I let BD out earlier this AM, she signaled it was appropriate to do, and she stood in the yard with her head up and eyes closed just reveling in the cold 15 MPH steady breeze out of the north.
As I was watching her two large does came screaming out of the woods and brush on the west side of the house, across the lawn about ten feet in front of BD, and into the woods on the east. They make a thumping sound as their hooves hit the ground so it startled BD but by the time she opened her eyes, took the situation in and processed it – they were gone.
She looked back at the house as if to check if anyone had seen her embarrassing moment, saw me at the window and slinked – hang dog – back to the house. She’s getting a bit old and after years of killing/getting bitten by water moccasins and that run-in with the pig, She’s parked at my feet now, sleeping and probably dreaming of having caught, drawn and cleaned both deer, not aware that she’s not the dog she was 6 years ago. Then again, none of us are.

That would have been a sight to see! We just get coyote, bobcats, armadillos, snakes, owls, and opossums, along with the vulture clean up crews. Your dog sounds like a sweet girl.

We get them all too, I’ve posted before about the queasy feeling of walking outside to find buzzards sitting on our roof ridge…just staring at you.
Daisy’s getting older too, she’s got white on her face clear back to her neck. There’s frequently a deer or rabbit outside at night, lurking by the garden, and they seem to recognize her – thy don’t run off quite as fast, allowing her to retain some self respect.

Apparently it’s a Persian plant called kalanchoebryophyllum, though Iranians likely call it by a colloquial name. I didn’t want to click on the website as it was written in Farsi and I’m leery of viruses/malware.

Good morning, WeeWeed! Guess we’ll have to wait for one of our conservative cartoonists to show a door for Mueller, all Dems and other lefties.
I’m a tad discouraged at the moment as I discovered that the new apartment tenant who offered to take me grocery shopping is a vicious anti-Trump hater, though I already suspected since she brought up the “Camp” fire in CA and indicated President Trump didn’t know what he was talking about re maintaining the forests properly. I’d figured if she didn’t say anything too outrageous, I could put up with it and do some mild push-back…but Dems just can’t resist hating and blathering on about it.
Why DO they insist upon being so impolite? I must say that when I was a leftie, I wasn’t meanspirited to those who disagreed with me politically (not that there were too many who did openly in L.A.).

It used to be a big thing here in the South. Everybody’s mama made potato candy and divinity at Christmastime. My husband said his grandmother always made it. Best s**t in th world, he says. I’ll stick with chocolate.

I’ve never heard of Foster Brooks, until tonight, and he’s one of the funniest men I’ve ever watched perform.
I like roasts, because the comedians are pretty much like “I’m so old, I don’t care any more. Get offended. Good for you. Have fun with that. You be you. I’ll be me.” I can relate.
