Hey Gil, how’s your little man? Just want to offer another little boost of encouragement. As a young mother I got beat to pieces with my oldest son and his school problems. I found little support and my heart hurt all the time and I was so afraid for him.

I want you to know that while he had valid problems we had to deal with, most of the fight came from people who just didn’t want to deal with him or help him find his way. He was too much trouble and they viewed children like a shopping trip to the grocery store, let me pick this easy kid. I am putting that one that requires extra effort back on the shelf.

And I also want you to know that there is a good chance next year almost all of this will have been resolved in his first year, just as my younger two sons settled in and did very well in school. Whatever the outcome, you will find the right path for your little guy, and he will be okay.

My oldest son is one of the very finest men in the world. He has the biggest heart and a great work ethic, and no matter what comes at him, including mistakes and failures and odds stacked against him, he gets back up and he works, and he gets better, and he is happy.

His path hasn’t been an easy one, but he is strong for making the journey. But here is the thing. I have two other sons who were round pegs in roung holes and all was right for them academically. School is never easy, and there are other issues, but academically they were just fine in school. Their path in life has been rocky as well, and they have faced challenges too, just different ones.

I just wanted to tell you that I hope you won’t let this get you down and out like I did. Believe in yourself and him and always have hope. Boys take time to settle in and grow. And each one is different. They aren’t robots. Schools would like robots. So keep your spirits up and don’t let today’s difficulty make you think you face something huge and scary.

He is like a little roller coaster. Up annd down. Had a tantrum on monday and I had to pick him up, then no school on tuesday but I had school at home. Between being sick, low blood sugar(no diabetes just bad eater), and being the youngest in school its a challenge. Yesterday he had a good day.
Today we are on the way to psychologist who agrees with me there are zero hits for any big behavior problems but very much so craves 1 on 1 attention and tantrum may be attention seeking fed by low blood sugar.
I got a notice that the initial IEP meeting is November 28. Then Ill know if school will kick him out. I also found through medical insurance a psychologist to get a 2nd opinion. Thats on Monday for 1 of 2 appointments.
Yes I am stressed, with little support. Ill find a way to get through it all.

Being the youngest could be a big part of the challenge. My oldest two were born shortly after the Tennessee cut off date for kindergarten, so they were given another year to mature.

My youngest was born on the cut off and I let him go to a public school kindergarten and told him it was a practive year. The next year I put him in the parish school kindergarten. Which by the way, was a Montessori class. Have you checked that out?

Only Montessori nearby is pre k. There is a private catholic school run by nuns but its the most expensive and exclusive school. Something like 15k a year plus mandatory “gift” to diocese yearly.

Thanks lovely. I’ll claim experience, but not so much sagacity. 😀 I have been through the hard knocks, that’s all.

I swore if my oldest son made it through high school I was going to order a cap and gown for me and follow him across the stage, because I worked harder to get him through school than I did myself. So God, having a huge sense of humor, decided to mess with me.

They had to take the cap and gown to have pictures made. I asked him where it was after and stupidly thought no more about it when he told me he had them in his truck, ready to take to graduation.

On the big day he told me it needed ironing. He brought it to me, having had it in the floorboard of his dirty old truck the whole time. It had a grease spot about three foot in diameter right on the front. This was about thirty minutes before we had to leave.

I went ballistic, having earthquake level fits. My husband and other two sons sat on the couch and never said a word. My oldest son kept coming upstairs to argue with me as I screamed and cried and shook the house while trying vainly to make a gallon of grease vaporize off the material.

Finally, after each time he came upstairs making me even more unstable (and loud) my husband told him to come downstairs and shut his dumb mouth.

His graduation was indeed a day I will never forget. And he still (at 42) does not understand why I was soooooo enraged.

This may sound off the wall, but I believe demonic forces inhabit humans in various parts of the ROP world, in particular, though certainly not exclusively. Afghanistan is one of those places. Horrible things have happened there for centuries.

Ephesians 6:10-18 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition……

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.

Are they trying to steal the election from Rick Scott? I seem to recall that Nelson was all in a snit about the votes not being counted in Broward or some such thing.

We so desperately need election reform for federal offices, especially. Perhaps there should be two separate ballots–one for state/local and one for federal–and two poll books. An authorized, bonded federal official should come around to pick up those boxes of ballots at the end of the day along with the books. Nothing is counted after those boxes are picked up except for absentee and military. None of this business of finding ballots in someone’s trunk like happened to get Al Franken into office.

  16. Hello Everyone!
Sorry I’m posting so late, but I’m still going a bit slow.

Working the polls went well, & Thank God they had the humidity controlled this year. I think everyone complained after the 2016 humidity debacle. I was fine until about ½ hour before closing when a young woman came who apparently bathed in perfume, but I rebounded after she left & we all fanned the area out! DH had a bad backache from sitting in the folding chairs for 4 hours. I could not post yesterday because my eye was swollen & sore again since I did not put the steroid ointment in on election day so I could see. Now I’m back, the swelling & pain has decreased, & I can post!

We were there from 4-8pm, & then for almost another hour packing up. Everyone was very nice. People came in bunches as usually happens in these types of things – I have no idea why.

The 4 things needed to vote are Identity, Age, Domicile, & Citizenship. The biggest glitch was people thinking their drivers license proved citizenship. Those with a passport or birth certificate, & a current drivers license were a breeze. The young 1st time voters were so cute! They were a bit nervous, & brought their youth drivers licenses, some with a parent, some without a parent but with a folder of info 🙂 I had quite a few name changes for women recently married, & quite a few people moving into, or back into, town. In our state people have the choice of being Dem, Rep, Libertarian, or Undeclared. About 2/3rds of the people yesterday were undeclared, then republican, then much fewer democrat.

There were only 3 or 4 people who were not eligible to vote. I had one young man who really lived in another town when I questioned him about domicile, so he could not vote here. Apparently most of the people who are not allowed to vote who present themselves are people who either don’t want to wait in a longer line at their voting place & believe they can vote in any town in the state, or people who are not allowed to vote here are those who KNOW they are trying to vote illegally. These latter people live in another state, or even another town, where it is heavily one party (somehow it seems always democrat), & they want to “make their vote count” & sway a purple town or state their way.

Our town has been turning more republican the past few years. People here like their income$, & as Massachusetts gets more crazy, more reasonable people move here. Sadly the NH state elections except for governor mostly went Dem, so that’s really bad. Locusts are a problem. What are locusts… people who destroy their state by voting regressive, then don’t like the taxes and crime, so they move here and continue to vote the same!!! Out of state students, & people being bussed in are the voter fraud problems here. The democratic party etc. has also dumped millions of dollars into the state this election cycle, while the republicans are basically a no-show. Because of the mini blue wave here, our state legislature will do nothing to fix voter fraud. We will continue to get researched facts, but are now dependent on the federal AG to do something about it, WHICH THEY HAD BETTER TAKE MORE SERIOUSLY BEFORE THE 2020 ELECTION, OR THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN FOR A SURPRISE. We are also starting now to vet candidates & get our own ground game going for the next election since we received close to zero help from the useless RNC.

I am very grateful for those on our side who vote, and livid about those who can’t be bothered to, but just voting is no where near enough anymore. If you’re CAPABLE BUT UNWILLING to be an activist, you are part of the problem. The opposition has the time, the organization, the money, the media & the lack of morals (cheating). Unless we match or exceed them on all but cheating, we will continue to lose everything we hold dear that gives us the best country on the planet. Our votes, President Trump & his rallies, great as they are, are no longer enough to win.

    Just my humble opinion.

    The White House • November 8, 2018
America’s flag flies at half-staff tonight

Late last night, 12 people were killed in a horrific shooting in Thousand Oaks, California. This morning, President Donald J. Trump signed a Proclamation as America mourns alongside the victims’ families and communities.

“As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence,” President Trump writes, “I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, November 10, 2018.”

President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were briefed on the shooting and the police response early this morning. “Great bravery shown by police. California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times. That Sheriff’s Sergeant died in the hospital,” the President tweeted.

“God bless all of the victims and families of the victims. Thank you to Law Enforcement.”

After the shooting in 1000 oaks last night, a wildfire has started today, just ahead of santa ana winds set to begin tomorrow. Thats a lot to deal with.

“A wildfire has burned 8,000 to 10,000 acres in the Santa Rosa Valley near Camarillo Springs Thursday afternoon — triggering mandatory evacuations and the closure of the 101 Freeway in both directions.

The blaze, dubbed the Hill Fire, comes amid a red flag warning and an expectation from forecasters that Santa Ana winds in the area will worsen Thursday night. Winds from the northeast are 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

About 2 1/2 hours after the Hill Fire broke out around 2 p.m., a home, trucks and trailers appeared to be burning in the area of Old Conejo Road and Vista Conejo on the western end of Thousand Oaks, aerial video from Sky5 showed.

Later, transmission towers for power lines appeared to be in the path of the fire.

Residents in the Camarillo Springs area and Vicieto Trailer Park are facing mandatory evacuations, as are the California State University Channel Islands, Dos Vientos and Camarillo Springs areas, the Ventura County Fire Department said on Twitter.

Another blaze – the Woolsey Fire – was burning in the Simi Hills near the former Rocketdyne facility, prompting voluntary evacuations in nearby Calabasas.

The Hill Fire was burning just a few miles from the site of mass shooting that also brought out Ventura County first responders Thursday at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks.”

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

    Prayer for Justice Kavanaugh:

    https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/kavanaugh-v.-ford
“After watching her husband rip into pro-death senators who used Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in attempts to derail the appointment of her husband to the U.S. Supreme Court, Ashley is asking all people of faith to unite in praying Psalm 40, which reads:”

“BE PLEASED, O LORD, TO DELIVER ME, LOOK DOWN, O LORD TO HELP ME. LET THEM BE CONFOUNDED AND ASHAMED TOGETHER, THAT SEEK AFTER MY SOUL TO TAKE IT AWAY. LET THEM BE TURNED BACKWARD AND BE ASHAMED THAT DESIRE EVILS TO ME.”

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
