For Sandwiches and Burgers: Between Two Baking Sheets
From THE FOOD LAB, J. KENJI LÓPEZ-ALT

For this method, I line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, place bacon on top of it, top with another sheet of parchment, then place a second tray on top before throwing it all in the oven. (You can also line the bottom pan with a piece of foil before adding the first parchment sheet, for easier cleanup.) This technique results in extremely well-rendered and evenly browned and crisp bacon—keeping it flat means the bacon is essentially shallow-frying in its own fat the whole time—as well as bacon that lies completely flat. The only downside is that, because evaporation is inhibited, it takes longer to crisp, about 25 to 30 minutes.

Why would you ever want flat bacon, you ask? It’s mainly a boon for sandwiches and burgers, because it makes the bacon much easier to stack.

Texture: Very crisp and evenly browned, with a few lightly chewy bits. Completely flat, with fat that melts as you chew.

Just the other day I found we have three (3) practically unused boxes of parchment paper, purchased for some recipes then forgotten. Additonally, we have several small plastic bags with a few pieces of frozen bacon each. Sounds like a wonderful way to use them! 🥓

Well, czarina, apparently the parchment paper went into hiding until enough bacon thawed out.

Bacon was originally cut thick and done in an oven but the thin/pan fried became the ‘go to’ in modern ‘hurry up and eat breakfast’ America. As soon as we get out oven fixed
I’ll do some of the smoked back I did a few months back…when the oven worked (hear the, GE?).

Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf club may have committed federal immigration crimes by handing out fake green cards to undocumented workers – and the FBI and Robert Mueller are playing a role in the probe
    • The New Jersey Attorney General’s office has received evidence of fake green cards two undocumented women were issued at Trump’s New Jersey golf club
    • Victorina Morales, 45, and Sandra Diaz, 46, handed over their fake green cards and false social security numbers
    • They are part of at least five undocumented housekeepers at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey who say they received false documents
    • Attorney Anibal Romero, who represents the women, said he’s been contacted by Robert Mueller’s office and the FBI in regards to the case
    • Neither office has confirmed opening a formal investigation into the matter

Romero, a Newark attorney, reached out to Mueller’s office to contact federal authorities, before meeting with state prosecutors about the golf club’s fake documents.

‘I wasn’t sure, one, if they’d take me seriously and two, if this could backfire on my clients,’ he said to The News.

If this is true, then his clients should be deported, because they have committed two crimes: one, entering the USA illegally; two, using false documents.

      I read the article.

Sounds to me like a bunch of malarky and it is of very murky persuasion.

Diaz is from Costa Rica and used to work at Trump’s New Jersey golf club and has since obtained legal status in the U.S. Morales is a Guatemalan national. She is still employed at the club but has stopped going to work in light of the allegations. She claims that a supervisor gathered her information and took her picture in the laundry room of the club. Then a few days later the boss of the golf club told Morales he received her fake documents and he’d keep them.

An unmade supervisor and “boss”. Hmmm…

Morales and Diaz first came forward in an interview with the New York Times earlier this month saying that Trump’s golf club knew they were undocumented and gave them fake work documents.

So a “boss” at Trump’s New Jersy’s Golf Club gave them fake work documents.

      or

Then a few days later the boss of the golf club told Morales he received her fake documents and he’d keep them.

      It can’t be both especially since they are claiming that the “boss” kept the documents to control ilegal criminals;

Romero says that the manager’s tactic of giving out fake documents and holding onto them deliberately entrapped the workers.

‘This was a practice and pattern. My clients felt like they were trapped and they felt like the fake documents could be used against them,’ he said

      Hmmmm….

Diaz has since obtained legal status in the U.S.

Diaz is 46. She came here illegally broke multiple laws was too old be part of the criminal unconstitutional amnesty of DACA so how did she obtain “legal” status? Asylum?

      Hmm ….

But still, Romero hopes that the investigation can unearth a greater problem going on behind Trump’s lavish golf club doors. “They are the victims here. Any attempt at charging them would ignore the real problem,’ he said.

“They are the victims here. Any attempt at charging them would ignore the real problem,’ he said.

Romero’s statement is factually, legally, morally wrong.

They are a part of at least five undocumented housekeepers at the golf club who say they were given fraudulent documents as a part of their employment. They also claim they were subjected to racial harassment and abuse at the club.

      At least five? 5 ?

How long has the golf course been open? How many housekeepers has it employed?

Even the Washington Post is leery as part of its headline it reads “Housekeepers are saying

      😏

      Send them home.

Same thoughts as me Aus. With an organization as big as the Trump empire there will be legal immigrants who get in but with willful traceable acquiescence and action of the “boss”, not believable in my opinion.

If they are not presently working, who is paying their bills?

And since the DNC was working daily to keep Donald Trump out of the Presidency, why didn’t these claims come to light right after he announced he was running?

I’m sure the club human resources department knows it’s not worth the hassle to hire illegals. If a certain H.R. guy was doing so, it would be against policy, of course. Was he getting paid under the table by the women? Why would he bother hiring illegals when getting Americans to work at the club would be easy even at minimum wage. Depending upon when they worked there, minimum wage was $8.60 starting 1/1/18. On a 40 hour week, that’s $1,376 per month minus taxes, but plus benefits. If you live with someone and share expenses, that’s a livable wage…so, yeah, Americans would start working for that with the hopes of getting raises if they do good work.

Anyone who thinks Donald Trump approved/knew of of this type of hiring, just isn’t realistic. A high-profile person like him would be aware of the pitfalls of such illegalities. It’s not like he was unknown to the public and could fly under the radar. People gossiped about him all the time.

Just an aside, but, very interesting choice of words.

frequently told people that Mr. Trump was not up to role of president, according to two former administration officials.

We have had a lot of people play the role of president, that is what Hillary wanted to do, Jeb also – and every other candidate. President Trump actually wanted to be president to restore our country. This is unfathomable to a certain element of society.

I should have read more than the headline, shame on me. All in all not that bad of an exit interview.

I only read the Durden article, not the L. A. TIMES article itself. Why don’t people just quit and not talk about things that were said, done, intimated in private?

I’ve been retired for nearly eleven years and have stuck to the agreement signed when hired at my last job…and that was “what goes on here is CONFIDENTIAL.” I’m privy to a great deal about my boss’s business and personal life and wouldn’t dream of talking about any of it even to my closest friends. I feel strange on those occasions I relate something innocuous like a funny story he told at a gathering which wasn’t confidential.

General Kelly was an employee. And I thought our President had those working for him sign confidentiality agreements. If Kelly did sign one, then he’s dishonored himself for breaking his pledge just by talking to the media, thus allowing them to twist his words (if that is what was done). It’s called “giving aid and comfort to the enemy” in my book. I am really teed!

Interesting – WP wouldn’t let me post this so let me word it another way.
There was no place to comment under the ‘29.4 billion pixel’ post so lemme say:

This looks like a Chinese ‘copy’ of some US technology being used in a number of major cities. Chinese undoubtedly stole the idea and technology involved and put their own imprimatur on it – as they do. It’s also in use in Mexico.
In our version a drone orbits over a city at about 20,000 feet, continuing to record everything going on below it. The data are transferred to the ground and stored so that if any information is required it can be recalled.

The data can be recalled and heavily enhanced by algorithms designed to take the super-hi resolution and enhance it, allowing police or whomever to track one or more cars, trucks, people, etc, over several hours. If the users have cellphone spoofing data, licence plate reader data or, if available, the data your auto’s maker has sent to it thru your car’s online reporting system – they gots a pretty good record of where someone’s been, is and be going.

Then again, I’m sure the Chinese – as with our own local, state and Federal governments – only use it to protect our personal safety.
