Still on the right side of the dirt. Love to you all, just had to take a break from the norm.
I quit drinking. For almost 4 weeks. Went to one AA meeting, then looked at the symbolism on the coin they gave me, right out of medically-induced detox for four days, then researched it fully and extensively, including how Bill Wilson was a satanist, and how the entirety of AA is satanic itself.
I only had to see, and witness, one meeting to understand that I’ll never darken that door again. It’s bad news. And it’s people are worse than JWs. They were knocking on my window, and actively deceiving me, to try and get me to come back.
I was taught a lot of good rules as a kid: Don’t drive on the railroad tracks. Don’t drink the stuff under the kitchen sink. Don’t actively participate in satanic rituals. Following these rules has served me well.
Once I saw these 2 videos, and again, I looked them up, because I randomly took that coin out of my pocket that they gave me, with a symbol I recognized immediately, since I’ve studied occult symbology since I was a tween at least. I said I know what that thing is. Let us research!
People who defend AA will tell you it’s based on Christian principles. No. No. No.
This guy was on The Belladonna Cure, when he wrote The Book, their Jesus. The Belladonna cure was a stop drinking fad, in the 1930s. He was tripping on a concoction of at least four different hallucinogens derived from plants, when he wrote their seminal Book. While he and his wife were doing seances, using ouija boards, and talking with demons, and Crowley. And Huxley.
You’uns should have seen the fear in the AA dude’s eyes, when I talked with him for 45 minutes after he tried to entice me to another cult meeting. The fear showed up when I said, I have Jesus Christ all day, and you have AA for an hour a day. Never seen anyone back up a small pickup and squeal the tires.
Again, both videos are apt, and right. I will talk anyone I ever meet out of AA, or any other straight-up satanism. I went into a detox on the 13th. Four days. They wanted me to join the 2-week “12 step program”, upon detox completion. I said nope, no thanks. Keep in mind I know God directs my paths. I hadn’t researched it yet, and I still made the right decision.
This guy is into KJV, and shows the biblical wrongness here, quite well, of AA.

What is your alternate plan? Jesus Christ is vague. I’m thinking he probably would encourage you to have a specific and actionable plan.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Also, this hangs outside my door, on a plaque I bought from an atheist shopkeeper.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov 3:5-6. (KJV)
What are my plans? Is that the question I should ask?

There are other groups that help with remaining sober. I don’t know what groups might be available in your area, and suit your needs. Did they have any recommendations in rehab?

Yes. I do not think you should seek to be alone now, and reject help, from somewhere.
People heal in community. People most frequently deceive and seduce themselves in isolation. Generally I reject community when I most need it. I’m prone to isolating myself, and it is especially unhealthy when I have struggles.
I’ve spent most of my life observing the same thing in others. It’s one of the reasons abusers and manipulators seek to isolate their victims.
I wish nothing but the best for you. Now I’m done lecturing.

I know. I’m selfish, and I should have checked in.
I just wanted to change my patterns. You should see my apartment. It’s OCD-clean. I quit drinking 25-oz Natty Ices for four weeks.
You lecture, Menagerie. I listen.
Yesterday morning, at about 7:30, my friend and former bossman asked me if I’d taken up drinking again. I lied. I said, “heck no!”.
I’m not beating myself up over drinking a couple of beers. Just that I lied to him.

Wooly, welcome back ❤️.
Let’s celebrate your sobriety, that you lived through detox and that your life has a trajectory in sobriety fueled by Christ.
Obviously AA is of no use to you. Got it. Understand it. As you know I agree with you on many points when it comes to AA.
In Christ.
Be still and know that I am God.
So how do you suppose you will go about using your freewill to meet God’s plan for your sobriety and the beautiful life that is before you?
We are not created as pinballs with God acting as the plunger, Jesus the flippers and the Holy Spirit the bumpers, we are commanded by God to make good use of His Love and our freewill. We are commanded to lead a God centered self directed life.
It is right and good and holy to say;
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov 3:5-6. (KJV)
It is also a bit of a cop out, to leave it as a given that we humans can fully live this light without major footwork.
We are part of the equation, we have to own and accept the path that we are on, we aren’t called to live in a labyrinth but to progress in His Love and Light.
I guess my question for you is this, you have been sober before, what is going to be different this time? Do you have a network set up to help with your own human weakness and predilection for alcohol abuse?
I was married within 6 months of getting sober, my husband, my budding faith, my new friends all were part of my sober living. In unison they saved my life.
As you know I attended AA for about a year the first 3 months often, after that I met my husband and the trajectory of my life completely changed.
Again I agree with you about AA on many aspects. It is not needed for sober living, but something tangible is needed.
God did not send His only Son down to earth as an adult man, He sent him through Mary, Jesus was dependent on Joseph and Mary for his basic needs, Mary did not leave him in the trough and say “God will provide” both Mary and Joseph took on the very human aspect of raising Jesus, of keeping him safe, alive, of nurturing his humanity.
The bird who built the nest was born therein.
We have to have a plan to care for our humanity Wooly.
I am proud beyond words that you took that first step into the world of sobriety. I am grateful to God that you came through he detox phase with your mind and body in tact.
Love you Mr. Wools!

Very interesting. The cat pictured has some of the deepest blue eyes I’ve seen and juxtaposed against the black fur, it’s really a beautiful combination.

Tundra, been there done that, not that it is necessary but you can just re-click the like button and your liking your own post will disappear. I know because I’ve done it myself and thought, man, people are going to think I’m pretty silly liking my own post 🙃.

Yeah, I tried the re-click thing, didn’t work. Newest problem is that on the new iPad if I click the Word Press bell next to my gravatar in the upper right, it will open the window to show who has “liked” or responded to my comments, but the little circle just goes round and round and the window never loads. I have to get the old laptop out to see what’s in the window, which explains my severe time delay in responding.

Hmm I have the round and round problem if I am not on my own site so I click the open profile in another tab option and then I can click on the bell and see actual replies from people without hunting through Stella’s whole site again and again. Maybe that will work for you? WordPress is a finicky place.

Blue eyes alone are not associated with higher incidence of deafness (that i know of), but all white cats are more likely to be deaf. Not sure if all white cats with blue eyes are more likely to be deaf than all white cats with other eye colors. Interesting question.

That should be “all-white”, as in fur that has no other colors. But not albino, as the eyes and nose tip have color.

I’ve had many cats, and loved them all. But only one was truly gorgeous, the Himalayan with magnificent blue eyes. She was seal point, but not quite as black-faced as the one you showed yesterday. Really tugged my heartstrings to see that photo. She died from old age about 15 years ago.

You don’t get what the picture is? It took me a while, the snow is so high that when they opened the door there was a wall of snow almost as high as the door itself. So the cat can’t go outside.

LOL I thought the snow had gotten inside the door and the cat wanted in. 🙄

Oh, no. You are right if you look at the door. I just mentioned my door because I had the idea that the snow had gotten in behind it, and that doesn’t even make sense.

There is a towel or tarp on top of the door which adds to the oddness of the picture.

Maybe I should explain. My front door opens out. I know, I know, they don’t usually do that. But, it is an apt. with a small entrance area and they all do that here.

I have been trying to figure it out now with more clues, my front door opens in. It looks like there is a guard on the bottom of the door which I would think would be on the outside?
The light on the side of the door could be an outside or inside light?
I’ll stick with an unhappy cat at a wall of snow 🙂 !

It is very rare for a deadbolt to be keyed on the inside. Usually a thumb turn. Also, the trim around the door and floor is interior trim, as well as the plate you mentioned on the bottom.
If it was an outswind door you’d be going out a window. :D. Also, outwind doors, unless hinged properly and installed well in correctly made jambs, are really easy to break into. Always less secure and less well sealed than an inswing door.

Now you tell me. 😦 Actually, I didn’t have a choice. It’s an apt. complex and my door does open out. Truthfully, it is obvious that it can’t be sealed off completely and it is a source of Palmetto bugs, etc. coming in.

Thanks Menagerie! Mystery solved by she who knows what she is talking about 🙂 ! Everything you said makes sense.
I just bought a new print for my house, Romare Bearden, Piano Lesson, I’m trying to decide where to hang it.
I have all white walls so I am finally coming a little out of my shell by adding very colorful artwork to my home, I like the new feel of it 🙂 .

I am usually very conservative with paint colors too, but I branched out when I moved into this house. My two favorite rooms are the most bold. One is a bedroom. It has three different wall colors. One is green, two are aqua, and one is yellow. None of the colors are bright, but not extremely pastel, either. It is a very happy room. The wall decorations are photo prints of tall ships, a Florida beach painting by my mother, and a framed collection of sailors’ knots.
My other favorite is my small bathroom, and I have gotten many compliments on it. It is a pale blue green with white wainscoting. The blue green is called “daiquiri”. It was by far the ugliest room when I moved in, and now it is actually pretty! I removed several layers of ugly flooring to uncover an old-fashioned black and white ceramic tile floor in a basket weave pattern. People are nuts.

Sounds beautiful Stella! Especially the daiquiri, I like colors in other peoples homes, Simply like white walls in my own house.
Growing up our walls always were busy almost chaotic (wallpaper) and so were the floors, and the drapes, and life in general. I always load when I had my own home I would have white walls and I do, well ivory really.
I have a friend who told me about his mom’s pink bathroom and decided if I was going to go with color I might as well go big, so I painted my bathroom pink. I was sorry before the paint dried.
Now I’m all white again. <<<Good thing I'll never run for public office with a statement like that in my online life!
Anyhow one day I may paint my living room a light avocado and see how I like it 🙂 .
I am a big fan of the brightness that the colorful art brings to my home and if I feel overwhelmed by the busyness of it I can take it down and put it away so it is a safer bet.

My living room and dining room are off-white, and my kitchen is a pale yellowy green; I have all white cabinets and a light colored floor. The other bedroom is painted a cocoa color, but I am truly sick of that, and will paint a lighter color, I think.
My mother once painted our kitchen a bright yellow, and it made her sick! My dad repainted it for her.

My cabinets are wood, maple, I have thought about whitewashing the fronts of the doors but Menagerie has given me the great idea of just putting a whitewashed piece of board/cardboard over a couple of them and seeing how it sits with me. Exciting!

If you ever think about changing colors get a big poster board, a quart of the color you want, and paint the big board. Tape it on the wall. Look at it in morning and evening light. Move it around the room.
Never pick a paint color from a sample chip, and never pick it in the store under fluorescent light. You may see a color you like in a friend’s home and paint your walls, only to find out you hate it. Lighting is different in every home, even in different rooms in each home, and lighting changes paint colors.
Also, that yellow, green, or pink paint you love on the chip is going to be about ten times brighter on your wall.
Being a faux painter, I love color, and I’ve always had a passion for wood, hence the cabin life. But after being here so long I want a white house. Or at least some white on the inside.

That’s what I did when I painted my kitchen. I got three different samples and painted them on the wall in large sections before I chose the one I used.
