“Boo Year” refers to when Boo (black cat) was brought inside to recover from a leg wound (the woman had taken him to the vet when she saw him limping). Unknown to the woman who took all these cats in from their feral life, Boo and Hydrox (old, black and white cat) had been previously captured by some group which catches, spays/neuters cats, sometimes vaccinating them also, then releases them back to the wild area where they were found. Thus Boo’s shredded ear is a sign to others that he’d already been thru the catch & release program.
