Calista Gingrich has a kids series of books called Ellis the Elephant who visits parts of early American history that we’ve borrowed at the library. They are a pinch wordy but very good. Rhyming and appealing to kuds from 2 to probably 8. At the end there are resource pages with short summaries of events throughout the story and websites to visit.
Kiddo loves American history so he is liking these so far.

Heres the website. They have coloring pages and games you can print.

This is well worth the read. Here’s a snippet:

“Modern American consciousness, as a whole, has shifted from social control based on historic righteous authority to social control based on modern narcissistic authoritarianism. One way of conceptualizing the difference between the conservative right-wing mindset and the progressive left-wing mindset is that the left has more completely abandoned traditional righteous authority, allowing narcissistic authoritarianism to more completely fill the religious and moral vacuum for the left. Narcissistic authoritarianism relies on a fallacious victimology regarding race, sex, and sexuality, as a primary means of considering oneself good and virtuous. This psychology is narcissistic because it is a closed self-referential belief system devoid of absolute, universal, or unchanging truth about human worth. It is authoritarian because narcissism is inherently tyrannical. There is no escape from or appeasement of this tyranny in the pursuit of imaginary glories of self-image.

But the greatest impact of the shift from adherence to traditional righteous authority to modern narcissistic authoritarianism is that in the former, virtue derives from actual self-sacrifice and good deeds, whereas in the latter, virtue derives from displaying concern for supposed victims – and the louder, the better – without having to do any real service for anybody. That is so much easier and more fun.”

Same here. We usually get a snap of cold, whether it’s frost or skiffs of snow, in September and normally, we’d then follow it with about three weeks of warm weather before winter starts to overwhelm fall. This year however, we’re still waiting for the warmth to return (if only for a short time). then it usually heats up. This year however, we haven’t seen the warm

View from the rebuilt I-10 bridge that, along with one on the I-10 in the western Florida panhandle, was built waaaay too close to the water over large open expanses of open water. Both bridges ran east-west, both bridges were destroyed a few years apart by tidal surges from hurricanes. Only people not seriously considering the inevitability of the bridge washing out in a hurricane were the engineers. Y’all paid for rebuilding both of ’em and we thanks ya.

Seedpods from the Garden of Stupid

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/10/seedpods_from_the_garden_of_stupid.html

…Well, with five strict constructionists likely to be on the Court, Congress will finally have to spend less time fundraising and more time doing its job – writing and passing legislation. For decades now, they’ve simply been relying on their wishes being carried out subjectively by like-minded jurists who seek penumbras and such instead of reading text.

So it looks like another really winning week for the president, as Matthew Continetti (and I) see it – on trade, judicial nominations, the economy, and foreign policy.

Hillary makes Trump look very good and one reason I wound up voting for Trump was not just Hillary in the Oval Office, but the people she’d nominate to judicial and other appointments and the party she’d bring into the government. These past few weeks have done nothing to convince me that doing my little part to keep these people out of power was a mistake.

And in answer to a guy who called Trump an “a**hole”:

As someone has said, Trump may not be a good man but he may be the right man. For example, I’d guess Romney would have folded on Kavanaugh.

Personal characteristics are not what I’d like, Joel, but his foreign policy actually has been good despite sneers from the left and Europeans–remember how renegotiating NAFTA was going to lead to economic disaster and the Chinese would react really badly if we imposed tariffs…they’re now reducing some of theirs. The economy is performing much better than Obama ever said it could, and his nominations to the courts…not just the SCOTUS…have been good, that is for those who do not believe in “the living constitution.”

And the frenzy over Kavnaugh, the smearing and character assassination and the willingness to do and say absolutely anything…so much for “elections have consequences” and “I won”…that’s been revealed the last few weeks do not cause me to regret my vote, much as I’d rather have had a different choice.

I’m still just blown away that Alan Dershowitz would still vote for Hillery. And, I heard him say that he hopes the Dems win the Senate because he wants the balance of power, even though they were discussing that the Dems are talking about impeaching Kavanaugh and the President if they win the Senate. He says that would be a terrible thing to do. I think he is getting senile. He is making less and less sense.

I don’t see a lot of Dersh, but I often like his analytical legal perch. That said if he doesn’t convert to being a President Trump supporter or at least an independent by 2020 I will accept that he is gong in the desert, the attorney version of Joe Lieberman.

Dersh’s stance that he would still vote for Clinton, and that Clinton would be a better president than Donald Trump is a delusional view of the world.

Dersh’s support of democrats even after his friends of decades have abandoned him, even after seeing what President Trump has done for our country, even after witnessing what team Clinton tried to do to Justice Kavanaugh and on and on, just goes to show how deep rooted his emotional ties are embedded in the root of evil.

Sad. I haven’t given up hope for Dersh though. Not yet.

Impeaching a SCOTUS justice would be quite a task, though I wouldn’t put it past the Rats. The House is usually a bit more rabble than the House of Lords…errr,.. Senate…so they’d really have to reach up their collective posterior to come up with a reason. The grounds for SCOTUS impeachment are a bit subjective but trying to impeach Kavanaugh just might be that spark it takes to ignite a civil war. Unless it’s the beginning of football season…the new Walking Dead season…another Star Wars release…

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

It is stuff like this that gives me hope for Dersh. He is turning his own reality upside down.

    Dervish besmirching the ACLU!?

Turning your own reality upside down is rough, and that comes from someone who has done it. Sometimes, very rarely life changes on a dime an individual has a new prism through which they see and it changes everything. Once that happens there is no going back, you can’t even pretend to go back, now Dersh is an attorney so he is a good liar and perhaps he could carry off a false persona for a while but not for another 10 – 20 years.

Pray for Dersh, imagine having him actively participate in this war on President Trump’s side.

Well this is the most interesting thing I’ve read all day.

    https://gab.ai/Thomas_Wictor/posts/37814162

Twitter banned me for stating the obvious:

We’re going to have to see a leftist ASSAILANT shot to pieces on live TV before this insanity stops.

The detectives who interviewed me after Twitter reported me to the FBI?

They proved that I was correct when I said that Jeff Sessions has vastly expanded the manpower of federal law enforcement at no cost to the taxpayer. Sessions is bringing back federal and local retirees and partnering with police, police reserves, and police volunteers.

This frees up the young federal GUNSLINGERS so that they can go out and take down the people who pose a real threat.

The Trump era is not a good time to be making death threats.
