  3. This is all music from video games. Nobuo Uematsu, composer since 16-bit Nintendo games, and phenomenal musician. Will go down in history.

I just wonder, whenever I watch an orchestra perform, “could they do this without the conductor? Waving his wand and hands around like a lunatic?”

Could they? They’ve got the notes on the paper in front of them. Is he like the coach on a basketball team? They can’t win the game without him swinging his hands around? The musicians can’t read a score without some dude swinging his arms around, distracting them from the score?

I don’t get the purpose of a classical conductor, is all I’m saying. His role makes no sense to me.

    Liked by 2 people

    • I think the conductor is someone who has rhythm, can’t play a single instrument, and is wealthy and connected enough to swing a wand like a lunatic, while people who can actually play instruments do so, and who gets way paid more than the people who actually play instruments, for some unknown reason.

Nobuo Uematsu is a genius. The games are good (Final Fantasy 6, 7, etc.), but his music is the very best thing about the games. Astonishingly-good music.`

      • Not kidding. The only reason you want to continue playing a Final Fantasy game is so you can hear more Nobuo Uemastu music. Sad he’s gone, and bless his Soul. He is a treasure.

Wooly, it is evident that you never sang in a real choir or an orchestra. Many conductors and choir directors have extensive musical training in voice and/or instruments.

The choir director of my youth had an excellent musical education. She studied operatic voice and was a talented pianist and player of our large pipe organ. She taught us the music that we sang – the interpretation, when to breathe, when to start and stop. Without her leading us, we would probably have been a mess!

Leonard Slatkin, a past conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, studied at Juilliard, comes from a family of musicians, and is a composer.

If you listen to recordings of the same classical piece by different orchestras, you can hear a difference in tempo and interpretation.

Here is an article about it:

The conductor is there to bring a musical score to life, communicating their own highly refined sense of the work through an individual language of gestures, which might sculpt the musical line, tease out nuances, emphasise certain musical elements while controlling others, and essentially re-imagine an old piece anew. These usually fall to the left hand.

While there are some common gestures, most great conductors have their own unique style, from Furtwängler’s spur-of-the-moment intensity to Valery Gergiev’s weird trembling movements, described by critic Daniel Wakin as “waggling his fingers in character with the music” and which Gergiev himself has suggested arises from his former incarnation as a pianist.

Even in a small group, like a 4 member band, one has to be designated as the timekeeper, because our internal clocks are not exact. A difference of 15 thousandths of a second is noticeable.

Singing bass on Billy Joel’s, “The Longest Time” a capella with three others, I tend to get excited and rush the tempo as I snap my fingers. I have to focus on the lead singer and let him set the tempo, thus making him the timekeeper.

  5. My husband was working on a song with his new band last night. There was a biblical lyric “deep calls unto deep” that made me think that God is a poet as well as an artist (fall colors, sunrise, sunset, birdsong, etc). Who can truly fathom “deep calls unto deep” or explain it in all it’s glorious shades of meaning?

Blessings to all. May God again grant His favor to our nation as we select leaders. May His Will be done & may He continue to have mercy & compassion on us all!

And here I thought that the only was for us to deal with terrorist Islam was to invite them in en masse, infuse them into our culture and treat them to hugs and warm bread. What I get for listening to Democrats.

Lemon’s from Baton Rouge so he should look to home to see that BR is still way up there in killings per 100,000 – it was leading Chicago earlier this year – and is still in the top tier of HIV/AIDS infected cities per 100,000. In both instances the city’s black population is grossly over represented in proportion to their places in the city’s demographics. If Lemon’s looking for terror footprints I suggest he readjust his optics.

When CNN hands you Lemons you make Lemon AIDS. Doesn’t make sense but it’s a good sound bite – just like Lemon.

Good morning, Nyet! Since I voted via absentee ballot, my world tour continues. Today I’m in the Danish countryside…

and ran across this green house…

…where a group of Danes were having an eatfest and they invited me to later partake of various Danish delicacies…Good thing I have my trusty translator so I can figure out what they are saying…
“Many wild plants are edible. We will collect together the plants and fruits of the season and cook them over fire. We can bake bread after we have painted flour, tender butter and low cheese. Meat can also be roasted over the fire or smoked fish in the oven. We will also hear exciting stories that are linked to trees, plants and fire making. Perhaps the fire should be turned on with fire steels like in the Viking Age?” Goodness only knows what this is…

I don’t want to be impolite by not adding anything to the repast; so anything you can send would be terrific! Tak skal du have (THANKS SO MUCH!)

I’ve been doing a lot of social media for some state candidates, because of that even if I could overlook Libertarian candidates supporting open borders, abortion, gay marriage and boys dressed as girls in the girls’ bathroom, their rudeness and total annoying behavior could not be overlooked.

I’ve only been helping the most conservative and those who have proven they are the most conservative by standing up to all the tax increase RINOS, yet every post Libertarians including Libertarian candidates make snide rude remarks.

Today I feel like I’m finally free and can post under my own name and say what the hell I think. So as they’re flooding all of social media telling people how to vote, I’m telling them why I will never vote for a Libertarian, the ones not deleting my comments are being their rude obnoxious self and calling me a bible thumper while also telling me I’m not a real Christian. A real Christian would welcome all people into our country. I think they’re even to the left of democrats on open borders.

They sure spend a lot of time crying as well. I’ve saw several people won’t vote for them because both parties tell people it’s a wasted vote or will steal votes.
Then of course they go into attack mode when they’re told people won’t vote for you because you don’t share their values.
I had one tell me this morning that I instead will vote for Republican because they say they share my values but don’t legislate what they say.
I told him well at least they lie and tell me they share my values, you guys on the other hand are like democrats and tell me you don’t share my values. So I choose to vote for the people who might tell the truth and actually legislate the way they say they will or vote for the people who I know will legislate they way they say they will.

They are nuts though and I don’t really see how they expect any conservative that pays attention to vote for them instead of voting against someone. Not many true conservatives I know that are lining up to vote for open borders, abortion, drug legalization or LGBT policies. This guy was truly on welfare, lived in an old run down trailer with broke windows, weeds as high as his house, a real shithole place. I know many poor people who live in old trailers, but they keep them up and make their place look nice.
He now lives in a house that shouldn’t be affordable on his salary and he’s turning it into a shithole as well, he hasn’t broken any windows yet, but apparently he doesn’t see the need in hiring someone to mow his yard or bless his poor little heart mow it himself.

I guess though you can give him credit for removing folks off the welfare rolls, since he fired a lot of good people to replace them with his welfare family and friends. Not supposed to be paying for CLEET training on our dime unless they come up through the volunteer ranks, but they all go moved to the front of the line. One of them had to be moved to jailer because he was a felon and couldn’t legally carry a gun. He had to be let go though after the county had to settle several jail rapes.

The sad part is 3/4 of the people in this county you can tell this too and they say, “I didn’t know that.” That’s why we get what we get.

L still stand by my belief that the people should have the option of public servants, appointed or elected, who are found guilty of malfeasance whole in office.
As for the deputy who was moved because he was a felon, if he were prohibited from carrying a gun that same law should prevent him from working around guns too. For example, a husband with a felony prevents anyone living in that house from possessing a gun as it gives the felon access. A felon prohibited from owning a firearm cannot hire and armed bodyguard for the same reason but it’s generally hard to get the Feds to prosecute unless they have it in for someone involved.

You’d think. Hell you’d think you’d check that crap out before you hire someone as well.

I remember 20 or so years ago there was an undersheriff who had been in the department for over 10 years. Then it was discovered he was a convicted felon before he was hired. Nobody caught it all those years.
The kicker though was the people who stood in front of the courthouse with signs protesting him being fired and the people who wrote letters to the editor of the paper saying how unfair they were to him and he deserved to keep his job.

Yes, I believe so, but we had a huge influx of PR’s after the hurricane and they haven’t figured out that they don’t have to vote in criminals.

My sweet tooth is limited to chocolate, and I can skip most everything else for a dessert treat. Since before Halloween Czar has been feeding me Reese’s peanut butter cups, which I cannot refuse…. For my birthday last week I had him get me a chocolate cake with chocolate icing & chocolate ice cream. Hope yours is as wonderful as mine was, but now I have no cravings.

  14. Well I can confirm most of my family have voted today & primarily voted for Right-to-Life endorsed candidates–& John James for Senate from MI was the only one any of us were very enthusiastic about. My special needs son & I just got back from our local polling place & there’d been more than 500 votes in just our precinct (w/about 1/2 hour to go). I asked the guy at the counting machine how that compared to 2016 & he wasn’t sure.

The local radio news has been drilling in the concept that 3/10 are motivated by Trump to support him, 4/10 motivated to oppose Trump, & the other 3/10 are who’ll decide the elections. They never clarified if that info was just for Michigan or for the nation…

We heard Jay Sekulow’s ACLJ show when coming home & he was talking about AZ’s Martha McSally (for Senate?) how the polling was saying she was ahead by 0.2% but when actual votes were counted she was thus far up by 8%! Hope this holds true there & across our fruited plain!

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

“After watching her husband rip into pro-death senators who used Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in attempts to derail the appointment of her husband to the U.S. Supreme Court, Ashley is asking all people of faith to unite in praying Psalm 40, which reads:”

“BE PLEASED, O LORD, TO DELIVER ME, LOOK DOWN, O LORD TO HELP ME. LET THEM BE CONFOUNDED AND ASHAMED TOGETHER, THAT SEEK AFTER MY SOUL TO TAKE IT AWAY. LET THEM BE TURNED BACKWARD AND BE ASHAMED THAT DESIRE EVILS TO ME.”

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
