I used to have a plant in my garden in Scotland just like that. They call it “Sea Holly”. Very hardy near the coast!

Reminds me bof survival school where we were taught to get under those snow-laden branches, right up against the trunk and use the banked snow for cover. Instructors had a right good time watching us try to do that.

Your divine justice for the day:
Last week the wife of a local NOLA minister was carjacked and killed. She was on her way home when three black thug teens, already driving a stolen car, forced her over and stole her car. The thug driving her car backed over her and killed her, she’d given up the car and was offering no resistance, he just backed over her.
As she was being buried today the police arrested all three thugs. The driver’s being charged with 2nd degree murder and the other two are being charged with principals to 2nd degree murder.

The woman who was killed was named Jeannot Plessy. Now that name may not ring too many bells outside of New Orleans but in 1896 the NOLA ‘Plessy v. Ferguson’ case made history. It’s a standard in any American history class yet when I called a local station and asked if anyone had checked to see if she and her husband were related to Homer Plessy the ‘reporter’ said: “who?’.

It’s the funny Louisiana law, 1st degree requires intent, basically, premeditation. Only real difference in sentences is the 1st carries the possibility of the death penalty and both can carry life at hard labor with or without parole.
