We have two opposite artistic styles for today’s aviation art. The 1st is Mucha art nouveau that looks like she is almost growing wings

and the second is an art deco illustration I get a kick out of because she is up flying with her long dress and sensible shoes 😉

Have a great day everyone! – and maybe a “hair of the dog that bit you” after yesterday’s party 😉

The battle against police officers drivers on. A number of states have passed gun control laws that have not been worded in such a way as to impact officer off duty and those who wrote these laws should have known.
These laws limit officers’ abilities to purchase ammunition for personal use or practice, appear to limit magazine capacities for off duty officers to civilian levels, prevent still-serving and retired LEA from carrying concealed in certain states they weren’t employed in – despite a Federal law allowing them to do so, require officers to securely lock away their weapons with ‘hi-capacity’ magazines while at home, all designed to hamstring LEA.
Back in the 70s dark ages some PDs even had uniformed officers transition to suit/sports jackets as a ‘less military’ look and leave their duty weapons at the station when their shifts were over. It didn’t take long before the policies were shown as a sheer disaster but the latter day libs seem to be ready to try it again, The goal seems to be a British type of system with a totally disarmed public ‘protected’ by a mostly disarmed police – officers needing armed assistance will call for a sector car with armed and specially trained officers inside.
Ah well, I presume they’ve done the calculations and determined just how many dead citizens are acceptable casualties until the prog’s idea of nirvana’s achieved.

Just because they ask, doesn’t mean you have to answer (either truthfully or at all). You wouldn’t believe all the things that providers are now required to ask every patient at every visit. And to counsel/admonish at every point. Takes up 15 minutes out of every 20 minute appt. Accrediting organizations rule hospitals and clinics, and can require providers to ask endless questions, regardless of what the patient came in for. Need that fish hook dug out of your ear? Oh wait, let me first get your lifetime sexual history, your history of sexual abuse, your lifetime tobacco-use history, your lifetime alcohol use history, your recreational drug use details, how many live in your home, how many and what kind of pets you have, a complete list of what weapons you own, whether you keep them locked up, whether you have trigger locks on each weapon, where you keep ammo, whether you have throw rugs on your floors that can be a trip hazard… The list is nearly endless. Please don’t blame your doctor, who most likely dislikes it as much as you do. If I were starting a career today instead of 30 years ago, I would never go into medicine.

                • I understand Tundra. It’s the government. Anyone who wants to go into obstetrics is now required to perform abortions as part of their residency. We have a local pediatrician that has decided her six year old son is a girl and dresses the child in female clothing and the school goes along with it. It’s all part of the same problem. I only go to the minute clinic if I’m sick these days and don’t see a regular doctor, and the government interference is part of the reason. I hope things get better, but it’s going to take time to reverse the trend.

No one has asked in Idaho but they did in Washington state. When the question about gun ownership was on the form I had to fill out, I simply wrote in, “Why do you want to know?” and no one asked me anything further.

I wonder what would happen if a person wrote in, “Yeah, I have an AK-47 and a Howitzer used for target practice.” Thrown in the slammer for lying on a medical form?

We hear about the tunnels but what the writers avoid talking about is…who engineers these tunnels? One article a while back touched on it by saying that in order to deal with these tunnels the IDF sent Combat Engineers to an undisclosed country in Europe to learn how to deal with these tunnels.

The media wants you to think that the courageous Islamists are digging these tunnels with tea spoons, The Great Escape style, as they battle to regain territory lost to Israeli interlopers and return it to the squalid gaggle of hovels it was under pre-civilized occupation. These people who seem unable to move out of a Middle Ages existence even with massive infusions of outside cash are building huge, sophisticated underground structures when they can’t house their own? Hmmmmmm…..

So, if we look at the IDF going to Europe for help in dealing with these tunnels we have to ask who has the underground construction experience there to help, and one country pops right up: Germany. Germany, due to Allied bombing, developed a huge and extremely effective tunnel and underground construction technology during WWII, hundreds of miles of tunnels housing huge manufacturing and military housing have been found all over Europe, much of it – especially in the old Bloc – unexplored. Germany was also building the underground bunkers Saddam Hussein and other Mideast despots were using.

Germany was caught supplying Mideast tyrants with forbidden WMD technology from the 60s on and escaped Nazi war criminals were being employed by Mideast governments in anti-Israeli operations – all known to the German government. OK, the US knew to but as we relied so heavily on Germany for our NATO military ops we turned a blind eye.

This brings us back to the border wall and issues of German engineers involved in building some of those tunnels as well as the famous one that broke Guzman out of prison in Mexico. That’s another issue though.

Their own. People believe that Germany was de-Nazified after WWII but much of that was Western whitewashing as they needed the people of the Allied nations to think Germany was neutered so that lack of fear and goodwill could allow Germany to be part of the defense against Russia.
Interesting to me that Germany, who’d fought Russia twice within 20 years, inflicting massive carnage on Russia both times, was being punished for starting those wars by being made a member of NATO whose job was to fight Russia.
Anyway, the antisemitism in Germany, or much of Europe for that matter, exposed and used by Hitler, still exists. France has a post-WWII history of at times supporting the Islamists against Israel too, and France gladly gave up its Jews to Germany. So the existence of closeted anti-Semitic folks in German industry and government is a long established fact – they just ain’t as obvious as they were in 1945.

    Another day of good news.

The government is still shut down. Longest shutdown in our history day 22

    2) Day 901 of the Mueller investigation with zero evidence of collusion between President Trump and Russia.

    3) President Trump announces if the democrats continue to defy common sense that he will declare a national emergency. I’m not of the mind that this will set precedent for declarations of national emergency as there is ample evidence that our open border doe pose a clear, dangerous and imminent danger to America and her citizens.

    4) NY times had an op-ed about how Israel’s fence works.

    5) NY Times has bomb shell headline ”FBI Launched Investigation into Whether Trump was Secretly Working for Russia” (the investigation was opened because of the firing of Comey) but on page 8 the conclusion is that “no evidence was found that President Trump had any nefarious ties.”

    6) Democrats are dissolving the terrorism subcommittee to dedicate that time and money to investigate President Trump. I can hear the #walkaway and #blexit movement swelling.

    7) Mecca’s Grand Mosque is plagued by a swarm of locusts.

    8) French and German citizens continue to find their voice to fight their oppressive government and the Sharia practicers who have invaded their country.

    9) Oprah, the king maker, is backing this man for President of the United States.

    10) Jaymee Closs is back with her family.

What I’m not seeing is the media, including Fox, concentrating on the hundreds of miles of border where there’s no people living even close to it. There are miles and miles where you have river so shallow you can walk across without getting your ankles wet, where you could march a college brass band through without anyone seeing or hearing it and where BP/ICE can only irregularly patrol. There’s where we need walls.

Oh yeah, and while we’re at it, how about catching and prosecuting those US groups that leave food and water out for illegals crossing as accessories? Granted it sounds cruel to stop them from doing it but the stories south of the border of them providing oases help propel illegals by salving their fears of a gruesome death.

We used to have live bodies in holes in the desert spending days at a time sneaky-peeking on the lookout for drug mules and illegals but one BS incident got the progs in the Government and Congress especially to do what the drug cartels wanted them to do – kill the program.
Then there were the citizen volunteer groups who used to patrol for illegals and call BP/ICE when they spotted them. Same prog rats started calling the untrained, bloodthirsty vigilantes poised to violently violate the illegals’ rights and hinting at heavy Federal civil rights legal actions if they didn’t cease operations.

When you think how many things we’ve had to learn in our lifetimes…we’d get used to something and then have to learn new items again and again. Except for the change to push button office consoles, not much changed in the look of phones. There was also the change to a messaging system in what—1970? But that’s remained fairly constant, too, with a few tweaks.

On my first office job in 1962 I had the very latest IBM typewriter and used carbon paper for the ccs . There were no xeroxes or fax machines, though there was some machine I’ve forgotten the name of that we could use to send orders to the corporate office. And there was a Gestetner mimeograph machine for multiple copies using a stencil master upon which we typed copy WITH NO MISTAKES.

When we did get xeroxes, we couldn’t use them ourselves but had to give our copy to an employee hired specifically to handle the machine.

On and on through the latest computer. Change was the only constant.

My first job as a secretary was in a patent law office in Chicago (1966?) I had to take dictation of patent applications and type them up with five carbon copies! We tried not to ever make a mistake, because each of the copies had to be fixed. Each was a different color, and there was a matching correction strip for each color. Every application had to be proof read by two people, and when the actual application came back from D.C., we had to read the final against the application, word by word.

I also learned to use a plug and key switchboard when I worked there so that I could act as the relief operator. I was trained at the Illinois Bell offices.

We also had a Xerox machine, but we were allowed to use it ourselves, and it was only used occasionally – never to copy our original legal documents!

That office was on Wacker Drive in the Civic Opera Building. It is on the Chicago River, quite far inland, but we were high enough (42nd floor) to see Lake Michigan. The building is still there, but the business is now all but gone and relocated to the suburbs. I still remember the name – Mason, Kolehmainen, Rathburn & Wyss.
