The sun is out, melting the snow. With the promised sunshine until next Saturday, maybe Monday I’ll put 100 gallons on the ice/snowbanks at my door and wash it all away. LOL!

Let me know how that works for you, Lucille! I’ve got 4′ piles of snow surrounding my house. Two days of rain (at 35 degrees) made no dent in it. I despair of seeing green grass before June.

Folks around my apartment complex think I’m an eccentric (not saying I’m not…lol!) to do all that work. “It’ll melt,” is a common refrain. Yeah, but I want it GONE NOW!!! Hahahahaha!

If someone were to ask me what I see in a Rothko painting…depending upon the colors or symmetry, it could be serenity, conflict, joy, anger…a dozen things…because my observation is based upon feeling. It likely would be something completely different for another viewer or perhaps dismissed altogether.

Ms.WeeWeed I’m going to tell the Liver Transplant story.
21 Jan received phone call, come too the hospital
22-23 sedated and tested,
23 Evening operation received new Liver
24 Woke up for a few hours, then back too sleep
26 was my first day awake.
27 to 5 Feb touch and go, develop infection back. In ICU, prep for surgery.
6Feb infection was ID and controlled
7 Feb thru 4 Mar hospital rehabilitation and staples out.
I have a mini step down unit in my bedroom at home…..
I want too thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers…….

The operation was about 8 hours. My understanding there was two teams within the team.

THAT toast is acceptable. I’ll just add another pat or two of butter and we’ll be good to go. The eggs, however, need nothing else–they’re perfect. They, and the bacon, make up for the lack of doughnuts. Almost.

One of my most fun memories is the secret passages in an old mansion that we used to spend some weekends at. Adding to the lure of adventure, was that the mansion was once owned by the Capone Family so we kids were always certain that there were bodies, guns, drugs or treasure to be found somewhere in the labyrinth of passages.

One more IDITAROD UPDATE. Jessica Klejka finished the race last night just after 10 pm. A large Bethel contingent, including Pete Kaiser, was at the finish line to greet her. She and her dogs looked great! She said the trail was really tough and she is proud of her leaders. Good write up with photo here:

There are nine teams still competing. At the very back of the pack are three mushers still heading toward White Mountain, including the last musher from Bethel, rookie Victoria Hardwick. This article describes how a rookie feels when atop the last mountain and Nome is in sight:

The title given to the last place finisher is Red Lantern. And they are gifted an actual red hurricane lantern on completing the race. That position is currently held by veteran musher Kristin Bacon. She still has about 200 miles to cover and will hopefully draw the 2019 Iditarod to a close when she comes off the trail Sunday evening or Monday morning. Hang in there, Kristin!
