    Good morning, everyone! This week’s theme is classic cars, in honor of the world’s largest one-day car show, The Woodward Dream Cruise in metro Detroit! It is a street show, free to the public, attracting more than one million people for the one-day event, although cruisers show off their cars on Woodward Avenue all week. In my backyard, so I might as well enjoy it! The big event is next Saturday, August 18.

    Today is Wooly’s first day in rehab/detox, so let’s all say a prayer for him, and keep him in our thoughts. I’m praying that an angel will take him under his wing during this tough time.

    Hi ya’ll! I’m back from sunny Florida without the usual sunburn, but my feet and legs are sore from being walked for miles! Fort Walton Beach is such a really nice place, I couldn’t recommend it more. We ate a lot of fish, and drank a few fancy cocktails. I watched a boat come in with the biggest tuna I’ve ever seen. I floated down a lazy river. And I got a tattoo! A sweet little Chinese dragon on my forearm. It’s a shame he’s not permanent, he’s really grown on me, lol.

    Oh well, now I’m un-packing, sore, and my critters are so glad I’m home! They have glued themselves to momma, and even follow me to the potty. You’d think DH beat them the whole time I was away. Even the parrots are screeching with joy!

    It’s good to be home, I’ve missed whatever happened to Wooly, but I’m glad he’s gone for help, and I’m praying for him. He has such a good heart!

    Had this draft set up, so I’ll post it before we start other breeds, Today’s horse is the Belgium Draft – considered a “compact” draft at an average 1 ton and 16 to 17 hands! There is a Belgium Draught Horse called Radar who has reached is 19.35 (a hand is 4″). The Belgium Draft or Brabant is a large, powerful and good looking horse and is often used for pulling large loads. This is a compact horse who is immensely strong and muscular and is used for the pulling and for working in the field. It is also called the Brabant after the area in Belgium where it comes from. Their colors are Chestnut, bay, brown, red roan, grey, sorrel and dun. h/t equestrianandhorse dot com

    I do not know the breed of the horse below, but it may be a Belgium. It is by James Ward, and I really like it:

    and this was just funny, so I had to put it in. I don’t think this horse is big from bone structure and muscle however! Hahaha 😉

    One of those (dismissive tone) ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah’ moments but when I think back to my old northern Alabama days I emember how many early thru mid-50s Fords and Chevys we totaled in demolition derbies. We weren’t about winning, too many more pro drivers to even try to beat, but just out the thrills of driving an old car around a dirt track and getting the tar beaten out of you in multiple crashes.
    Now that ‘junk’ we drove and bought for pennies is a treasure. Best I can say is we helped make the ones you see ‘treasures’ by thinning the numbers.

      Most of them were real rust buckets too. When I was first married, we drove a 1957 Chevy, 3-speed on the column. The metal around the headlights was so badly rusted out that we held them in with aquarium cement. When we finally replaced that car, we had a sledge hammer party, and sent it to the dump.

        DH & I recently had a discussion when I said I did not understand how libs think suicide should be legal, but you have to do it THEIR way. If you do it the quick and easy way (you know what they hate) they think it’s awful. Once again it’s about CONTROL – NOT choice. They won’t let an older person stay in their home to die as they choose – NOPE – you have to be forced into a nursing home, but somehow they say they are for “choice”.

      Do a search on Justina Pelletier. her family is now suing Boston Children’s Hospital. This is not the 1st time Children’s has done something like this. Once a child is taken from parents, and put in the care of the state of Mass. they can become, I believe the phraase is, “participants” in medical trials.

      And these huge hospitals are buying out small hospitals. or just moving into an area, and putting them out of business.

      Mayo is supposed to be THE hospital to go to for all kinds of medical conditions and procedures. Well, unless it is a life-threatening situation where going to another hospital in the city would take too much time, you wouldn’t get me in that fascist place. Horrifying!

      And the doctors, et al. didn’t even bother going to their own department which would have assisted in resolving the conflict. Disgusting!

    I was reading this article and I guess I kind of get it, but I know we have two liberals to choose from for governor and honestly do not see the lesser of two evils from these two. I had decided to just leave it blank in the runoff and vote for the conservatives down the ballot. In the general I had decided to vote for the 3rd party guy now I see one of them on FB defending transgenders in school bathrooms. I can’t vote for a person like that, which is why I always end up having issues in the end with Libertarians, they’re just as bad as liberals on social issues. I also keep seeing them rooting on legalizing recreational pot. I have never been so disgusted and ready to not vote at all in an election in my lifetime. I honestly never thought I would see the day when our choices were all liberals in my state. It’s like asking me to vote to cut off my right hand or my left hand, either way I’m going to lose a hand.
