September 15, 1966: Gemini XI (Conrad/Gordon) returns to Earth

To this day, Gemini XI retains the record for the highest altitude ever achieved by an Earth-orbital piloted mission. Only the Apollo lunar expeditions traveled farther (Credits: NASA).

    In honor of the rapidly approaching fall in other parts of the country than my own, here is a favorite family recipe. It’s better refrigerated overnight, and none of us can find hazelnuts (we probably haven’t tried too hard) so we use pecans and get excellent results.

    Pumpkin Hazelnut Bars
    Crust:
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1/3 cup sugar
    1 3/4 cups flour

    Filling:
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    15 oz. canned pure pumpkin (not pie filling)
    2 cups (16 oz.) cream cheese, softened
    1 tsp. vanilla extract

    Topping:
    2 cups hazelnuts, chopped
    2 tablespoons butter, softened
    1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    2 tablespoons flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine crust ingredients in a bowl until well blended. Press into lightly greased 9 by 13 inch baking dish. Set aside.

    In a separate bowl, blend filling ingredients with a mixer of whisk until very smooth. Spoon evenly over crust.

    In a medium bowl combine topping ingredients. Mix with your hands until well blended. Sprinkle evenly over filling.

    Bake for 1 hour. Cool before cutting.

    We had two granddaughters spend the night. Five year old is presently using her cooking skills and imiaginary ingredients to make broccolo pancakes. I can share that recipe too if y’all want to get adventurous!

      I would also like to know how accurate that is. Good video, but I will never believe unless I see it that Obama will be arrested no matter what he did.

      I give heavy odds against Hillary being arrested too, but it might be out there in the realm of not likely but possible. Obama, I just do not believe it.

      Can you imagine the civil unrest? The fanboyz would never, ever admit he is a criminal and would go for fast, deep, blood. If there is anything at all left of a functioning government that would kill it.

      I’m not entirely convinced that would be bad.
