Saw this today….hahahaha…some days you just feel like this….

“Life is just one damned thing after another.”
Attributed to Elbert Hubbard 1859–1915 American writer: in “Philistine” December 1909 (apparently “Philistine” was some type of periodical), and a bunch of other guys.

I also like, “You might as well laugh,” though I don’t know who wrote it FIRST…I did find it written years ago in one of my notebooks…so it might be me…LOL!

It is 47 here right now. My husband realized this morning that we lost the box of warmer clothes I packed to keep with us, just in case it got colder before we find a house. Trip to search through storage units on the horizon this weekend.

Years ago, when we moved from southern GA to upstate NY, near the end of November, my husband packed my ONLY coat. It turned out to be a good thing. I had to run to Walmart and buy a new one and it turned out to be a very heavy coat which was exactly what I needed. My old one wasn’t really warm enough for up north.

In 1978 I moved from Miami to Northern Utah in August. September 14th it snowed several feet! Rather than buy a coat, I borrowed down jackets from friends and asked my mother to send the beige cashmere coat she bought in 1952 for $200. It was very warm, had a beautiful satin lining and kept me warm for 3 winters! Only used it a few days a year after I moved to New Orleans & finally gave it to the Salvation Army a couple of years ago.

LOL I had lived in subtropical climates and southern Calif. until I was 40 something. I had always wondered how people up North stayed warm. What I discovered was that I had only had what Northerners might have called a “light jacket” for a coat until I went to upstate NY. Luckily, I bought a “real” coat and found out that is how you stay warm up North.

I have a M-65 field jacket in the original woodland pattern camo from the late 70s before it became standard. Blasted thing’s over 40 years old but still looks good and does keep me warm…on the rare days I need it.

Mornin’ all…..Fall weather here has been ‘brisk’ for the last two weeks, however, yesterday the temperature hit 70 and I was able to finish the last of the outside painting. Forecast calls for low 60’s today and tomorrow and then it looks like Sunday the temperatures will start falling back into the 40’s. Winter is fast approaching and I am almost ready to ‘hunker down’.

Mornin’ Lucille…Thank you. I do have plans to post a final picture of the completed exterior, however, before I post the picture, I have one final task that I want to complete. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to share the photo with you sometime next week.

However, if you want photos, I’ll post downthread, a couple photos from a ‘project’ in September, that was probably one of the most satisfying and fun ‘projects’ I’ve ever undertaken.

Enjoy your day as well Lucille, keep warm.

It has started: Anti-impeachment protest forming

Amid all the star chamber secrecy in what is fundamentally an unfair “legal’ process in the House to remove President Trump, street protests are beginning to form. The Daily Caller tweeted out one happening in Washington just a few minutes ago…

Lucille, Ya know that I’m a big lover of ‘history’ and I get excited about old concrete steps so….Long Story My building stands on the NE corner of the middle of three blocks that were once a booming & thriving business district of the town. The 8 lots across the street to the east of me have been abandoned. I ‘adopted’ the lots and have seen that they are mowed and ‘presentable.’ The following photo is part of that property.

You can make out the outlines of where a sidewalk once was, but 70 years of wind, it appeared that only pieces of the sidewalk remained. One day, my contractor wasn’t really in the mood to work and was playing on his bobcat. I told him that it sure would be interesting to see what kind of shape that covered sidewalk was in…..and he began – I was amazed at the amount of dirt that had encroached over the property in just 70 years:

Perhaps a GoFundMe account for city beautification where city or county folk may donate re a park is in the works?

:0) Our mayor, who is almost eighty, uses his own tractor to clear all the streets during the winter. The post office has a can for donations to pay him for his fuel. That’s about as close to a GoFundMe account that you will find among the community. :0)

BTW, got a National Guard or Reserve Engineer/Seabee unit in the area? Sometimes you can talk the commander into taking on a limited public project as part of their regular training.

In Utah we had an Army, a Navy and an Air Force group of units working together to build a community park. Can’t guarantee it will work and they may only be able to do what they can with their organic equipment but it’s free and better than nothing.

Small town (pop ~2900) is like that. There are small stores still open though some of the larger ones have died out. The two farm supply stores in town died out over the last 10 years leaving one local one and one national chain one, both just outside of town, open.

Part of the downtown block burned down a few years ago and there’s no real move to rebuild anything but the city’s cleaned the lots up and use them as something of a public space. Still a lot of empty stores.

The Fred’s Pharmacy that opened a few years back and threatened to close the mom and pop drugstore (the one that still has the real old-timey soda fountain in the back) seems to be circling the drain and the mom & pop is still chugging along. A local grocery store took a shot and built/opened a newer and more full-service right-sized store so that locals don’t have to go 15 to 20 miles for a Walmart…that’s working.

County court house is still in town though some tax-related services have moved to the larger city over 20 miles south. Court house was built in 1892 and has the same concrete steps now it hadf in ’92 on the side and they’re well-worn with untold feet having worn those grooves. It also has a monument outside that commemorates ALL of the county’s military who gonev off to America’s wars right up through the GWT.

    Good evening.
Need a good laugh, or even just a smile?

The ex destroyed my credit rating for my next 3 lifetimes. Not an uncommon story.
Received a letter today from Sprint/Experian, turning down “my” request for an increase in “my” credit limit.
    For which I never asked.
With a company with whom I have never done business.

Eventually, the ex will do you a good turn, despite years and years of abuse, even against the ex’s will.

Ukrainians demanded recall of U.S. ambassador fired by president

I think that she was relying on the Ukraine being a 2nd tier, at least, country that she could work her prog agenda in while the Administration was deeply concerned elsewhere. The fact that Trump was in and ignored her shenanigans emboldened her and she just flew until she ran outta fuel.

She knew she was on the radar so why dialback? She was almost certainly told she’d be rewarded for her prog service once she was canned and returned to the US.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
