James Woods spent the entire day (11/08/18) tweeting and retweeting information about missing people who are presumed in danger in the California #CampFire. He has 1.84 million followers. He is helping to locate people and alert authorities to where people were last known to be. Woods is helping terrified and worried people connect and using his star power to reunite or get information to people about loved ones whereabouts.

All day long he has been doing this.

    God bless you James.

Kiddo’s artist this month is Marc Chagall.

“Marc Zakharovich Chagall (/ʃəˈɡɑːl/ shə-GAHL;[3][nb 1]born Moishe Zakharovich Shagal;[4] 6 July [O.S. 24 June] 1887 – 28 March 1985) was a Russian-French artist of Belarusian Jewish origin.[1] An early modernist, he was associated with several major artistic styles and created works in virtually every artistic format, including painting, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramic, tapestries and fine art prints”
“He had two basic reputations, writes Lewis: as a pioneer of modernism and as a major Jewish artist. He experienced modernism’s “golden age” in Paris, where “he synthesized the art forms of Cubism, Symbolism, and Fauvism, and the influence of Fauvism gave rise to Surrealism”. Yet throughout these phases of his style “he remained most emphatically a Jewish artist, whose work was one long dreamy reverie of life in his native village of Vitebsk.”[5] “When Matisse dies,” Pablo Picassoremarked in the 1950s, “Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what colour really is.”

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Chagall

He loves the bright colors and the concept of painting what he dreams. Marc Chagall would frequently paint goats, but it turns out there was a reason:

“In general, Chagall’s inclusion of farm animals into his paintings allude to his memories of childhood. In particular, visits to an uncle on a farm where he knew every animal by name. Many of Chagall’s paintings include farmyard references such as to his childhood in Vitebsk, alongside images of Paris.
The goat is a Jewish symbol for the day of atonement – a feast when the sins of the people were once symbolically expiated ( Leviticus X!V) by tying a red ribbon (rep. the sins)around the neck of a goat and casting him out into the wilderness to die. (After the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, a rooster or hen was used for this purpose instead). See painting on this subject by William Holman Hunt.
It is most probable, that Chagall used this image with both these ideas in mind.”

I’m listening to President Trump’s presser where he slapped the snot out of Acosta.

    Two things I’ve noticed;

    1) President Trump said that he knows more about the democrats than they know about him.

    2) More importantly, I’m about 35 minutes in and from President Trump’s first words there was something different. And then it hit me. President Trump is tired. He turned off the theatrics and the negotiator and simply let his disdain for the media show. This was Trump raw, it was the Trump that Fred Trump said “Don’t be so blunt. Add some sugar son.”

I like this Trump at least as much as the other Trump.

    Trump sugar free. Sweet.

We still have yet to see a single snowflake! Odd to be this late into November without a whiff of white stuff. It’s been cold; we had several days at +5 degrees, and now consistently about 15-20 degrees overnight with daytime highs in mid 30s. Just clear blue skies and bright sun. No snow predicted for the next 10 days. We were rewarded with some Northern Lights on Sunday and Monday nights, a somewhat rare treat. Not the most stunning display, but still pretty awesome. First time in the last 2 years for me (they can be surprisingly easy to miss if you don’t just happen to wake up at 2 am or so and bother to get up, put on a heavy coat and boots, hat, gloves to go outside and look).

I wish I had a “Lights detector” on the roof of my house that set off an alarm at my bedside! But no. People who want to see them often set up their own phone tree with friends to call around when the lights are out. Helps to have a few insomniacs in the group. It also helps if you have a north-facing window looking across a clear field so you know whether it is worth gearing up to be outside for a half hour. Unfortunately I don’t. I have to walk 10 feet from the house to get out from under the eaves to see the night sky to the north. I usually check the aurora forecast website at the Univ. of Alaska Fairbanks before going to bed. On nights with high auroral activity, I’ll drink a big glass of water before going to sleep, guaranteeing I’ll have to get up to pee about 2 am. Then I’ll check the website again to see where the lights are most likely, and if they are in my area I’ll go outside and look. But the website doesn’t account for local cloud cover, so even if they are likely, doesn’t mean I’ll be able to see them.

            • Hi Czarina, I haven’t received it yet, but Stella is busy. I’ll continue to check.

My cousin who travels a lot likes Tripadvisor for info. I looked up the hotel, and it’s directly on the water. The weather for those days has sunshine 🙂 40-50 degrees in the day and 30-40 at night. The windiest day is Wed. It gets very raw right on the water with the Atlantic Ocean and wind, but I don’t know what you’re used to as far as weather goes, just realize it will be damp outside around the hotel. The sun should help get rid of the dampness though.

I don’t know if you’re renting a car, and that makes a big difference in ease of getting around.

I’m not sure of your interests, but I like to see what a particular city has that others don’t. I would get a guide and walk the Freedom Trail. The guides make it much more alive, and you’re not alone with headphones on. They are dressed in period costume 🙂
I would also see if the USS Constitution is open and go onto it. Both are not far from your hotel.

              The Duck tours are popular.

There is also a “Hop on Hop off pass” to get around, just make sure where you are going. Maybe a group of people going to your convention would go together.

If you like art museums, The Museum of Fine Arts is really nice with hundreds of beautiful and famous exhibits.

Going across the river to the Harvard Museums in Cambridge would be nice if you liked the glass invertibrate photos I posted this summer. Harvard is also the only place with the glass FLOWERS. They have many more of the flowers than invertibrates.

There is a bus tour that goes around Boston, Cambridge, Lexington, and Concord. But honestly, unless it was on your lifetime bucket list to see Lexington & Concord, you’ll spend most of the time on the road in the bus.

This is a photo of the public gardens from Tripadvisor from Nov 2016. The Swan Boats are closed, but I don’t know if would be of interest to you. There may also be architecture tours, there used to be, but they were usually in warmer weather.

We had a bad windstorm up here in NH that blew all the maple leaves off which was too bad. It was such a good year for color even the oak leaves are nice colors. Maybe they did not blow off in Boston.

Here is the tripadvisor link for Boston

              https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g60745-Boston_Massachusetts-Vacations.html

Let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll check emails, and also back to this page for a couple more days.

McCarthy introduces bill to fully fund Trump’s border wall

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) introduced a bill on Friday to fully fund President Trump’s proposed border wall, a chief campaign promise that Congress has struggled to deliver.

The measure, dubbed the “Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act,” provides $23.4 billion to construct a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, with $5.5 billion in funding available immediately.

About $16.6 billion would be dedicated to physical barriers, while the rest would cover technology, operations and other infrastructure costs associated with border security.

The money would come out of the annual Department of Homeland Security budget, leaving it up to appropriators to decide where to cut from in order to cover the cost of the bill.

“For decades, America’s inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created huge loopholes in the legal channels we use to welcome immigrants to our country,” McCarthy, a top Trump ally who seeks to replace retiring Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) next year, said in a statement.

“President Trump’s election was a wake-up call to Washington. The American People want us to build the wall and enforce the law,” McCarthy said.
