    As a child I collected poetry from magazines…cut them out and placed them in scrapbooks. There is one short poem I saved when perhaps 13 or 14….

    “I remember a day
    High-colored and warm
    An innocent day
    That did me no harm.”

    Then the last two lines…

    “And nothing to mark it
    The day before death.”

    I think of that poem most every September 10th in memory of that Monday in 2001…people going about their business, leaving for work, dropping children off at school, picking up the cleaning, having a special breakfast, kissing loved ones goodbye before leaving on a trip, sharing a laugh at lunch with friends, going to Mass at St. Patrick’s, listening to music, maybe falling in love or finding out that your wife is pregnant or getting a coveted job…or just doing all the routine things of every day life….

    And September 11th when thousands died on that shocking and horrible Tuesday morning…2,977 to be exact. We should make it practice when we see the count at 2996 to make a correction. The 19 murdering terrorists who are now in the bottomless pit should be eliminated from the count of the honorable dead.

    As always when I think about the attack words fail me. The older I get, the more lost I am in my thoughts. It is an evil I cannot take in, a loss too huge to coherently deal with.

    I will today remember those lost and their families in prayer.

    This is the interview of Jon Voight on Life Liberty & Levin last night. It was so interesting hearing his thoughts back when he was a Dem and a protester, his conversion to a conservative, and why he supported Trump.

    I saw this shared on FB. If you want school to raise your children, then why in the heck did you have children? All of these before and after school programs are paid for by taxpayers. Why should the rest of us be responsible for your childcare or your children? I along with many others made sacrifices for our children because for one they were our responsibility and for two imo my children were the most important thing I would ever do with my life.
    Parents not wanting to be parents is why our schools are so screwed up.

      My grandsons both go/went to public schools, BUT, my daughter works from home most days, so she can get to school within minutes, and she is very active in her schools and works with her kids every day on their homework. I think it is a good compromise for them.

        I just get sick of hearing parents complain that schools don’t have more free meals, more before and after school programs because it makes it too hard on them to find childcare while they work.

        It’s not like this is the first generation where both parents worked or it was just a single parent who had to work. Previous generations either managed to get jobs around their kids’ school schedule, paid for a babysitter or found a friend or family member to watch their children. Today it’s like they want the school to raise their children and sadly many could care less what they are learning.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
