Im not not sure how people get to proclaim a national day, but a carbonated drink with caffeine day is strange! I found a website that lists everything done in a study vs. manufacturers label. Pepsi one is the cola to beat, but scroll down to look up drinks like root beers or starbucks.

On occasion I have had a red bull or monster coffee before a long day but regularly a basic cup of coffee and a 5 yr old keeps me going. 😋

Barq’s diet root beer has zero caffeine but the sugar Barq’s does have caffeine. I mention that only as when eating New Orleans native sammiches (not those post-K carpetbagger sandwiches those Yankee interlopers done brung down, Barq’s is the correct accompaniment.

All life around me is better if I don’t drink much caffeine. I can have a cup of coffee or tea at breakfast, & one glass of iced tea at lunch, but not more than that, and none after about 3 p.m. First I get jumpy, then I talk too loud & too much, get paranoid, and I am WIDE awake for about 8 hours after. Thank heavens for decaf Coca-Cola so I can have a Cuba Libre before dinner in the evening (when I don’t feel like a Lynchburg Lemonade).

Growing up in Gulfport, Mississippi, in the 1960s, Barq’s root beer was the ONLY thing to drink. It was only made in Biloxi, and not available more than a hundred miles away or so. When I went off to college in upstate Mississippi in 1970, I took a case or two of Barq’s back to the dorm with me every time I went home. The company claimed it was the Biloxi spring water in their drink that made it special. Sometime much later, they sold out to a big bottler/distributor and Barq’s went national. Was never the same.

Barq’s was made in both Biloxi and NOLA, it was bottled in different colored containers. The Coke plants bottled it on a seperate line for the Barq’s family and finally bought them out in 2000.
You probably didn’t drink the NOLA Barq’s or didn’t notice the slightly different containers. I thought it was a NOLS drink until I first found out about it. Still like it though.

We are root beer people. We used to have a soda shop that had a couple hundred varieties of soda. They closed and the store which used to sell them as a consolation stopped to sell kombucha and yerba mate instead 😝.
So its not easy to find the fun stuff.
My favorite orange soda is Sprechers based in wisconsin. Man is it good!

The old A&W at the A&W drive-ins with a burger. The rooty beer was thick and foamy and an A&W root beer float…die and go to heaven.

The Australian marsupial can pass up to 100 deposits of poop a night and they use the piles to mark territory. The shape helps it stop rolling away.
Despite having round anuses like other mammals, wombats do not produce round pellets, tubular coils or messy piles.
Researchers revealed on Sunday the varied elasticity of the intestines help to sculpt the poop into cubes.
“The first thing that drove me to this is that I have never seen anything this weird in biology. That was a mystery,” Georgia Institute of Technology’s Patricia Yang said.

This was totally new information for me today! Who knew there was a National Poo Museum! Who imagined the wombat could or would stack cubes of feces! How would I ever use this somehow in my life? Because this is exactly the stuff I retain in my memory, while being unsble to remember what was on the grocery list or where I put my keys…..

A friend has this image in his store’s breakroom, framed, very large. And in his breakroom for the store in Holland, MI, too. Great picture for a breakroom. He’s my age, and we’re on the same page.
How did the 18-28 year olds build the NYC skyline? How did they build the invasion of Normandy?
Let alone gears like this one? It was 18-28 year olds that designed and made this gear. We got to talking about this. We got to talking about presidents. He said Wilson was the worst we ever had (before both our times). I agreed. I said Reagan was a Hollywood Liberal. He agreed. I said I’m a big fan of Nixon. He agreed. We’re both 47-50 and don’t see any 18-28 year olds doing these things. I lightened his heart, when he complained that our governor is still Stabenow (D), because, and only because these young’uns only wanted legal weed with Michigan’s Prop 1. I said, “I voted yes on one. And Republican down the line. So did most of the kids I know. And I know a lot of kids, because I work in the restaurant industry.” He said, “They’re all being influenced by the MSM and the schools’ Socialist leanings.” I said, “No, they’re all rebelling against that, and that’s why we’ll get Trump again in 2020. Of course they’re rebelling against the Establishment.”
I think I gave him some hope with our conversation. He indicated that. I didn’t vote to legalize weed because I like to smoke weed. I voted to legalize weed because there’s meth, coke, crack, opiates, and who knows what else for the cops to risk their lives over, and every good person I know has passed me a joint, no matter what occupation they work in. Usually around campfires in campgrounds, where they are regulars for generations that equal mine and my folks’. That issue is not partisan. We’re not all unwashed hippies with long hair and hair down to their knees.
I know of people who were caught in some states other than mine, where they had 1/3 of a joint in the ashtray. And it was The Third Strike. Life in prison. Most of the states south and slightly West of Michigan, all the way to the border, are like that. For a third of a g*dda^med joint.
And yet I, and these rebellious kids today, will never vote for a Democrat, for what Democrats did to their whole youth, via TV and Public Education. It’s not because we like to get high. We just don’t like authoritarians. Democrats tend to be the authoritarians. Here’s what you can have for lunch. No, you can’t have anything else.
This guy heard me, because I’m speaking the truth. Pot’s not the devil. Meth might be.
Democrats and RINOs are.

Pumpkin pie is done. Yay! Getting prep done for other things. I never eat when anyone else does bc I do all the cooking and serving and cleaning. Maybe this year I can eat a hot meal.
Very cloudy today and cold. Suppised to rain pretty hard all Thanksgiving day. Fire areas will get a lot of help if they get a good wash, just no mudslides!

Gil, I’ll be experiencing Thanksgiving dinner like I have for the last 12 years, at my boss’s house, with his wife and kids. And I love it. I wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for them.
I do the dishes. Because of course I do. Gimme them dishes
I’m their dishwasher, at all their restaurants, and I’m, for some reason, good at it.
I fix their faucets, too. Easy. Down to the inner parts. I know what to get from the Hardware store, in ten minutes. Depending on the fix. Electriclal? Got it. Replace a fluorescent ballast or an electrical outlet? Got it. Dusting the ceiling fans and hanging lamps, moving a ladder around the FOH? Got it. Cleaning around the toilets with a new green scrubbie? Got it. Coming up with my own window cleaner, and doing all the windows? Got it.
Picking up (by hand, with gloves) all the barnwood that it took to build this restaurant from a barn about 20 miles NW of Grand Rapids. With a couple of really cool black dudes from South Chi-Town that helped us, because they were working for the guy we were buying the barnwood from. Those two were so happy to be out of South Chicago, and to be here, tearing a barn apart and selling it to my boss, and helping us fill a trailer with really old barnwood.
Our restaurant is 527.
I and a nice gal laid out every single piece of barnwood on a parking lot. After scrubbing every single piece on sawhorses, with wire brushes, and metal scrubbies. And WE DO THIS BECAUSE WE GIVE A SH.T about the business. When we laid out all this immense amount of barnwood on the giant patio, off season, of one of his other places (summer only), we deck-scrubbed it, with lots of soap and sprayed water. I wish I could give you pictures (I probably did). That was a lotta boards. We then picked them all up and leaned them up against the building and the fences around the patio, and let them dry in the fall sun.
Then, we brought them all three blocks across town to the restraurant they were meant to be used in. And they certainly were.
This building was an antique store (I know both the owner and her hubby), years back. Then we spent and unGodly number of hours emptying out. It was one of those antique stores that you can barely walk through.
Then we rocked it out like we do, and emptied an entire OLD-A&& antique store with vans and such, and turned it, somehow — mostly because Bossman is an idiot — into a Frozen Yogurt shop.
I ran that place for two summers. After helping build it.
Now it’s 527.
I put the epoxy on the bars (both of them), know the brothers who constructed the tables. I put 7 layers of Poly on every single piece of barnwood in that place, except the ones trimming out the ceiling. Those were only 3 or 4. Nobody’s gonna get a splinter up at 9′, right?
Oh, and I painted the floors, twice. And clear-coated them. 18″ roller + pole.
I won’t even mention epoxy floor grout. “I am Grout!”
So happy for the existence of YouTube.
You just got to kick a^(. I’m starting to figure that out.

Somehow, all these late 60s groups get to be played in constant rotation for MY ENTIRE LIFE.
Like I want to hear Hotel California ever again, when I’ve already heard it 10 million times.
It all goes back to Laurel Canyon. And Satan.
The music got better. Most people didn’t notice, because we still have to hear “Take a Load off Annie” every other song on our Pandora. And lots of Classic. Because it’s Classic.
Why am I still hearing Jimi when I could be hearing Bonamassa? How many decades is it going to be before Bonamassa is recognized as better than Jimi?
Does he have to sell his soul, too? Before most of America knows his name like they know Jimi’s?
We are listening to music, against our will, from when Nixon was president. And it’s sick and wrong.

There are certain melodies that make people dance. Regardless of whether they want to dance or not. I do it on purpose, because making people literally dance against their will makes me happy. It’s malevolent, I suppose, making people smile and dance, when that’s not what they want to do.
But they do it. I’ve made whole families smile and dance, so many times. Walking around, all morose, and then I ride by, and hit the brakes at a stop light. Then they’re all dancing and laughing and smiling. Four years old to adult parents. Just because Stevie Wonder.
And it’s all for selfish reasons. It makes me happy to make others happy.
Mashups are a way to make others happy, I think. And dance.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Medical Monday
Mark Carriker has a very rare type of sinus cancer: SMARC-B1 deficient sinonasal carcinoma, and was only the 40th person MD Anderson Cancer Center has diagnosed with this type of cancer since 2015 when it was first discovered.
His wife is shown with him in this YT vid. Here is a photo of Mark and his children taken from his GoFundMe page (where I also got the diagnosis info)…
I started following various members of the Carriker family on their YouTube channels:
1) Mark’s father, Dr. Lee (semi-retired veterinarian) from OutOnTheRanch YT channel (I’ve posted his vids here in the past); his brother, Matt, via the Vet Ranch YT channel which is dedicated to aiding ill or injured animals from shelters; 3) and then Mark on his [HE] Homemade Everything channel.
This delightful and accomplished Texas family would greatly appreciate your prayers at this time of medical crisis and uncertainty.
