Notice MSM is so quick to call this terrorism and evil.

These are the same people who still call the Muslim terrorist attack in Fort Brag “work place violence,” the same people who wring their hands and wonder what more we can do to make people like Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik more comfortable in America so they don’t become “perpetrators” (note not terrorists), the same people who ponder whether or not Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had been loved by America more if their lives may have taken a different route.

These are the same people who gushed over Tamerlan Tsarnaev and made him the poster boy for misunderstood Muslim youth by putting him on the cover of Rolling Stone.

These are the same people who are now saying 4Chan is a haven for hate speech but the Koran is a misunderstood (by Whitey the Westerner) book of peace.

This is the war Muslims want, these are the martyrs Muslims want.

It’s interesting seeing the world one-eyed! Depth perception is cockeyed…LOL! I don’t have a full patch on the left eye, just a covering over the glasses to cut off the “death-rays” from the computer. When I’m doing other things, I can take the Patch-glasses off and put on another pair. Much improvement in two days but time in front of the screen has to be limited. Almost seventy-seven year old orbs (blue with yellow around the iris for a sort of greenish look) need a little pampering.

    • Morning Lucille! Happy Friday. 😊 Thank you for the sweet greeting!
I’m glad your eyes are improving. Rest them as much as you can. My husband just went in to the eye doctor and they recommended special glasses that reduce harsh light from the computer, as his job puts him working at one all day. I wonder if that would help you? There used to be screens that you could get that attached to the computer to reduce eye strain, but I don’t know if they still make them. Sure wish there was an easy fix, that would help.

Good day to you, sand! It’s a beautiful day outside with the sun shining in and out of clouds. We should have sunny type days for about a week and then a number of rainy ones.

Yes, after the first bout I had with eye strain, the doctor recommended artificial tears and a pair of glasses which cut down on the harshness of screen viewing. I did get a pair of special glasses, but just this simple fix of covering the glasses lens on my regular glasses has done a better job of clearing up the eye strain. I’ll look around the Internet to see if anyone has a “snap-on” filter for the screen. Should have done that before, of course; but my middle name seems to be “procrastination” nowadays.

Thanks so much for your prayers, lovely. You are still in mine.

In one of my novels, my main male character, Dave, says to his counterpart, Catherine, “You think it’s true that the eyes are windows to the soul?” “So they say,” she said with a smile. “Well, then, you have a beautiful soul.”

Morning all (barely, for me)! Not much left to report on an IDITAROD UPDATE. 26 teams have completed the race and 15 more are still competing. Jessica Klejka continues to hold 32nd position and is currently resting at the 8-hour mandatory stop at White Mountain. She should finish the race about 6 pm tonight. A few photos in this write-up:
    https://iditarod.com/musher/friday-morning-update-from-white-mountain/

Yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from my dear friend and mushing mentor, Bill (who taught me everything I know about dog mushing) from Bethel. He went to Nome for the finish of the race! He is life-long best friends with Pete Kaiser’s dad, Ron, and has known Pete since he was born. He said the finish was the most incredible thing he’s ever seen. Half of Bethel went to Nome to celebrate Pete’s Iditarod win, and Bill was incredibly glad and honored that he got to be there to see it. He has never gone to Nome for the finish before.

At 3:39 am when Pete pulled in, the crowd was packed 4 people deep and all chanting “Pete! Pete! Pete!” Native Yup’ik dancers were there, dancing and drumming for him. Bill said there was so much emotion it was unbelievable. Pete was overwhelmed by all the love and pride directed at him, and at one point had to turn away from the crowd and the cameras to get control of himself. Pete’s win, as the first Iditarod champion from southwest Alaska, has pulled the town together like nothing in recent history. Bethel is by nature a fractuous place. Pete’s win is a huge source of pride for community.

I noticed in the Iditarod Insider coverage and the Anchorage Daily News coverage, media is making a big deal out of Pete’s Native heritage: “first Yup’ik champion of Iditarod!” they are screaming. Bill said that Pete is not comfortable with this; he has a little bit of Yup’ik blood, but does not identify as Native. His dad is white and his mom is 1/4 Yup’ik, making Pete 1/8th Yup’ik. He has never claimed any rights of Native blood.

Bill went bar hopping with Ron and Pete on Wednesday (there are a LOT of bars in Nome!) and Bill said Pete is being treated like a rock star all over town. Which is kind of funny, given how quiet, humble and unassuming Pete is. So NOT a rock star, and not really comfortable with it. Lots of big corporate donors are now feteing him and vying for sponsorships. With this win, Pete has definitely moved into the Big Time in professional mushing. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!

Watch as This Young Pro-Lifer Destroys the Argument for Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth

I was just reading Libertarians, including one of their candidates for governor arguing in favor of abortion by claiming God commanded the murder of babies and created a drug to cause abortions. His drug of choice was bitter waters.
Then they use the Episcopal view on abortion as Gospel:
Biblical views on abortion: an Episcopal perspective.
Much scholarly work has been done to determine the biblical and traditional attitudes about abortion. One must ask what was said and why, what was its context, and inquire about what was not said as well. This discussion identifies some of the conclusions reached in scholarly literature. The word “abortion” is not mentioned in the Bible, but much in the Bible speaks to the issue. The most obvious passage is from Exodus 21:22-25. This part of the Covenant Code legislates the case of a pregnant woman who becomes involved in a brawl between 2 men and has a miscarriage. A distinction is then made between the penalty that is to be exacted for the loss of the fetus and injury to the woman. For the fetus, a fine is paid as determined by the husband and the judges. However, if the woman is injured or dies, “lex talionis” is applied — life for life, eye for eye, etc. The story has somewhat limited application to the current abortion debate since it deals with accidental and not willful pregnancy termination. Even so, the distinction made between the woman and the fetus is important. The woman is valued as a person under the convenant; the fetus is valued as property. Its status is certainly inferior to that of the woman. This passage gives no support to the parity argument that gives equal religious and moral worth to woman and fetus. The bibilical portrait of person does not begin with an explanation of conception but with a portrayal of the creation of Adam and Eve. Thus, the biblical portrait of a person is that of a complex, many-sided creature with the god-like ability and responsibility to make choices. The fetus does not meet those criteria. When considering the issue of abortion, the one who unquestionably fits this portrait of personhood is the pregnant woman. The abortion question focuses on the personhood of the woman, who in turn considers the potential personhood of the fetus in terms of the multiple dimensions of her own history and the future. In biblical perspective, this is a god-like decision. Any study of the tradition of the church over the centuries must deal with at least 2 related questions: the morality of the act of induced abortion; and the definition of the person. These are related, because if one does not believe that the fetus is a person until a certain age the act must be defined differently than if one considers the fetus a person from conception.

How people can twist the Bible to support evil is beyond me.

By the way, the word “abortion” refers both to what we call “miscarriage” and an abortion carried out by the hands of man. A miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion.

      • michellc says:

In this case they are not talking about miscarriages.

These Libertarians believe that abortion should remain legal and they do not believe abortion is the murder of babies. They also do not believe a baby is a person until after they are born, so they have no constitutional right to life.
Then they started trying to use the Bible to convince Christians they were wrong and even God performed abortions by forcing women to drink bitter waters, no different than the morning after pill and God does not consider a baby a person until it draws a breath.

They even went on to tell Christians in the discussion that they were always lied to from the pulpit and were too stupid to read the Bible and comprehend it.

They even went on to admit they believe abortion should be legal up until birth and the government should make no laws regarding abortion.

By the way do you know the official view by the Episcopal Church? I’ve been looking and getting conflicting information.

I got curious after him posting this. He had first posted a link, but it did not work, so he then posted what it said. Then someone told him they wouldn’t be convinced by Episcopal theology. He went on to tell a story about attending an Episcopal Church because a friend invited him and being shocked when the woman pastor called for taking up a donation for a Women’s clinic that he knew was affiliated with Planned Parenthood and worse was in reality an abortion clinic. Then they invited two women up to announce their upcoming wedding.

I have found some Episcopal sites who say they support abortion in cases of rape, incest, physical and mental health of a mother and deformities. Others that just say the support the right of the mother to choose, allowing women to exercise their own conscience in the matter of abortions.

I knew they were liberal and allowed gay marriages.

And so we were the first historically white denomination to ordain an African-American, the first to ordain a woman, the first to ordain an openly gay man, and the first Christian church to affirm the right of same-gender couples to marry. We were in the forefront of the anti-slavery movement and the Civil Rights movement. Our response to the demands of our faith is woven into the history of our country.

I think that’s right! When I attended the church regularly back in 1960, it was still very much like a Lutheran church, and our pastor spoke German, as did many of our parishioners. Big difference now. For one thing, I think their congregation is about 50 people. Ours was huge!

I liked our little country Church until the preacher retired, then the next preacher was an adulterer and so was his wife. They were fired and then they brought in another preacher who will lie right to your face about little things even when he knows you know he’s lying.
