  2. This one makes me want to play my piano. Really bad.

And sing. Both are very cathartic, and healing. I know this entire album by heart.

More than James Taylor’s Greatest Hits Vol 1. The last thing she says on this track is “please don’t leave me here”.

The last thing James said was “It seems how lately, baby, got a bad case steamroller blues.”

Fooling around Tuesday on the Internet, I somehow ended up looking for the MAGNUM P.I. 2-parter where Thomas Magnum thinks he sees his dead wife on the back of a luxury yacht. Turns out she was not killed in Vietnam where they met and married. But, of course, they don’t end up together again. It’s probably my favorite of all the episodes…totally romantic and tragic.

Anyway, I wondered what happened to the actress who played his wife, the beautiful Marta DuBois…

The last time I saw her in anything was an interview show, perhaps on EWTN six-seven years ago, where she was talking very sincerely about her return to her Catholic faith. I couldn’t find that interview but did locate a similar but less lengthy one…
“Get behind me, Satan.” Matthew 16:23

Then I looked up her bio, only to discover she had passed away earlier this year at age 65. So I just want to commemorate this sweet woman, Marta DeBois, born December 15, 1952 in David, Panama; died on May 8, 2018 of a brain aneurysm in Los Angeles, California…Requiescat in pace.

P.S. Sorry for misspelling Marta’s surname the second time…I didn’t notice since my eyes were full of tears. 65 is just way too young to die.

    • Very sad to go so young, but a wonderful thing that she turned her heart to the Lord.

      • Indeed.

I am reminded of an episode of Knight Rider, where David Hasselhoff’s Michael Knight gets married, and his wife gets killed on their honeymoon. I think that’s the first time I ever cried watching a TV show. They used White Bird to great effect on the soundtrack.
I don’t watch TV any more, not for many years. I don’t need to cry about fictional characters.

That was THE golden age of television, though, IMHO. Knight Rider, Magnum P.I., The A-Team, The Dukes of Hazzard. Nobody could shoot straight. The enemies were always rich white capitalists, who would have succeeded, if it weren’t for those meddling kids. I think the fun in TV died when all four of those shows ended.

Hope you have better luck than me. I’ve had one since October 16. I think it started as a viral infection and has turned into a bacterial mess. I am on augmentin and it seems to be slowly helping.

I had a ND tell me the other day to put some of the probiotics I am taking in the nasal rinse and do that several times a day. She thinks that will help more than anything. As it was free advice I got at a meeting, I’m not going to gripe if it doesn’t work, but I have hopes. For any help from anywhere.

I just phoned my doc’s office for a refill because I only had 10 days and I need more. They are leaving it to the nurses discretion whether I have to go back in to be seen again. Which will **** me off.

I used to do that. It seemed to help. I use Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract now. Just a couple of drops in the water along with a little salt.

I am a believer in staying away from the over the counter, or prescription, decongestants and cold medications. When we were first married, my ex caught about 4 colds a year. He would take the cold medicine, seem to get a little better, then it would turn into a sinus infection and he would end up on antibiotics every time. This went on for a couple of years. I finally talked him into just suffering through the cold and he stopped the cycle. In fact, he quit catching so many colds.

Interesting POV. Making a film is a lot of hard work on the part of everyone from the janitor to the executive producer. Those who aren’t interested in hard work don’t last…even the kid whose Dad is the director eventually gets thrown out when his old man loses his influence. That there are great salaries for just about everyone is a given, but never think that people don’t put in long hours and a lot of sweat resulting in a product that others wish to purchase.

Stella, I am having your kind of luck now. BTW, I hope all is well with your computer. Haven’t stopped to ask.

Out heat pump started icing up the day before Thanksgiving. Diagnosis was a leak in the evaporator coil but the home warranty company wanted to replace the air handler. So we had to waiit until yesterday due to incompetence on the part of home warranty company and the big time incompetence from the installer.

I get up this morning to see it is iced up again, after a huge check written yesterday. Now they are overnighting a part from Atlanta. I’ll believe that when I see it. Meantime, one morning last week I had almost no hot water in the shower. We assumed that the heating elements, one or both were bad so my husband bought both since he was draining the water heater and changed them out, late in the day after he got home. We go to bed, get up next morning, still no hot water. Fortunately he took a minute to test the breaker, found it was bad, changed it out with a spare one.

That was an easy fix. Looks like the heat pump is not going to be easy.

I’m hoping that if bad things come in threes, the heat pump gets two of the three and the water heater is the third. I’m ready to be a renter for a while. Except I don’t think we’d find a house that we liked that would accept two psychotic dogs, all our grandkids, and us to boot.

Apparently I was wrong and Freddie Mercury did not know that he had Aids before the Live Aid concert. (At least according to those in the know which isn’t me).

    Anyhow.

I believe this is the first time Queen played Bohemian Rhapsody on stage. It is almost surreal to watch it, the crowd isn’t singing along or going mad through the entire song. Amazing. I wonder what the people in the audience were thinking. Did anyone have an inkling that this was going to become legendary rock?

Live Aid was in 1985, from what I read Freddie received his Aids diagnosis in 1987. I could be wrong but that is what the Freddie fanatics and articles say. Don’t know.

I am just in wonderment that it took me so long to appreciate him.

I went to see Widows with my friend today. I didn’t want to see it, but she wanted to see it so badly. It was even worse than I expected. I consider it in the class of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Taxi Driver, two films I was ever sorry I saw. It starts out with sex scenes which include a disgusting kissing scene where you can spend your time counting the blackheads on Liam Neesom’s nose and proceeds to a lot of violent shootings and explosions. I frankly didn’t care about anyone in the movie, since they were all criminals, and even the wives didn’t elicit any compassion from me. They were married to men who were criminals and it appeared they all knew it, so they should have expected their husband’s demise at some point.

    I will not be seeing any more of these films no matter what. This was all the Hollywood crap that they use in their movies nowadays. {spit}

I wonder sometimes myself Wooly. Why take an existence of perfect love and peace and muck it up with angels who would fall and men who would commit the most horrific grotesque atrocities against all of creation? Men who would become apathetic, full of rage hate and depravity? Men who would create the barbarism that is Islam and live out its macabre laws?

I don’t understand. But I don’t have to. I’m sure one day we will have a V8 moment about what seems to be the total nuttery of the very idea of creation. I don’t believe it’s going to happen on this side of the divide though.
