Have fun! It so nice that they are close enough to you that you can see them somewhat frequently.
My sister and her four children lived 1800 miles away; so my parents went to visit every summer, staying in their travel trailer for 2-3 months once Dad retired in 1967.
I was thinking the other day how modern humans in First World countries (wow, is that term in use any more) are so fortunate despite all the ugly happenings. Centuries ago moving 1800 miles away from family meant that you likely never saw or heard from them again.

Thank you, it was a very fun visit. Iām very thankful we live relatively close. I took care of my grandson everyday until he was 1.5, because my DD worked full-time. Iām so bonded with him, just like I was with my girls. My step-son and his family just moved several states away, which will be different for us, but they will come back as much as they can. DH was really sad, but it was a work decision.

Luna the cat consumed the small leaves on several of my tomato plants – very little, really. I read on the internet that the leaves are poisonous (which I knew) but that she would have to consume about a quarter pound in order to reach toxic levels for her weight. She isn’t showing any signs of illness, and just ate her breakfast.

A lot of ‘poisonous plant’ pet stuff on the net/in magazines is filler. There is a potential for the leaves to be poisonous but as you found, the amount needed is huge. Same goes for onions, garlic, grapes and raisins but I haven’t ever had a dog or cat eat that much of either. We use a lot of onion and garlic but we eat most ofthst ourselves and the petsc are lucky to get any of it.
Note to self: If we take the dogs/cats to Outback Steakhouse, no Bloomin’ Onion.

At the moment I’m more concerned about the seedlings. She damaged all of the Kibits Ukrainian, and most of the Amish Paste tomato plants. Some may recover, but I’m sure some will not.

Can’t help but wonder if McCain, being in Gitmo and surrounded by POWs, got flashbacks to all of the POWs he and his fellow Senators abandoned with the Select Committee on POW and MIA Affairs hearings?

The Posobiac experience with McCain certainly indicates McCain had a psychosis of some kind, perhaps related to his being a POW or perhaps a personality disorder already in place by the time of his sojourn at the Hanoi Hilton.
You remember in his 2008 Repub convention acceptance speech where he mentioned “they broke me”? Rumors have always been that he cooperated before they “broke” him.
I’ve read a lot and viewed many videos but have no way of knowing if the accusations against McCain during wartime are true. At the time of his capture, he apparently was already a very spoiled young man, used to getting his way and having that way made smooth and cleaned up by his family connections. I know Bud Day believed McCain was tortured, having seen him when he came back from interrogations. Day spoke highly of him, though I don’t know how much contact they had with each other once they were back in the States. I also don’t know of any Hanoi Hilton POW who has talked disparagingly about McCain. Do you?
BTW, I have never agreed with the reported statement by the President some years ago that he didn’t believe heroes get captured. That’s just plain ridiculous as U.S. history shows. I understand what he was trying to say, but he did so very poorly.
At any rate, I do hope President Trump doesn’t bring up McCain again. It’s not a winning issue. If he’s asked about his comments at Lima, perhaps he should say he’s commented all he’s going to about it.

Whenever I see President Trump do something like he did with bringing McCain up out of the blue, I think to myself, “What is happening and why is President Trump throwing out red meat for the savages”.
Soon the press will be on to the next pearl clutching moment, meanwhile President Trump and the patriots are working to burn down as many of the criminal traitorous elitist scum as possible within the confines of our time.

Trump won’t have to bring up McCain, the McCains will bring it up as they fight for the Rat nominee in revenge. That statement was a major screwup for Trump that will boomerang. A lot of people disliked McCain but knew it was best to keep silent if they didn’t want to get bit in the butt.
I don’t hold it against McCain if he was broken, the NVA/VC treated our POWs like crap, read Nick Rowe’s book on how he was treated as a POW. My complaint with McCain is his wholesale dismissal of POWs after he became a Senator – or maybe a hi-profile ex-POW added credibility to the powers selling out the POWs.

Isn’t that how so many of them go? They live in such fear of someone revealing their true evil to the world that they are always on edge not only ready to attack but they are perpetually primed for attack and holding that darkness in always causes them to explode behind closed doors.
For all the worldly trappings of the elites like McCain, Hillary, Farrakhan, Pelosi, DeNiro, and on and on, their inner lives are pure sh*t.

That too, but I do not for a second think any of them are internally happy or joyful or at peace. They may have spiteful pleasure for what they have done to good people and for what they have gotten away with but they are bitter angry fearful people underneath the mansions, the baubles and the millions.
I believe every one of them lives with the fear of suffering the fate of Saddam Hussein or Mussolini, no rest for the wicked as they lay down their heads on their thousand dollar pillows.
The beauty of life is that we can not escape ourselves or the Hound of heaven.

McCain was only the second Republican I ever voted for in the Presidential race…the first being G. W. Bush. I voted straight Dem in prior elections.
When I voted for Bush it was shortly after I came in from the leftist cold and thought Bush was a real conservative. In comparison he seemed that way to me. But still I’m glad that neither Gore nor Kerry won the Presidency; so I actually don’t feel bad about my vote for W.

This week, a new study appearing in Lancet Psychiatry is raising concerns over the intoxicating plantās association with psychosis disorder. Researchers at Kingās College London found that people who use cannabis daily, or who use highly potent pot, may be three times more likely to suffer their first psychotic episode.
āWe are talking about people who meet diagnostic criteria [and] come to the attention of mental health services to receive treatment for psychosis,ā lead study author Dr. Marta Di Forti tells CNN. āSo they have to have symptoms of psychosis across the spectrum ā so hallucination, delusion ā that have lasted at least for a week.ā
THC is the psychoactive compound in cannabis ā the stuff that gets you āhigh.ā This research supports previous studies that showed cannabis strains of 10 percent THC content or higher could be damaging to mental health.
Di Fortiās team investigated data from the UK, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Brazil, where itās also legal. In their analysis, 30 percent of the 901 first-time psychosis patients they observed reported daily cannabis use, compared to 7 percent of the 1,237 in the control group. In terms of using high-THC strains, the comparison was 37 to 19 percent, respectively.
Those who used ultra-potent cannabis daily were five times more likely to have a first psychotic episode ā leading researchers to believe that THC may be the last straw for otherwise mentally healthy individuals.

Sorry Im not around as much. We are going through some things. Kiddo was in the ER on monday for croup which turned into a really bad cold.
We went to take his homework to school thi s am, and when we got back our last beagle was in the backyard, dead. She had been to the vet who didnt see anything wrong on xrays, but something happened. Luckily, kiddo didnt find her.
We are going to be petless for a while. After 6 beagles and a cat dying over the past almost 5 years Im tapped out.
I wish you all well. I will check in as I can but I am finding a lot of things are getting more difficult, just right now. Take care of yourselves, and give your fur babies some love.

He was right next to me on the floor. I made the mistake of leaving my shoes on the floor next to the sofa. I do my best to keep an eye on him, but it is too easy to slip up. The only thing I could do is keep him crated, and that would be cruel.

I understand your worries Stella and I hope Tucker doesn’t ever get to that point.
We had several dogs growing up.
One would chew and swallow anything. She would swallow my dad’s socks whole and then throw them up the next day. She never got anything stuck that required surgery or endangered her. She was simply a prolific chewer.
The second dog would grab gallon glass jugs and mason jars from the basement. He would run outside and throw them in the air, always on the concrete never on the grass, and the glass would crash and break on the ground, he never got cut which was a minor miracle.

Not long ago Tucker swallowed about 2/3 of my silicone keyboard cover. It is the third one he destroyed, and I won’t buy another. He had diarrhea for several days, and then threw up the keyboard cover, which was rolled up into a sausage shape. At least the leather from the shoe is digestible. I worry about the rawhide lacing though. I noticed he pulled the lacing out of the other shoe and ate that too.

Yep. The glass breaker was a stray that we took in for a month or so, I names him Oscar after Oscar the grouch because even after he was cleaned up his hair still looked liked matted wet fur.

Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
