I love a good farmers market. Its like antiquing. You never know what youll find when its a good one. I like independent fruit stands too. Used to find them everywhere here. Now that groves are dissapearing and dairies are all gone, its harder but happy when I do.
Took kiddo to swim with a friend today. They had a fig tree and we ate them right off the tree. First time for me and they were yummy!
My heirloom tomato, basil, and yellow pepper NEVER grew all summer. Not dead just nothing. Maybe a bigger planter box they can all share? Strawberries produced like gangbusters. I really want a couple apple trees and yep we can grow them here so I may look at which will grow.
I managed to take a car full of donations out of the house. I may have one more to go.
Going to get an early night of sleepin. Happy Monday!

I spent the $85 and bought the TSA PreCheck, so on Friday I go to the NOLA airport (the same one TSA let a rapper’s bodyguard slip thru while he was packing a Glock) and

…slipped right up to the PreCheck line andI bid adieu to a guy I was talking to as he slinked over to the much longer common-flying-folks line.
Big sign says ‘TSA PreCheck does not have to remove shoes or belt’ so I put my briefcase and cellphone in to the xray machine, walk thru the metal detector and BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. My roper boots, made a skin torn from murdered animals whoselives were taken for my dining and fashion amusement. I am told I have to exit, go back to the xray machine, remove my shoes and belt, put them into the xray machine (the PreCheck lines don’t have the little plastic tubs so you have to shove them in) then wait in line for the metal detector again.By the time I got thru the PreCheck line, put my boots and belt on and got to the gate the guy who went to the regulae\r line was there reading the paper.
So yesterday I go to the Dallas airport and instead of going tomy PreCheck line I go to the regular line, put my belt, boots and crap into the plastic tub and zip right thru. Seems a guy with PreChek and a knee replsacvement who went BEEEEEP was being rerunited, with all of his crap, too a full-body scanning machine so that caused a PreCheck delay. I got thru the longer common-folk line faster than a guy I was watching in PeeCheck who was about as close to the head of the line as I was – and Dallas didn’t have the plastic trays at the PreCherck xray machine either.
So I ask one of a gaggle of TSA types who are standing around yacking howvto avoid gettimg stopped at the PreCheck line and the say wear shoes and belts with no metal. “But waiy”, I say, “then I could just zip thru the regular line and save spending $85?!” They just stare blankly at me, blinking.

I didn’t pay for it, but for some reason I have the PreCheck stamp on my ticket. The first time I went through with no problem, back when it first started. Since then, I go to the metal detector and it always beeps. I don’t wear jewelry and have no other metal on me. They try to say it is just a random beep, but they want me to go through the super duper make-you-naked machine which I refuse to do and so get patted down. I am 73 and built pretty much like a bowling ball, so it isn’t that they are excited to see a naked picture of me. But, I don’t know why I always set it off. 😦

Yeah, tney were calling for TSA PreCheck folks who’d had hip, knee of other metallic replsacements to go thru the XXX-rayted machine…again, why the $85?

I just wear ballet slippers, a cotton dress & minimal jewelry. I do refuse the xray machine & insist on a pat down. If they get difficult I start to take my dress off over my head…. stops them every time. I just smile & act overly polite & solicitous. Since I only fly about once a year, I think of it as entertainment!

LOLOLOL I never wear dresses. I might just have to now that you have said that. 😀 When I set off the metal detector, I just very imperiously point with my arm out and in a very loud voice tell them I won’t go through that machine. They used to argue with me, but they don’t when I do that. I call it taking control of the situation.

Yeah, I have TSA PreCheck too. I have to bring so much electronics for work that I end up taking up 5 plastic bins to just my 1 carry-on bag. They x-ray, rerun, cat scan, rerun, the bins a few times calling extra workers to look at the screens and give opinions.
Every time.
In the normal line I do the same, but then also have bins for my shoes, belt, and jacket.

Years ago, I had gone through no problem and was waiting for my bags. The TSA agents were busy whispering and looking serious and then called over more agents, until there about 6 or 8 all looking very serious. I finally realized it was my bag they were looking at and then I knew what the problem was. I had one of those white noise machines that looks like a space ship in my bag. I had actually bought it in an airport. They finally let it go.

I’m POd that neither NOLA nor Love had the plastic bins at the PreCheck sites. You had about 6 inches of rail before your hand goes in and the operator gets to quote on the extent of your arthritis.
Yeah, the electronics. One TSA folk, about one short government training class away from being a BK prep cook, asked me if there were a laptop inside the case I had.I said no, it was a Kindle Fire. The line stopped while he got clarification if a Fire had to be taken out of the casse – never dawned on him that it would bequicker and less inconvenient for all concerned were he just toi say ‘remove it and put it on the line’.

Did that – had one of the jerks at NOLA tell me it had expired. I told him they didn’t expire until the holder expires, what he was looking at was the expiration date on the back side for post-retirement active medical care. I showed him the FRONT where expiration had ‘INDEF’ typed in and he says ‘INDEF’ ain’t a valid date. About then I thought I’d either have to bash his empty head in with my boot I was holding of just give him my Mississippi DL. I chose the DL.

Confirmed: John Brennan Colluded With Foreign Spies to Defeat Trump
https://spectator.org/confirmed-john-brennan-colluded-with-foreign-spies-to-defeat-trump/
The Guardian story is written in a style designed to flatter its sources (they are cast as high-minded whistleblowers), but the upshot of it is devastating for them, nonetheless, and explains why all the criminal leaks against Trump first originated in the British press. According to the story, Brennan got his anti-Trump tips primarily from British spies but also Estonian spies and others. The story confirms that the seed of the espionage into Trump was planted by Estonia. The BBC’s Paul Wood reported last year that the intelligence agency of an unnamed Baltic State had tipped Brennan off in April 2016 to a conversation purporting to show that the Kremlin was funneling cash into the Trump campaign.
Any other CIA director would have disregarded such a flaky tip, recognizing that Estonia was eager to see Trump lose (its officials had bought into Hillary’s propaganda that Trump was going to pull out of NATO and leave Baltic countries exposed to Putin). But Brennan opportunistically seized on it, as he later that summer seized on the half-baked intelligence of British spy agencies (also full of officials who wanted to see Trump lose).
The Guardian says that British spy head Robert Hannigan “passed material in summer 2016 to the CIA chief, John Brennan.” To ensure that these flaky tips leaked out, Brennan disseminated them on Capitol Hill. In August and September of 2016, he gave briefings to the “Gang of Eight” about them, which then turned up on the front page of the New York Times…

Seen on Facebook (my Jewish friend Alex) on why he usually doesn’t listen to NPR:
There were a number of reasons, but the proximate cause was one day a few years back when on the hourly newscast there was a report from their Middle East correspondent. I am paraphrasing but fairly:
“There has been another outbreak in the cycle of violence that besets the Middle East. Two young women, one Jewish and one Arab, were killed today in an explosion in the cafeteria of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.” End of story, on to the next one.
So unless you looked elsewhere you’d never know that what happened was that the Arab woman committed suicide in order to murder the Jew.

You are correct, but if you go to the videos and play them, they are Jeff Sessions. I just thought what he had to say was very interesting.
LikeLiked by 2 people
The only question is, what is the real reason someone is pretending to be Sessions?
If it’s a site such as Spicier who deals with truths humorously, then pretending to be an actual person is not as offensive. However, I’ve always disliked the fact that Twitter allows people to pretend to be famous personages.
Each time a person who is pretending posts a tweet, does he get a thrill out of trying to deceive? I don’t know, of course. But it seems perverse to me.

Another overcast day today. A couple of days ago it was 103 degrees, this morning it’s 58.
Harvest season is in progress here in north central Montana and has been ongoing for about the last three weeks. A large percentage of the crops in the area are winter wheat, spring wheat, miscellaneous beans & lintels, peas, flax, and a little bit of oats and barley. Small farmers have finished harvesting, but larger farms, depending on the crops that were planted, will probably be harvesting for another 3 weeks and that means 3 more weeks of semis and farm equipment on the roads. YeeHaw…not.
it’s been a good season for local gardeners and farmers this summer as there has been less hail than normal and there has been no water shortage . The local weekly farmers market has been brimming with gorgeous produce and a couple weeks ago, I was still able to get beautiful wild raspberries, mountain peaches and Missouri River cantaloupe and they were soooo good. :0)

One of my favorite farmers is Loganberry Heritage Farm. They grow a lot of different types of garlic. It’s just a few miles away, and they have a Garlic Festival every Sept. The lady who sells llama wool always brings a few llamas, another farmer brings a couple of Highland cows, there’s good music and local food from all over. They have a garlic tasting and rating. Even Garlic and Tequila Granitas one year! I’ve got a t-shirt collection.
Hay rides, and homemade everything. A great weekend every year.

Told ya they would….CA senate advancing straw ban. Except for themselves of course!
““This bill is the last straw,” Sen. Jim Nielsen (R-Gerber) said. “This is a first step to the total banning of plastic straws. To me it almost looks silly. I think the negative consequences [of straws] are a bit overstated.”
Sen. Joel Anderson (R-Alpine) said plastic straws are provided in Capitol facilities, including a legislative lounge, and he accused the Senate majority of asking business to “do what we’re not willing to do ourselves.”
But Sen. Bill Monning (D-Carmel) said the proposal will help educate the public about the environmental hazard of plastics that are not biodegradable.
“Let the consumer request it if they want it,” he said.”

We went to see Alpha today. I was ready to leave after about the first 10 minutes. It just seemed to intense and violent. But I am so glad we didn’t. We both loved the movie. This was supposed to be 20,000 years ago. A young boy goes out with his father and others for his first hunt. It goes downhill from there. It is about his struggle to survive. If you should decide to go and see it, be sure to stay until the credits. You don’t want to miss the absolute last scene. I just keep thinking about what happened.

I can think of a lot of reasons you might not want him to see it until he is older. The kid gets beaten up and his father allows it, they go after the buffalo and he is attacked and thrown off a cliff, then his father leaves knowing he could be alive with no way to save him. My son could not have handled this for sure. Oh, and that doesn’t even count the wolves who even scared me. I would advise you to see it first if you think he could handle it. Remember, I said I almost left after the first 10 min or so because it was too gruesome.

I think the part that would have bothered my son at five would be that the father left him and went home. It would be very difficult to make him understand the hopelessness of the situation because nowadays it would be possible to do something and save him.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.

Apple orchards all around here will have big barns full of many varieties. In September and October it’s a great Saturday trip to take. Unless it’s on one of their festival weekends, then half of Georgia is all trying to park in the same field after driving in on a two lane road for forty miles. 😀

Nice. We have 2 places to drive for what kiddo calls “apple-ing”. But for us, mid October and we have to be aware of fire season. We missed last year. Will go this time and a u pick pumpkin patch too. I would LOVE to experience a real fall again.

Same here. We have a big festival in Romeo, MI for the peach harvest, and all kinds of activities during the apple harvest – plenty of opportunities for family fun.

Michigan has a huge cherry festival in Traverse City early every July. Did you know that Michigan grows more sour cherries than anybody? Cherries and peaches are favorites.
