Just like Debbie Dingell, widow of John Dingell, who now represents Michigan’s 12th District, following her husband, and her husband’s father. The Dingell family has represented the 12th Congressional District since 1932, when the 12th District was formed.
Maya Rockeymoore, widow of Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., and chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party, is expected to run for her late husband’s House seat, according to a report.
Rockeymoore has not yet said whether she plans to run, The Washington Examiner reported.
The Maryland Democratic Party released a statement that Rockeymoore would not be making announcements while she grieves.
“We ask the public and the press to allow Maryland Democratic Party Chair Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings — and the rest of the Cummings family — time and space to grieve their loss,” the party said.
Since she is 20 years younger than her husband, Elijah Cummings, she probably has many years ahead of her representing the people of Baltimore. Recently she gave up her bid for the governor’s office in Maryland.
Rockeymoore, 48, has previously worked for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, served as chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., and was a staffer on the House Ways and Means Committee. She also ran for governor in Maryland but dropped out when Cummings was hospitalized in 2018.
Cummings was elected to his seat in Maryland’s 7th Congressional District in 1996 and served 12 terms until his death due to underlying health conditions.

Why not? She’s a professional left wing politician, never having had an honest job. Her background is politics, her education is politics, she even married into politics, she’s a pedigreed shepherd of black sheep. She was marinated in Mel Watt, basted with Chuckie Rangel and finished with Elijah Cummings and ia a main course on the Maryland Rat buffet table.
It’;s not about being qualified to lead the country, it’s about grabbing what she can for her flock. She’ll fit right in bthe Congressional Black Caucus, her primary focus.

I see he had three children, one daughter by his first wife, a boy and a girl by other relationships not described as “married”, and none by this woman. Perhaps the children will show up later to run for the family seat if she holds it for a while.

I was away from the news and my computer for the past 3 days. She must succeed her husband, how else can she coverup his misdeeds and crimes.
I do not suppose this is the type of gerrymandering people are pretending to complain about. A Congressional district created for one man and held by that man’s son and daughter-in-law since 1932. Was she only married to Junior Dingall or both father and son? Corruption cover-up goes into hyperdrive.

Debbie was just married to Dingell Jr. Like Cumming’s wife, she is considerably younger than her husband was – 25 years or more, if I remember correctly.

Once again the people of a district will be “represented” by someone who represents herself first, last, and always. Will she work any harder than hubby did to clean up the 7th district? With her connections, that district could be the cleanest in North America. But, nah! The motive to run for the “family” seat is to keep her name on the party and Party list in WDC. Constituents…who, what, WHY?
I predict she will run for and win Speaker of the House should Nancy become further incapacitated.

Nancy is doing just fine where she is. She has done well for herself considering she was born Stupid and capitalized on it.
The Widow Cummings can move into the front-runner spot for the Democrat nomination in 2020.

Nancy was also from a political family. Her father and her brother were mayors of Baltimore. Her father was also a Democrat Congressman.
