Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

10 beautiful things.
1) A newspaper relies on media defense lawyers to belittle Nick Sandmann’s legal claims. I have never had a media defense lawyer publicly admit that my clients’ claims were valid. But I have had a bunch of them quietly pay my clients millions of dollars.__ Lin Wood
I think that Wood should speak in more legal terms like “Bazinga!”
2) A lesson for Elizabeth Warren on ethics from Randolph Mantooth.
The dark-haired paramedic of Emergency! fame doesn’t talk too much about his Native American heritage. Mantooth’s father was a full-blooded Seminole, and his mother was of German extraction. Randy once told an interviewer, “my mother was German, but no one seems to think that that’s remarkable. They always jump on the “˜Indian thing.'” Likewise, Mantooth routinely refuses to play Native American roles, saying he doesn’t want to take the part away from a full-blooded actor who deserves it more. What he is proud of, however, is the impact Emergency! had on viewers, and its lasting popularity. He is closely involved with “Project 51,” a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness of emergency medical services in North America. Reported by Kara Kovalchik for Mental Floss in 2008
3 ) Good that some Dems have condemned the disgraceful anti-Semitic remarks of Rep. Omar—but their words are empty unless Dem leaders remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee. No one with her anti-Semitic views should be allowed to represent US foreign policy on that committee.__Steve Scalise
And more on the anti-semite ;
To save time Rep Omar could have used this apology to also apologize in advance for her next antisemitic remark__Sean Spicier
Room for one more?
Laura Loomer got banned from Twitter for saying that Ilhan Omar was anti-Semitic, and now the Congresswoman just apologized for her statements that were condemned by Nancy Pelosi as such, so when is Twitter going to restore Loomer’s account and apologize to her, @Jack? __Mark Dice
4 ) The Symmetry of creation.
The left photo is a tree the right photo is capillaries.
5) A tiny Vietnamese Moss Tree Frog.
6) From an epitaph on a Victorian headstone (circa 1853)
“She was but as a smile,
Which glistens in a tear,
Seen but a little while,
But, oh! How loved, how dear!”
7) I have never watched a single one of these without crying.
8) “Those hats are beautiful by the way”___President Trump
With 7 words President Trump causes the MSM, Hollywood, democrats, Antifa, BLM, (Whatever happened to Black Lives Matter), Nathan Phillips, those Black Racists who were attacking the Covington boys, and all the other hateful miscreants heads to simultaneously explode.
9 ) On February 8, 2019 US District Judge Dabney Friedrich ruled that she is unconvinced of an immediate need to block a citizenship question from the 2020 census over privacy concerns.
A good step towards curbing California’s perpetual theft of electoral votes.

Does this Rupar person run an “Onion” type of site? Reading his Twitter feed is like reading poorly written jokes. More likely he is a good little fascist trying to act like he knows more than anyone else. He intimates President Trump was lying about the crowd in El Paso; claims the President doesn’t know anything about tariffs, and lots of other garbage. So tiresome.

Big, bold, beautiful, and very Trump: The president takes El Paso
By Monica Showalter – February 12, 2019
President Trump visited the Texas border city of El Paso to make a case for his border wall, and press pooh-poohing to the contrary, it was big. Real big. The press fell over itself to downplay claims about the actual crowd size, but 16,000 people, if the numbers were as low as that, is still an amazing number, respect-inducing numbers, particularly in a blue city like El Paso.

Trump calls on anti-Semitic Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar to resign, calls her non-apology “lame”
February 12, 2019 2:02 PM By Robert Spencer
If the Left and the establishment media had any standards of decency whatsoever at this point, Omar would be long ago. The Republican establishment likewise has been unaccountably silent. Only President Trump has had the courage to speak up and tell the truth about this.

Bad news: We are having an ice storm.

Bad news: Tucker had diarrhea yesterday and had two accidents in the house.
Good news: He seems to be all better today, and the accidents cleaned up just fine.

Today the Detroit area is experiencing the funeral of John Dingell, the middle man in the Dingell dynasty in Congress. His father was elected in 1933. John took over in 1955. Now his much younger wife, Debbie, has taken his seat. I wonder which one of his children will be running, eventually, to replace Debbie?
The historian for the House of Representatives noted that Dingell served with 2,427 members of the House, 11 presidents and 11 speakers of the House.
Joe Biden is in town for the funeral. So is Nancy Pelosi. Lucky us.
After the funeral here, his body will be transferred to D.C., where Bill Clinton, Steney Hoyer and John Boehner will speak at a memorial service on Thursday.

Tucker also will chew and swallow my hair ties, barrettes, eyeglasses (I’ve already lost one pair, and another pair is scratched). He has also chewed two of my silicone keyboard covers; now I close the laptop whenever I am out of the room. Also has chewed on remotes, although that phase seems to be over. He loves to eat the ends off the small wires on phone chargers, speaker wire plugs etc.
I have gotten very good (but not perfect) at keeping most of these things out of the way now.

If Only Trump Had Known What He Did Not Yet Know About D.C.

… This is what President Trump has been dealing with from the day he walked into the Presidency. The Mediacracy’s mediocrities set out to destroy him from Day One. The lies began immediately: He is an anti-Semite. Lie. He took a bust of Rev. Dr. King out of the oval office. Lie. He is a White supremacist. Lie.
No sooner was he at work than the hordes descended on his spokesman, Sean Spicer. Later they would throw the next spokesperson and her family out of a restaurant. And that evil Mueller Inquisition. One of these days, between tomorrow and the end of Mr. Trump’s second term in six years, we will see that Mr. Trump did not collude with Putin, but that Inquisition has taken so much air out of his every day. The President does not lay it out for us, but he surely needs to meet with his lawyers, deal with strategy over whether to give a deposition (Don’t You Dare, Mr. President!), review a gazillion documents. He has to watch friends and supporters get harassed with midnight SWAT raids, thrown into prison over nonsense because every single human being can accidentally have an innocent memory lapse or misstate a fact when subjected to hours of trick questions.
…
His great mistake was that — quite the opposite of his public persona — he was too nice a guy, too willing to make others happy and play to others’ expectations. So he put faith in Paul Ryan to be an improvement over John Boehner, and that was a mistake. He brought in Reince Priebus, a wonderful guy, and Sean Spicer — but those jobs were above their pay grades; he should have begun with Gen. John Kelly. Omarosa should have been made his Secretary of TV Shows and stationed in Bosnia. Mike Pompeo should have been his Secretary of State from Day One. John Bolton belonged on the inside from the outset. Nikki Haley proved a shockingly great United Nations ambassador, but he blew it with the A-G. It should have been Chris Christie, or the ever-tongue-slipping Rudy Giuliani, Joe diGenova, or even the best we have had in years, Michael Mukasey. That one last botch — picking the wrong Attorney-General — will be recorded in history as his worst mistake. It doomed so much of his first term. Look how great Eric Holder was for Obama, followed equally by Loretta Lynch. Each knew how an A-G with guts and fortitude, bold and brash, fast and furious, on the tarmac and off the tarmac, can make or break so much of a President’s agenda. Indeed, that is why John Kennedy decided that “Gee, nepotism may look bad, but I want my brother in that role.”
Donald Trump came in with no prior legislative experience. If he had known then what he finally has learned now, he would have shoved that border wall down Ryan’s throat, and he would have gotten it. If he had had the right A-G, he would have crafted his entry ban a bit more cleverly, and each of his subsequent Ninth Circuit debacles would have been more elegantly situated for Supreme Court review. Indeed, if he had me— and I am utterly not qualified, nor would I want it because I like being a rabbi and law professor, and I hate participatory politics — but if he had had even me, I would have advised him that, every single time he issues a new Executive Order, he should counter-intuitively have the pro-Trump Texas or Louisiana Attorney General race immediately to the Fifth Circuit to attack him and his Executive Order… so that the first court that rules with a national injunction would be the pro-Trump, pro-conservative Fifth Circuit. Race to the Fifth before the Left gets to the Ninth. That would have changed the whole dynamic on everything from the Keystone XL Pipeline to the various issues on the southern border…

All of this makes sense. Christy says the reason he was fired was Jared. I believe that is probably true. And, that was a huge mistake on Jared’s part, and he may pay dearly himself for it. I think Jared has been a great asset, but I also think that he let personal animosity cloud his judgement in this instance. I can see where Christy can and probably does anger a lot of people around him. He would me, I can assure you because of his rudeness. But, on the other hand, he would NEVER have been intimidated by anyone in the DOJ, and NEVER would have recused. And, things would have been different for President Trump……………although different, but not necessarily better. 😦

I generally like my seafood without any outside flavor (some garlic butter excepted) though the flavorless white fish being pushed can’t help but demand outside flavor.
We’re particularly fond of fresh oysters ans we’ve been known to chow down 3 dozen each. Bacon wrapped oysters are an appetizer here though the combination of the rich oyster and the strong bacon are enough to gag me.
One exception to the cooked oyster is charbroiled oysters at Drago’s in Metairie. They’re sooooo good that you can easily put your credit card into cardiac arrest eating them.

I agree with you that good seafood can stand on its own, and is better that way. The scallop/bacon appetizer (along with oysters wrapped bacon, called angels on horseback, and prunes wrapped in bacon, called devils on horseback) is a really old one, though. I imagine it predates fake scallops.

Wouldn’t do for company though, too slow to cook enough. Although maybe the savory ones would keep longer. The sweet ones really aren’t too good when they get cold.
What I’m pondering on is whether I’d need to pre-cook the corn a little. Recipe doesn’t say to, but I don’t see raw corn getting done in a griddle cake, and certainly not if cooked in balls. What do you think?

It’s normal business here for thug defendants to whack witnesses. If the city puts someone in witness protection they just go after the witness’s family and then, when the witness is out of protection, whack him/her too. City generally keeps the witness in ‘protection’ for the duration of the trial and sometimes a bit after but you’re likely to find more money in your couch cushions than the city spends on witness safety.
Neat thing is as a victim of a violent crime too scared to testify you’re thrown into prison with the same thug scum – and maybe even the thug – who assaulted you. Oh yeah, rape victims are jailed to for failure to testify.
