  2. Here for TundraPA are the Franz Maec horses: The first is a postcard he painted and sent! What a great card to get!

then there is a large blue horse painting he is famous for, but when I saw his “Little Blue Horse” I had to post it instead πŸ™‚

I really like the color combination in his “Lenggries Horses”

and this is another painting he is famous for: “Red Horses Grazing Horses Iv., 1911”

    Have a great day everyone!

Has anyone ever been in a caucus state? It is an idea being floated around by conservative groups in my state and I’m not real clear on them.

I fully agree the Oklahoma GOP needs to do something different, the short time frame people can switch parties before elections and the short time period people can register to vote hurt us this year thanks to the medical marijuana state question and OEA/teachers. Many are calling us Oklafornia and I’ve felt the same since the primary and even more so after the runoff results came in.

However I don’t want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire. So is it easy to manipulate a caucus?

I remember a little about the states who had a caucus during the Presidential election and wasn’t real impressed.

My personal opinion is we need our party to stop with the farce they don’t take sides while in the background they’re funding the worst candidates. They need to hold candidates accountable to our platform, if they can’t even be against abortion and taxes then they have no reason running as a Republican. The rules need to be changed as well on when people can change their registration. I know for a fact before the primaries the OEA were getting teachers and their friends and families to either register or change their registration to Republican. Then of course you had the pot people who were registering voters and they only cared about voting for pot.

I’m sure as few who voted in the runoff was due to the pot people got what they wanted and many conservatives were disgusted with the outcome of the primaries. That left very few of us who are conservative voting, but it left a lot of the teacher mafia voting.

Also not to offend the West Coast conservatives, but in the last 10 years or so we’ve had a flood of West Coast people moving to our state, drawn to our low cost of living. They brought with them their socialism ideas.

13th anniversary of Katrina coming ashore – a rather muted remembrance. Gettin’ to be like Camille and Betsy, farther away you get the fewer and fewer people you have remembering or giving a rat’s butt.

Gulfport/Biloxi got blasted by both of them worse than NOLA. There used to be a gift shop just across 90 on the land side where Camille blew a big tugboat across the beach, across Hwy 90 and into the shop’s lot. Boat stayed there until Katrina and then, like the Gulf-moored casinos, floated further north. Took a lot of those nice beachfront homes with it.

I remember that boat well. It was a major landmark on the Coast for the next 30+ years. I didn’t know Katrina had moved it; I haven’t been back since 2005. Hard to believe it has been nearly 50 years since Camille.

Pre-K we’d go to the casinos for a lunch/dinner and a show. As we left at beach level we’d look at those huge barges floating a monstrous multistory casino and note that each was ‘secured’ to the land by large steel rings looped over some very large steel posts that were driven deep into the shore. They had about what looked like six to eight feet of space to float with the tide before the rings came off and we wondered what would happen were there a hurricane surge.
Flying over Gulfport/Biloxi was amazing – the surge picked these huge monsters up, floated them over hiway 90 and dropped them Many of the homes along the shore that weren’t destroyed by Camille were flattened by Katrina – much of the area from Gulfport to the inlet by Bay St Louis was just wiped clean. The Old Sailor’s Home was still mostly standing but that’s about all you could say about it as a wall of water about 3 stories tall hit it and continued to sweep thru it.
There’s an I-10 rise where 403 (road to Kiln) passes under. The water from the bay pushed north up 403 to the I-10, thru the trees, marsh and houses that were there, northward and left a trash mark ~15-feet up the dirt berm of the overpass. THAT was a storm and I don’t need to see another.

I was gone before the casinos arrived. Can’t even imagine. Gulfport was a quiet little town and the Strip in Biloxi was only a couple of blocks of nightclubs.

I remember it in ’74 but even now it’s not huge, just big. There are a lot of bus trips bringing retirees in for the gambling and there are a lot of the groups from the 70s/80s that cater to them. We also get major shows like Cirque du Soliel that draw.

Doing well Sand πŸ™‚ . Just a lot going on. One would think when the life of a loved one is ending people could put their bulls*t on the back burner for a while being broken doesn’t mean that you have a free pass to be an assh*le. I told someone that and it didn’t go over well. So I said something else, told them i loved them and that they were welcome in my home anytime but they were not allowed to talk about certain people in negative way. Seems that was too tall an order. *shrugs*

Sorry Stella I really couldn’t find alternative words. So I’ll just shut up.

But. If there comes a time when an inverse action occurs and the negativity begins to invade and prosper rather in spite of the light, when the darkness actually decides to maliciously battle the light.

That is the point thatI know I have to walk away. It’s goodbye time. My door is always open when there is proof of change or even willingness to change.
