Tomorrow is the big day for Apollo 11 – landing on the lunar surface. Apollo 11 slows down and goes into lunar orbit.

Here is an analysis of the Lunar Module, as broadcast by ABC news in 1969.

      Morning lovely! Hope you got some good rest. 🙂 Snoopy ❤️❤️❤️! Love the potato idea… so easy to do, too. I might try that over the weekend. Wonder if it would work with sweet potatoes and use a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar instead of the salt and pepper? I think today is going to be a really big news day, but I won’t be commenting much… my older DD is coming over with the littles for the day. Have a happy Friday and I’ll catch up when I can!

          I don’t know if it ended up being the big news day that folks thought it would be, but sometimes we find out a few days after the fact, that POTUS signed some amazing EO or something like that. We were so busy playing… but we did actually watch a little TV…Baby Einstein. 😉

      Great list lovely, and good morning. That potato reminds me of how I used to cook them a long, long time ago, before I worried about fried foods and carbs. I had this little doohickey which was a blade with a plastic screw on the end. You stuck it in the potato and turned it and it made the whole potato an intact spiral. Season, deep fry, yum.

      Yeah, but every now and then that eagle, when fishing that lake, will still mess up and pancake in. It’s sad watching one, sopping wet, have to dog paddle its way out of the lake. Gotta watch your front also and not lose perspective.

But, I love the memes and the whole idea we might finally get to see what they have: from space aliens to UFO aircraft. The whole “Independence Day” movie thing, when we go in & see the flying saucer, and Brent Spiner (the robot Data from Star Trek) as the crazy-haired scientist!!!! Love the movie! Always disappointed in the presidents who promised to tell us what is there, then back off and never do…..🤔 Hmmmm…

        the whole area 51 thing is amusing I don’t know if any of folks planning to storm will really show up or not but I’m with Scott on that one.

        Always disappointed in the presidents who promised to tell us what is there, then back off and never do..

        Right? Finally a president is doing rather than blathering and the people in power don’t like it a bit.

          Actually I knew Snoopy’s parents, Burt and Betina Beagle, quite well. They gave their son a fine start, encouraged him to think for himself, and to be caring and kind.

          Don’t believe anything seen in those cartoons which indicate he’s occasionally hard on Charlie Brown. He’s devoted to Charlie and wants him to believe in himself, that’s all.

          Btw, Snoopy came from a long-time Conservative family and voted for President Trump.

      Hey sand, hope you have great fun with your littles today. Mine are coming over for a little while this morning, at least two are. Next week I get two more of my boys for 8 days, and that will be a wild ride because the two year old is, as his dad words things, a “keep your foot on their throat” kind of kid. Not bad at all, just a two year old who does not have one ounce of give in in him. And he never, ever gets tired or stops.

      Makes me wonder how I kept up with three kids like that all the time back in the day. And then I remember, oh yeah, I was forty years younger.

        I get our GGS today, last few weeks until school starts in early August.. He’ll be 12 on Sunday, last real year before he enters those Years From Hell.

        Interesting how you can watch them grow, mature and change easier than you could your own – but then now you’re not really down in the trenches with them.

        Then again I have the dreaded yearly hunt for school supplies. Walmart has their regular Yellow Isles from Hell (lotta that ‘hell’ stuffaround) where you try, along with an equally frustrated herd of parents, to decode what is on the school’s list of mostly unnecessary supplies and match it what Walmart’s put on the bins. It’s like Pavlov did their marketing plan, you dread it all year long and then about four weeks before the start of the season they start putting the rows of yellow bins out make you start sweating and cringing.

          I used to get so outraged at school supply lists, both the vagueness of including things that make the danged thing like a treasure hunt, and the teachers adding everything but a car to the list.

          Yes to watching the grandkids grow up. It is a lot more fun than raising kids for sure. Lots of involvement, opportunity to help out, to influence them, but no called in to the principle’s office meetings.

            Mine went to parochial school through 8th grade, so I never had to contend with this. Glad I missed it.

              Yep, mine went to parochial schools too, except for two years I think it was. Mine had lists from both schools, but public schools were a lot worse.

            In like the idea that when they turn into pains you can send them home.

            We had those meetings with the GGS’s teachers and staff. Back when hisc ADHD was at issue we lived there. HIs Mom isn’t really as versed in the business ass wecare and doesn’t know the right words (lawyer is a great one) to make the bureaucracy work. It was a long drive there but we did get a good seafood lunch/dinner out of the trips.

        Had a friend whose two-year-old went 100 miles an hour and his hair on fire from when he woke up til he just dropped on the floor and slept, then woke up from his nap and went on like he never stopped til he fell asleep after dinner, right where he was standing at the moment.

          My oldest son was exactly like that. He used to end his day by rocking on his rocking horse, which he pounded off the floor frame and all, bouncing it six or eight inches with every bounce. He kept breaking frames and springs and we kept repairing. Finally, with the last and biggest rocking horse we found him, my husband welded a custom frame with heavy duty springs. He used to fall asleep on the horse every night, draped around its neck.

        Evening Menagerie! Thank you! It was such a fun day. I was busy busy, but I bet I’ll sleep really well tonight. The kids are really sweet and so much fun.

      Wheeeeee…finally got tired of the OTC pain pills just taking the edge off of the arthritis/back pain so I broke out a 10 megaton pill and slept like a rock. Didn’t wake up even when the 22-pound Fat Thing decided to practice his climbing skills at early hours.

    Well the news is claiming that Trump’s backing off of his ‘send ’em home’ tweet on Rep Imar. I’d suggest that someone start a GoFundMe account to buy her ticket and, that if she refuses, the money be donated to a charity helping Christians, Jews and other religious groups who’ve been attacked and murdered by the Islamic Religion of Peace in the Mideast.

    Look, the guy cracks me up and I won’t apologize for it. Case in point, the Trump campaign is selling a 10-pack of recyclable plastic straws, laser-engraved with the word “TRUMP” because, as the campaign tells it, “liberal paper straws don’t work.”

    I don’t have to agree with every policy position to find that hilarious. Especially since it’s caused publications like VICE to get in their feelings about it and write pieces about the inferior quality, the only “theoretical” recyclability, and the (guffaw) market attractiveness of said straws…

    The lunar module vid is great, quite informative, made in the days when newsmen spoke in calm, authoritative voices, with nothing but facts.

    The scientists that designed the lunar module were brilliant, near-genius level minds. Which may explain something never reported by any newsman anywhere – there was no handle to open the lunar module door to re-enter the vehicle after traipsing on the moon. The one astronaut, forget which one, had to prop the door so they could get back in and go home.
