Thanks S & S, we’re doing pretty well. My husband, twins, & the dog are out of town this weekend bringing in treestands, chopping wood, & having target practice at the extended family’s hunting shack. We’re all looking forward to the holiday weekend we traditionally spend Up North at my parents’ Cottage where there’s a lot of work to be done getting the place ready for Summer visits.
My aunt is planning a visit & we’re supposed to spend some time digging into family history stuff–which is always a treat!

Sounds like fun holiday plans! We’re doing well. Staying busy and working a lot. The grandkids have been passing croup, colds, and other stuff back and forth, so I haven’t been able to see them recently, but preschool is wrapping up, so hopefully the three year old will stop getting sick and sharing it with baby sister and his parents. Next Sunday Charlie Daniels will be doing an outdoor concert here and that’s what we plan to do to celebrate the holiday. Good to see you!

Sorry so much sickness has been going around, but that’s fairly standard fair with young kids (if memory serves 🙂 ). Hope you enjoy that concert & reprieve from usual days.
Sickness kept my daughter’s boyfriend (a Bernie supporter last election–yikes) from going North with our guys this weekend. It might have been just a bit too much red-blooded conservative male activity for his comfort zone, so perhaps it was a round about blessing…

Yes a good sign. After months of dreariness having a few sunny days has really helped my husband emerge from the winter doldrums. He had so much extra energy the other day it was like he’d shed 10 years! 🙂

My oldest nephew did this. He now has dual citizenship because his grandparents were Italian and still Italian citizens when my sister-in-law was born. My nephew (only 10 months younger than I am) now lives in Italy in his retirement, and enjoys all of the benefits of Italian citizenship, while collecting a Social Security pension from the USA. He lives in the town of Acquaviva in Puglia, the home of his ancestors.
If you have Italian ancestry, you may be able to do this too!

There was a time when I could have tried for a dual citizenship in the US and Poland, as could have my father. The thought that my grandfather came here and if he or my father just stayed American-Americans why should I break the chain? Nothing for me there anyway. Other family members who’ve tracked down my great-grandfather’s second family have said that their primary interest in their American cousins is getting money. I got family here that fills that role, no need to go all the way there.
As for the Brit side, they don’t hold much to dual citizenship though I could wait for a Tory government and see if I could get impressed off of a cruise ship. By then, though, the process of Britb citizenship might also require one reciting the shahadah.

My nephew, I suspect, was attracted by the benefits as much as the atmosphere. Both his parents are dead, he doesn’t talk to his sister, so the only one he cares about in the US is his son, who is gay and living in San Fran. I’m sure they visit. Just by following his Instagram, I know he has spent significant time in the hospital over there – first for weight loss (he is about 6’7″ and was quite heavy), and then for knee replacement. I suspect the medical was pretty much free.

Yeah, I see the area my grandfather was born in thru posts, it’s way down in deep southern Poland, at the foot of the Carpathians. It’s rural, rustic and makes me think my love of same is genetic. His village also had a Katrina-like flood shortly after we did.
But my family’s born and buried here and I will be too.

RATS! The things we miss being out of the social loop in New Orleans!!!!! It’s Drag Weekend. There are drag lunches in various Quarter restaurants and events at bars. I could have gone with something from my Richard Simmons Collection and Czarina from her Rosie O’Donnell Mature Woman’s line.Then again with the Bayou Boogaloo and New Orleans Mac & Cheese Fest also going on it’s hard to dress for everything.
