I can pretty much cook just about anything, but there’s a feeling of dread at the Waffle House when a couple of buses of hungry people would show up, LOL.
One of my DH’s favorite jokes is when he tells someone I made “surf and turf”! Hamburger Helper, and Tuna Helper!

I just remembered an incident with my 4 year old granddaughter when I was there. They both had a virus and the two year old developed a rash all over her body. (The doctor said that was not that unusual for a child her age with a virus). When I commented that I didn’t think I had a rash, the 4 yr old got right up close to me and said, “I don’t think we can see a rash because of the wrinkles.” LOL
