  1. Morning Everyone 🙂 Happy Labor Day!

Here is a bright and cheery Monday blessing from Lucille for your holiday:

For today’s art image on our extra day off, we have the opposing polo team from yesterday’s illustration 😉

Of course it’s polo so we could celebrate with the sponsor’s Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut champagne, or let’s be realistic, whatever your favorite beverage is. So here’s a fun question – what is everyone’s favorite celebratory beverage? I just found out there is a hot cinnamon liquor! 😮

Maybe the game is in Florida nearby to this amazing art deco store in Cocoa Beach!

and lastly here is another scripture lullaby.

Have a fun & restful day everyone 🙂

I think I driink in degrees of celebration. As in 1st end of a long week- margaritas, 2nd meeting a goal martini or amaretto sour, 3rd a big hoohaw- a realllyyy good bottle of wine. I have never had “good” champagne to know the difference in taste.
Love the colors on that building.
      Happy monday!

A vibrant yellow to start a week expected to be grey: yesterday & today a small low with occasional rain, tomorrow a topical storm with pretty much continual rain and some wind continuing into Wednesday.

there was – maybe still is – a polo club in West Palm just a few miles from our house. Never did get an interest in it – then again our class of people weren’t supposed to.

True story. Back in the mid eighties we visited a plantation house in Nashville that belonged to a man from a prominent and extremely wealthy family who raised polo horses. Or maybe he just trained them, I can’t remember. My husband’s boss was friends with him, he was out of town and invited us to use his home while he was gone.

On the way in we see this lovely home and my husband thought it was the mansion. No says his boss, that’s the caretaker’s house. “I could be a caretaker” my husband said.

Another really nice house. The maid’s place. “”I could be a maid.”

Then a huge wonderful building, immaculate. It’s the horse barn. You cannot tell it is a barn from outside at all. It had floors, not dirt, and it was air conditioned. Since I was selling very high quality millwork at the time, I could tell the windows (in every very large stall) were top quality.

You got it, my husband decided he could be a horse.

Finally we got to the mansion, which was beautiful and full of tasteful furnishings but it wasn’t nearly as large as the horse barn. In actual value, I’d bet the barn and horses were worth a lot more than the old mansion.

It sure was a lovely place, situated on a prime piece of land along the river. It was a wonderful place. One that my class of people rarely get invitations to.

  2. Here’s something fun to try on your lazy day holiday 🙂
I actually heard of this a couple of years ago, but purposely refused to find out how to make them, however I’ve now relented, and post this for the gastronomic enjoyment of all our Stellars – both the bacon and the carbo fans! 😉

    Bacon Fried Doughnuts!

    from www ohbiteit com

    What you’ll need:
    glazed doughnuts
thin cut maple bacon – about 4 slices per doughnut
    oil for frying (Canola)
    toothpicks

    Directions:
Simply wrap each doughnut with the bacon slices, and secure the end with a toothpick.
(TOG&C Comment – I would not overlap the bacon too much in order to make sure it is cooked to an even doneness)

Fry them up in about 2″ of hot (350 degree oil) until the bacon is golden and crispy.

Let them cool for a minute and they will firm up… But definitely eat them warm, because…warm & gooey mouth heaven! Each doughnut is snuggled tight with crispy fried bacon that literally self-glazes as it’s fried, gloriously gluing itself to each and every moist, sweet, bite of this doughnut!

Isn’t it nice to know such a wonderful treat is soooo easy – AUGGHHH! NO!
I must admit I feel a little evil posting this recipe! 😉

We have fairs going on in CA and theres always tons of articles about fair food. This is the first new thing. A puffle cone. Its basically a waffle but puffy and made with egg so richer. Its some kind of a big deal but we keep our ice cream simple. Fun if you find it though. Theres an earl grey with lavender flavor too.

Joke Of The Day (follows this week’s general topic):

Moishe meets Arnold at their social club and asks how Abe’s funeral went the other day.

“It went OK, Moishe,” replied Arnold, “but at the end of the Rabbi’s eulogy, I had to try and stop myself from laughing aloud.”

    “Why was that?” asks Moishe.

“Well,” says Arnold, “throughout his marriage to Miriam, she was always telling me what a mean man he was. He never had a steady job and the money he brought home to her wasn’t enough for food and clothing, let alone holidays. Yet he drank heavily and often stayed out all night gambling. Altogether, a good husband he was not. But at the funeral, the Rabbi spoke of how wonderful the deceased was – so considerate, so beloved, so thoughtful to others. Then, when the Rabbi had finished, I heard Miriam say to one of her children, “Do me a favor, David, go see whether it’s your father in the coffin.”

As I posted next door, in anticipation of the upcoming rain event, yesterday we thought it was a good idea for me to service the septic system. During a heavy rain the groundwater can seep into the tanks, flood the system and cause a backup.
L went out and took the tank cover off, reached in and decoupled the pump, pulled it out and cleaned the screen – tough part is reaching in to place the 5-pound pump on the end of about 5 feet of PVC pipe and redoing the coupling with one hand.
My primary fear is falling into a tank full of our own….stuff…and drowning, sort of how I think it must be becoming a Democrat.

A Funeral For A World That Never Was

    http://www.atimes.com/article/a-funeral-for-a-world-that-never-was//

…The bright line in American policy divides the utopians who believe that America’s mission is to bring free markets and liberal democracies to the benighted, backward nations of the world, and realists like Trump.

Senator McCain threw his support to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in the expectation that it would become a vehicle for Muslim democracy; Donald Trump proposed to insulate America from the problems of the Muslim world.

McCain and Bush are Mainline Protestants, which is to say Wilsonian missionaries. Mitt Romney is the Mormon variety of the same thing. The Never-Trump neoconservatives, like Bill Kristol, John Podhoretz and the late Charles Krauthammer, played Sancho Panza to Bush’s Don Quixote.

Trump rose to the top in the Republican primaries when he proposed to freeze immigration from some Muslim-majority countries, a stark declaration that America’s safety is what matters, not the fate of nations on the other side of the world…

    Story that horrified me:

In July 2013, more than 30 million Egyptians – a majority of the adult population – demonstrated against the country’s Muslim Brotherhood government. Under General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Egypt’s military took control of the country, which was nearly out of food. Al-Sisi saved Egypt from starvation and chaos.

Senator McCain sadly denounced the military takeover as a violation of the democratic process. Technically speaking it was a coup against an elected government, although under emergency conditions and with massive and visible popular support. So beguiled was McCain with the prospect of a democratic Islamic regime that he never accepted that his illusion had vanished.

Sometime later I spoke with George W. Bush’s Director of Central Intelligence, General Michael Hayden. “We were sorry that [Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed] Morsi was overthrown” in July 2013, Hayden explained. “We wanted to see what would happen when the Muslim Brotherhood had to take responsibility for picking up the garbage.”

“General,” I remonstrated, “when Morsi was overthrown, Egypt had three weeks of wheat supplies on hand. The country was on the brink of starvation!” “I guess that experiment would have been tough on the ordinary Egyptian,” Hayden replied.

He wasn’t joking. The ideological commitment of the Establishment to a new global order made facts irrelevant. If things weren’t that way, they should have been that way.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
