The ability to draw water uphill, against the flow of gravity revolutionized irrigation and the supply of water. Designed in 213 BCE, the Archimedes screw is still used for irrigation today.

All evening I’ve been thinking of ways to resolve the crisis coming to our southern border…thinking and praying. And it came to me that praying for Supernatural wisdom for President Trump…the kind God gave to King Soloman…is a key.
We prayed and voted our man into office. We’ve continued to thank God for the good President Trump has done and is doing for our nation on every front. The President is excellent at solving problems. We know he is working on a solution to this illegal bought and paid for invasion. Please, Lord, give him wisdom.

Good morning, Lucille. Such a beautiful greeting. Thank you. 🙂
Prayer is so powerful, especially when our prayers are all focused on the same thing. This is a powerful prayer a Twitter friend prays for our President:
Father, Cause every plan of the enemy against DJT to fail and let the enemy be ensnared in the trap he sets.
And I would add:
Dear Lord,
Please guide President Trump’s every decision and give him continued strength to withstand the storms that he faces every day. Please be with his family and all those in charge of his protection and the protection of our nation.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Good morning, sand! Amen to both prayers!
We know that the anti-Trump media–and thus anti-us patriots–is waiting en masse hoping for a bloodbath. They are salivating in anticipation of taking our President down because of the optics showing a U. S. soldier pointing his rifle at a Honduran mother with her two kids full of tears and terror (even if they have to do some photoshopping).
Many in the world would happily chime in about the evil Trump. Mexico called the U.N. to assist in the crisis and the U. N. gave them platitudes…another reason we need to pull out of that useless body.

Thank you for the updates. I’ve been very busy today and didn’t know the latest. God has protected our President thus far, so with continued prayers, may He continue to do so.

4 Remarkable Inventions Of Archimedes That Still Baffle Us
“An ingeniously contrived device, the Archimedes’ Screw consisted of a screw mechanism inside a hollow casing. This screw could be rotated by using by the force of wind (via windmill) or by manual labor (presumably via a lever at the top). So, as the shaft made its turning motion, the bottom end of the mechanism scooped up volumes of water. In essence, the volume of water traveled through the casing against gravity, and finally reached the upper level irrigation canals. This allowed farmers to salvage precious water from various low-level zones, including mines and ravines.”
“Now in terms of engineering, there could have been two variants to the design of the Archimedes’ Screw, with one entailing a movable screw within a fixed casing, and the other encompassing a rotating screw that moved along with a rotating casing. In either case, the screw was mostly probably connected to the inner section of the shell with the use of pitch resin. There also must have been scenarios where the entire contraption was created as a collective whole, with the singular piece being made of bronze.”

Listen, tell him he’s wrong about the noodles! Germans apparently do them best because i dont like noodles much but these are awesome.
I floured the roast and browned it in lard. Browned well on all sides, seasoned with salt and pepper, then added plenty of water and let it simmer awhile, turning occasionally. That made the gravy, then I tossed the roast in on top of the Guinness stew in the crock pot to finish off, as I had to leave. Turned out to be a great move.
This recipe is kind of the idea for Guinness stew, but I like carrots, and I always start by browning the meat. I don’t use that much tomato paste, and I also like to brown the onions some with the meat, just not nearly done, enough for flavor. And I add my favorite seasoning that I told you about, Everglades.
https://www.marthastewart.com/316991/irish-beef-and-stout-stew?czone=food/comfort-foods-center/comfort-foods-dishes¢er=854190&gallery=275672&slide=282477
Make an easy Guinness bread to go with the stew. 3 cups self rising flour, 1 Guinness, 1 tbs brown sugar. Mix, put in greased pan, top with 1tbs melted butter, cook 375 until toothpick comes out clean.

Spaetzla does great with game too, it works with the heavy game taste of deer/moose and being made with complimentary spices goes well with salmon and drawn butter. It’s boiled dough, like with mashed potatoes how can you go wrong?

Herr Tundra eats whatever I put in front of him, so we’ll be trying these sometime soon.

Spaetzla are German, they’re the German version of of a boiled dumpling very common thru Europe.

The difference is that spaetzla is a dumpling, primarily a flour dough that’s boilked.

I watched a movie on Netflix today (a Netflix original) titled The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
It is a lovely story, and I think about 100 times better of Netflix after watching it. And shed some tears too, although the ending is happy. The description on IMDB is:
A correspondence begins between Juliet Ashton and members of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, with them sharing their experiences of Nazi Occupied Guernsey. When an idea for a book catches Juliet she goes to visit the island, making lifelong friends and taking life changing steps along the way. This book is told by way of letters and as the reader, you become enchanted by the writers of them and the love Juliet comes to feel for each of the Islanders; Dawsey, Amelia, Isola, Eben, Kit and Elizabeth. A beautiful story of love, friendship and the sadness of friends lost.
Some excellent British actors, including several who were in Downton Abbey: Lily James (Rose in Downton), Penelope Wilton (Mrs. Crawley), and Matthew Goode (Henry Talbot in Downton).

I read the book a few years ago and enjoyed it, so when I saw it come up on Netflix on our “recommended for you based on previous things you’ve watched” I rotated it into our evening entertainment schedule. We both enjoyed it a lot. Some things we’ve recently liked from Netflix are two series: Shetland and Midsomer Murders. Shetland is only 3 seasons long, but a 4th season premiered this past spring so I’m hoping it is added soon. Midsomer Murders is 19 seasons long (yowza) and we’re only up to season 7.

Believe it or not, I have watched ALL of the Midsomer Murders on Acorn. Another favorite of mine is Foyle’s War. I’ll add Shetland to my list.
I just binge watched Menagerie’s favorite, Longmire. That’s excellent too.

FOYLE’S WAR was shown on KCET (PBS) in L.A. and I watched every episode, some twice. I also found online an adorable photo of Michael Kitchen when he was just starting out as an actor and he had shortish curly hair. I put that photo next to my computer at work and looked at 5 days a week for years. LOL! Total crush!

On Shetland, I’ll warn you that I didn’t take to it right away. I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. Some important info/clues goes by as visual images that I did not pick up on. And the Scottish brogue is so thick that I wouldn’t have followed some of it without subtitles. But by the 3rd episode I was hooked. After we watched all the seasons on Netflix, we went back and watched the first season again (only 2 episodes) and picked up lots more detail the second time around.
We loved Longmire too, have seen every episode. Hope they keep making that one.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

It is getting beyond ridiculous in this state, it’s almost a nightly news story now of another teacher arrested for rape, molestation, inappropriate touching, sexting, child pornography. I think we’re up to 43 now just since August when school started. I’ve lost count for the total in 2018.
You’d think this would shut the damn teachers and their supporters up, but no they’re still out there in full force telling people to vote for those who are pro-education aka pro-money. Test scores broke records for how poor students did, yet they’re still harping if they don’t get more money they’re walking out again.
Schools are saying they’re going to change their rules to teachers can only talk to students on social media or texting if it’s school related. Why the heck do teachers need to be talking to students at all on social media or through text messages? I guess they probably think this will stop them from getting caught because about 90% have been caught when parents have read the private messages.
