Wish it were the last day of heat & humidity, but the only reason wx people are predicting high 80’s next week is b/c it will be raining alot. Yesterday afternoon was unbearable! Czar was out for a while & came back in soaked in sweat; I was too hot just walking 3x from the car to the door with groceries!
If I win the lottery (or John Beresford Tipton comes to my door!) I plan to have a home near Lucille or litenmaus for May to October.

I do miss fall, the color changes and the tannic smell of the fallen leaves. Here stuff just turns brown a intervals and falls on the ground.

Most of my life has been a battle raking, burning, and mulching dead leaves. This year, I’ll just let those leaves blow about the yard…….

In S. Cal., we had a Fruitless Mulberry that would turn a beautiful yellow in the late fall, well, actually around the end of Nov. Anyway, one year we had a hard frost early and the leaves turned black and stuck on the tree. Then, we had an early spring and the new buds came out with the black leaves still stuck to the tree. It looked really weird.

My neighbor has a mulberry. I hate those things. For one thing, with the birds scattering seeds, I have volunteers coming up everywhere.

There weren’t too many trees in that area that changed color. People used to drive off the main road to drive by our house and see our tree that turned yellow in the late fall. LOL

The Way God intended them to be. I used to just run over them with a mulching mower and grind them into pulp. I figured that by the time the neighbors stopped grimacing about the fact my fall lawn didn’t look unnaturally sterile they’d have compoisted in and it would be on to something else.

I came in from outside a bit back, my gun is still in my waistband holster until I go to bed. The b&w cat’s sitting on the easy chair’s arm, facing me and pawing at the gun’s grip as if trying to get it out. This cat’s planning something serious.

Morning Wee. Got spiders all over the porches and rails and everything else outside, but so far the toothbrushes are safe!
I also have the six year old expert at everything lecturing me about how good spiders are and we need to protect them. Just a few years ago she screamed at the sight of everything except butterflies, now she’s an entomologist. And I am knocking those webs down. On the down low.

Like you, I’ve been trying to educate Czar’s GGS about the value of spiders & the fact that very few are a problem. His mom goes hysterical when she sees one. We find Daddy Long Legs in the upper corners of some rooms, and beautiful banana spiders outside. I try to teach him spiders have jobs to do & are beneficial, so don’t kill them just avoid them. Personally, I get the creeps looking at them but won’t kill them (except black & brown widows). On very humid mornings the yard & fields are scattered with the dewy webs of ground spiders, sparkling in the sun, reminding me of the fact there are a million spiders to an acre of ground…..

Its Mr Gil’s birthday today. Kiddo chose the cake…..a hamburger! They dont make the fries, which Ive seen made from biscuits, cake, churros, or pita, but its cute just the same. Lots of variation in decor too. So he gets a steak, a burger cake, and a new cordless drill since his old battery pack wont recharge anymore. Sounds like a decent day to me!

Some of them were all fondant and looked like plastic. Some were really sloppy. I saw a fatburger, mcdonalds, and in n out design too.

I’ve mentioned a sculpter friend of our, the one who sculpted the Vietnam memorial in NOLA. He used to hold parties after his sculpting pours and he’d make the food himself. Being from Connecticut one of his favorite foods was grinders and he’d make enough so all attending could get stuffed and there’d still be leftovers – he loved grinders.
Czarina took it upon herself to create a large fabric sewn sculpture of a grinder to honor his dinners. All of the components were sewn from appropriately colored and textured materials and the sculpture could be assembled and disassembled.

It’s another form of sub sandwich or hogie. Despite claims it is CATEGORICALLY NOT a po’boy. Difference is as between frogs and toads…though you can make a po’boy out of frogs.

I ordered a small rug to put in front of the TV. I received it a couple of days ago. It is cheaply made and the most hideous yellow/green shade with red designs (I thought there were other colors, too) in an Oriental design rug. I can’t get rid of it. 😦 My little doggie seems to love it. She checked it out, dug on it a little, rolled on it, and curled up and slept on it. She seems to be quite taken with it. Glad it was cheap. 🙄

Tucker has partially eaten the rug I put in my front foyer. I ordered a new one, but I’m waiting a while. He’s still a terrible chewer. Did I mention that he ate the liner out of one of my shoes the other day? They are canvas summer shoes. The whole liner is gone.

Chewing is usually cause theyre bored and need a job. I was always told to get a treat puzzle or a kong to distract them. Would it help?

It helps for a while. He wants MY attention. Some of it is just that he likes to chew. My Stella was the same way when she was a young dog. Not that uncommon.
I’m sure I don’t keep him stimulated enough. I do my best.
ADD: He’s a very “mouthy” dog. I’ve been told that it isn’t unusual for Brittany’s. He chews on my hands and feet, for example.

I got mine a kong and put a treat in it. She got the treat out quickly and walked off. So, I got a bigger toy and put treats in it. She got the treats out in a couple of minutes. Anything she couldn’t get out that fast wasn’t all that interesting, I guess. She just walked away.

He has a lot of good ideas, including cooking and baking in a toaster oven, and how to make a “poor man’s dutch oven” out of two bread pans and a couple of clamps.

Side note. I kind of like open shelving like he has, but I would never want it in the kitchen. Who wants to move everything to clean dust and, as it’s in the kitchen, perhaps some grease too? Used to I didn’t mind that. Now I’m old and lazy.
I used to want lots of built in shelves, in the lgreat room too. Now if we move I plan on built in cabinets, maybe with glass fronts on the top.

The bread turned out well, and it is as easy as it looks. Your hands don’t even get dirty. Next time I will make it in a narrower pan so that it is a bit taller, and not so wide (I used my big skillet this time), but it’s very good.
I like that this guy makes things as easy as possible, using what you have in your kitchen.

Unfortunately I’m not into bread making, just consuming. But I was so inspired by the photo that I went to the bakery, bought a large loaf of sour dough Kalamata bread and a large loaf of Sunflower seed honey bread. I’m already 1/2 through the olive bread…should’ve bought two of them. Addicting and collecting on my hips as I type.

Here, too. The city sprayed a few days ago, because we’ve had some mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus. I hope it helps, but it’s been raining buckets here, so that means more skeeters to come! Oh and on a funny note my step-son’s school mascot was actually a skeeter! LOL!

A joke from World War II which I read as a kid…at an airstrip on one of the Pacific island chains, a mosquito landed on the runway and the crew was out gassing it up before they realized it wasn’t a bomber.
Man, I’ve got the craziest collection of memories packed away in my subconscious. They just trot across my mind unfettered.

Unfortunately kiddo got sick all over in the car on the way to school this am so I was cleaning up that all day and he missed school. No going out for mr gil’s steak dinner, he asked for chinee delivery instead! At least daddy doesnt mind.
