Another beautiful old church located in the heart of a busy city – this time, in New York. First opened in 1879, it was at the city outskirts. From their website:

Ridiculed as “Hughes’ Folly,” as the proposed, near-wilderness site was considered too far outside the city, Archbishop Hughes, nonetheless, persisted in his daring vision of building the most beautiful Gothic Cathedral in the New World in what he believed would one day be “the heart of the city.” Neither the bloodshed of the Civil War nor the resultant lack of manpower or funds would derail the ultimate fulfillment of Hughes’ dream and architect, James Renwick’s bold plan.

Here’s another: the UN is saying that the US cannot avoid paying reparations to poorer nations to compensate them for the US’s part in the climate change that’s unfairly impacting them.

Now I’d be happier were China to be included in that but as China would tell the UN to go pound sand and many US politicians are only too happy to heave taxpayers’ dollars at 3rd world sh*thole countries. Wonder what the UN would do if we said that any monies we gave these perpetual basket cases would have previous funds we gave to them for development, adjusted for inflation from donation to date, deducted from the amount?

OK, if that’s how they feel about it, let’s cut off all U.S. foreign aid to the poorer nations. They’re likely poor because of graft and embezzlement of their respective governments anyway.

We’ll reinstate it only if the rulers divest of their vast hordes of gold and put it back in their treasuries to pay for education, seeding entrepreneurship, cleaning up their water sources, and distributing food and farm animals to the people along with education on how to properly take care of them. The rulers don’t comply, then let the Europeans pay their fair share directly, bypassing the inept UN, since Europe is more responsible for creating failed states in the first place than we are.

Let’s stop our foreign aid and let the Chinese, with their vast hoard of wealth, fund these countries. The Chinese will find out in short order how grateful these nations are and how little of the money/products provided get down to the street level. Or maybe we could send a shipload of liberal US social workers, count their combined weight as compost and value them as compost. They don’t solve any problems here (without spending huge amounts of taxpayer dollars) and probably won’t solve any issues in the countries we send them to but at least we’ll get some value out of them.

Something quite annoying happened this morning. Realizing I hadn’t cleared my browsing data for a while, I went to the correct Google Chrome page, hit the link and saw that for some reason the link to also clear the cookies was checked (which it has never been; so don’t ask me how it got checked!). I tried immediately to stop the procedure, but it wouldn’t cease clearing. I thought, oh, well, how bad can it be.

This bad…the procedure cleared AdBlock. Ok, so I went to their website to re-start it. Google won’t let me…says my programming is not compatible. A few minutes earlier it was compatible. Now it can’t be reinstated and the ads are not only as annoying as ever, but there are more of them than ever. My other browser, Safari, is ancient in its programming, too; so no relief there or for Firefox. So I guess a new Mini MAC is going on my wish list for Christmas.

In addition, Word will not now let me click on the “like” link to see who has liked a certain post. LOL! Sometimes ya jes’ gotta laugh!

I have been having trouble with my laptop, too. It has been worked on from top to bottom twice by the Geek Squad. They are trying to tell me I need more memory. I don’t believe that because all I do is check email, do a little surfing on occasion, and save about 200 pictures. I was told when I bought this, if that was all I do, there was way more than I needed.

The script that keeps coming up says there is a webpage that is slowing down the page. Also, one that says, “Script:chrome://global/content custom Elements.:jg.:373.” I googled that and found a lot of people have that come up. It appears to me that the problem is chrome and even if you don’t have chrome on your computer, it uses some chrome language. Makes me mad because things were going pretty well until I started doing some updates I had neglected. Now look at this mess. 😦

Even with updating my hard drive to the max at the local Apple store, Firefox still says I need at least the next upgrade in order to re-install them. So apparently I really must buy a brand new Mini Max hard drive.

When I worked, our IT department took care of everything for me…just called them and they came right over if there were any problems. Not fixable? Then a new computer would be brought over immediately. A TOTAL LUXURY! LOL!

    1) Awesome gingerbread house.

    2) Yesterday’s Labour shellacking (worst defeat in 100 years) was so grievous that Jeremy Corbyn has announced that he will resign as Labour Party Leader.

    3) The democrats are committing political suicide.

    4) AG Bill Barr said that people are whining “When will there be arrests?”

Barr shrugged and said “These things take time” and then smiled like the cat who ate the canary.

    5) Hmmm… It seems President Trump and Nigel Farage have been chatting, President Trump tying good things for the England to Brexit.

Congratulations to Boris Johnson on his great WIN! Britain and the United States will now be free to strike a massive new Trade Deal after BREXIT. This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the E.U. Celebrate Boris!__President Trump

    6) ’tis the season.

    7) The gift of modern medicine.

    8) No fault in the logic.

    9) Hank Johnson (D-GA) is in favor of impeachment because;

In NY in September at the UN big chair for President Trump Little chair for President Zelinsky, Big 6’ 4” President Trump, 5’ 11” Mr. Zelinsky, President Zelinsky”__Hank the Island Tipper

Oh and also because President Zelinsky’s daughter may have been duct taped in the White House basement even as Zelinsky was publicly saying that he was not intimidated. (Presumably by President Trump himself 😎).

Wonderful Smiles, lovely! #8…Precious German Shepherd…you can tell he’s a good doggie!

#9…What to say about Hank Johnson? Profound ignorance bordering on increasing mental incapacity, and a total lack of common sense or discernment. Isn’t there even one person of intelligence in his district who could primary him and win?

#6…Getting the tree and decorating it was always a fun adventure. My childhood home was a block away from a small shopping center and every Christmas the corner of the parking lot was given over to tree sales. If there were any trees left on Christmas morning, the salesman allowed the townspeople to take the trees home, which saved time in having to dispose of the leftovers. My sister and I would go over to the lot as soon as we awoke and each of us bring home our own tree for our rooms…if there were any left small enough to carry, that is.

#1…Gingerbread dough creates a Van Gogh!

        What a beautiful memory.

My dad always took us girls, I don’t remember my mum every going with, she always had hot chocolate and cookies waiting when we got home. One year, when I was still too young to remember, we woke up Christmas morning and our tree had shed all of its needles and was completely bare !

        • Lucille says:

Aww, completely bare of needles! We never had that happen but then we seldom had much heat on in the house to dry the tree out. We always left our tree up until New Year’s Day and dismantled it after watching the Pasadena Rose Parade.

Dad usually bought a grand fir…

…while Sis and I preferred anything that was color sprayed…one year I got a pink tree for my room.

No idea what kind of tree it was but I do know it was an odd year and they set it up on Christmas Eve, rather than December 1st. So maybe it just had been sitting in a freezing lot for a month and dried out? Don’t know, my mum said she heard the needles tinkling down all night but didn’t know what it was 😂

With 3 Jewish holidays coming up this month the Palestinians have, after the UN declared the Jews have no historical claim to the Mount, allowed the Jews to enter thru the only gate the non-Moslems can use to access the Mount and pray! To add insult to injury Jewish police patrol the Mount to ensure that non-Moslems don’t pray and insult the Religion of Peace occupiers.

The Jews have not been allowed to pray on the Mount by The Religion of Peace, they can visit on certain days/times, but not pray. One also wonders if an altercation this August where some visiting Jews began to pray and were attacked and assaulted by Moslems who have open visitation, an altercation where a whole buncha Moslems went to the hospital versus four minor injuries to the Jews they attacked, played a role?

Anywho, for the time being the Palestinian Religion of Peace authorities are generously allowing Jews to pray on the Mount as long as they keep the volume down and otherwise pray ‘unobtrusively’. All I want for Chanukah is a perfect red heifer.
