Wow, you got some real Trump cultsters next door. Someone posted a small bit on how Trumps largely responsible for the civil unrest in Hong Kong right now and I mentioned that this unrest predates Trump’s inauguration by more than a decade. China’s been unable to get HK to drink the koor aid and has been stepping up the pressure and Chinese diddling is causing problems in HK all over the place. This has less to do with Trump’s tariff measures than it does the mainland’s bumbling in trying to take over a city that doesn’t want to be taken over.

I got a mostly incoherent reply from a cultist, best I can make out she was charging me with heresy. What does Trump have to do with mainland top-down, half-assed mismanagement of housing, transportation, banking, ect, ect, etc over the last 10 years plus have to do with Trump? What does Trump have to do with this latest mainland-pushed extradition bill that’s caused all of the recent dustup? He does quite enough for credit, they needn’t have to go out ginning things up, it just tarnishes the things he does.

Well you know how it is on the internet, and some people refuse to have a give and take discussion. I know that I have realized that I am wrong or that there are points that I haven’t considered (hard to believe, I know) when having a real discussion about an issue.

I got into it with a libertarian on a gardening forum on Facebook yesterday about food preparation regulation. He was against it. Said the market would sort it out. I asked him if that would help the people who were killed as a result of ignorance. I pointed out a case where a friend of mine was hospitalized and several people died as a result of improperly canned peppers served in a Mexican restaurant (canning in their kitchen was prohibited by law.) He said I know nothing about free market capitalism.

Exactly how far do libertarians go when it comes to law? In my mind, killing people by poor food preparation and taking their money by selling said food is manslaughter. Providing guidelines/regulation for food preparation is a public service, in my mind.

This all started in a discussion about how it is mean to not allow people to sell whatever home prepared food they want to sell at farmers’ markets.

        His exact quote:

Liability should fall to the consumer, not the business. But times have changed. Determination of risk should be up to the consumer.

Companies that sell bad food or products don’t stay in business.

I agree. To me this defies common sense. I know that the government can go too heavy on regulation. I get it. I also understand that people who prepare food don’t always know what is safe and what is not safe. We need guidelines and regulations for the safety of the consumers, AND those who are preparing food and may not know what is correct and what is not.

I told this guy that a close friend of mine almost died from botulism poisoning due to improperly canned pepper sauce prepared by a restaurant employee. Several people died, and others were hospitalized. Here’s the story:

n 1977 at the mexican restaurant Trini and Carmen’s served a sauce made with improperly canned jalepenos in Pontiac, Michigan. Type B Botulism was first recorded three days after the sauce was served. Ultimately, 58 people got seriously sick. This was the second outbreak in the U.S. due to improperly canned jalepenos.

It says here that nobody died, but I was sure that there were a couple of deaths.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked if he believed Obama was behind the setup.

“I would say that he certainly must have known about it because it went very high up in the chain. But you’re gonna find that out. I’m not gonna make that statement quite yet. But I would say that President Obama had to know about it,” Trump said.

Well well well. Obama’s running around like a chicken whose treasonous deeds are coming home to roost and President Trump says you’re gonna find out about Obama’s role in the coup, not ”we’re” not investigators but you’re the concrete evidence is in, now it is simply a matter of time of when the Trump card is played. I wonder if any of the semi-big cabal players are wired.

That’s another thing about Liberterians and Facebook. According to that crowd Iran could nuke the world and there would be no credible proof of wrong doing.

Is there anything actually they believe in defending? You know me well enough to know I am not advocating war. I don’t know all the facts and I danged sure don’t have all the answers. But I know pre WWII history and it sure didn’t work well for Europe to turn the other cheek, that much I know.

I saw this picture of Sarah Sanders and President Trump and I was awe struck by the love that Sanders emits for our President. Not only for our president but for the good man that Donald J. Trump is and (now I am mind reading) but she seems pained, pained for how President Trump is maligned by so many evil people and so many stupid members of the Cult of Madness.

And then I thought to myself, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Jim Acosta, Rosie O’Donnell, Cher, the whole lot of awful people who are trying to destroy our beautiful nation and our patriotic, good willed president have absolutely no one in their world who loves them like this.

President Trump has dozens of people who know him intimately and love him for who he is. They love who he is.

The others. The Hillary crowd, have no genuine warmth in their lives, they are all pawns, all a means, none are loved for their genuineness because they have none. They are truly evil pitiful people.

No one loves them, No one not in the true sense of the word. They are users and used that is the core of their existence.

    Sad.

Today when rummaging around in beach and ocean photos on the Big I, one article mentioned the five oceans…it caused me to stop for a moment and try to recall what those oceans are. The Pacific and the Atlantic are obvious to those who live along their shores. But, for goodness sake, what are the others? I remembered that Australia is partly on the Indian Ocean (that’s three)…and I knew there is an Arctic Ocean. But what in the world is the 5th one? I had to look it up…though upon finding the answer, I felt like…”Oh, of course…!!!” The SOUTHERN OCEAN!

Adelie penguins on an iceberg in the Southern Ocean (photo by David Barinhaus, Australian Antarctic Division) Does it look like they use the iceberg as a slippery slide?

flower481 posted this next door on the Pres. Thread. I thought there were probably a lot here would would be happy to hear it.

Just saw this over at TGP…https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/06/paul-manafort-was-headed-to-notorious-and-dangerous-rikers-island-jail-then-ag-bill-barrs-deputy-intervened/

Attorney General Bill Barr’s new Deputy Jeffrey Rosen, sent a letter to Manhattan prosecutors warning them he is monitoring where Paul Manafort would be held in New York, reported the New York Times.

Manhattan prosecutors were surprised to receive a letter from the second-highest law enforcement official in the country inquiring about Mr. Manafort’s case. The letter, from Jeffrey A. Rosen, Attorney General William P. Barr’s new top deputy, indicated that he was monitoring where Mr. Manafort would be held in New York.

And then, on Monday, federal prison officials weighed in, telling the Manhattan district attorney’s office that Mr. Manafort, 70, would not be going to Rikers.

Instead, he will await his trial at a federal lockup in Manhattan or at the Pennsylvania federal prison where he is serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for wide-ranging financial schemes, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

This move by Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen was described as “unusual” by Department of Justice officials.

Todd Blanche, a lawyer for Paul Manafort said the DOJ intervening is unusual, however , he argued that Manafort shouldn’t be facing state charges for the same ‘crimes’ he was already charged with on a federal level.

“You’ll find no example of someone like Mr. Manafort being prosecuted by the feds and then by the district attorney for exactly the same conduct,” Mr. Blanche said.

According to the New York Times, Manafort is to be arraigned next week.

I rarely do this, as it usually invites vituperative responses and the flaming goes on for day…OK, next door, it hasn’t happened here yet. I’m going to put a toe over into the red zone; you know, the area where when (if you’re my age) in parochial where when you asked the question the bear-sized nun expanded to her full height and breadth and warned you that you were treading into heresy and the Father who taught the religion classes hissed that it was ‘a diviiiine mysssstery not to be known by us!”! Again, my school was mostly French Canadian and Polish nuns and clergy, hard liners specialized in making sure you knew the entire heavenly hierarchy governed through fear.

Last night in a small town outside of New Orleans three men who’d stopped to help a car that had slammed into the guard rail on an elevated expressway were hit and killed by a drunk driver. I hear this a number of times a year which is why I park a specific way if I stop to help someone and if I have anyone with me I don’t get out – I call 911. Anyway…

The elevated expressway is a 6-lane deal that speeds traffic through the suburbs allowing drivers to avoid the congestion below. It’s known to be hazardous as folks drive like idiots up there and drunks use it so they don’t have to navigate through the traffic lights and cops at ground level, anyone who drives it regularly knows it’s an antsy place which is why the samaritans most likely stopped.

The samaritans were in two cards, two men in one and one in the other. They stopped when the saw the other car spin out and hit the rail. There’s a generous service lane, almost 3/4 of a traffic lane, on both sides of the express way. They parked, turned their emergency signals on and while they were out helping the driver of the damaged car a drunk driver hit them, knocking them over the rail and onto the roadway below, killing all three. Whether they were dead before they went over or died from the fall or a combination of the hit/fall isn’t being said yet but all three men died.

The two men in the first car to stop were lifelong friends while the third, lone, man was a stranger who just stopped. There’s nothing being said about the status of the lone man, he isn’t identified yet. Of the two friends one was the pastor of a small church. It’s one of those small congregations you see where very blue collar, just for the love of God and Jesus, start up a congregation in a rented space and build a community of friends based on that love. Their pastor is now dead, he stopped on Father’s Day night, returning home to his family after having earlier preached a Father’s Day sermon. Now he’s dead leaving behind a crushed wife and two young children and a devastated and leaderless congregation. There was nothing said about if the other two men killed left families behind but all considered it’s not out of the question to think so. The drunk is fine.

These people don’t look like they have large insurance policies to cover the loss of their family heads and it doesn’t look like the the drunk has anything to sue so…

The small congregation now has to either go back to venues that didn’t meet their needs or try and find another pastor, all of the time dealing with the memory of what happened.

I’m no stranger to death and destruction on a massive scale but for some reason this particular case has been weighing on me all day, it’s like an itch you can’t scratch and that won’t go away. It’s really a small case, nothing like much of the stuff I’ve been involved with and really not that much worse than the nightly news – there were other killings in NOLA on Father’s Day. For whatever reason this one’s got me asking ‘what was God thinking?”. Two small children, a wife and a small and intimately connected congregation watch their chosen pastor and friend preach a Father’s Day sermon, KNOWING that he made ‘father’ comparisons and had to have mentioned a ‘father’s love’ then later that night the policeman comes to the door…

Is there some plan, some great divine mystery or are we just left to float, get broken and pick up the pieces with some Divine intervention at intervals? How do you explain to two small children how their loving father who preaches the grace of our loving Father was taken away after preaching a sermon on the loving Father on Father’s Day and changed their lives forever? I wouldn’t want that job and I have nothing but reverence and sympathy for whoever has to try.
And then there are the other families…

I know this is just another thread in the rope of misery that binds us all, and I don’t know why this one effects me so much but all I can say is; God, what were you thinking? Feel free to flame, nothing you can say will make me feel any worse than I do.

I don’t know why anyone here would flame you for what you just said. I think all of us have wondered at one time or another why something happens – particularly when bad things happen to good people.

I don’t think that God makes things like this happen. We humans have free will to do good or bad things. Or even just stupid things that result in terrible outcomes, like the drunk who hit those three men. I suppose God could have stopped it from happening, but none of us know all of the circumstances, or what will be the ultimate outcome for those who are left behind.
