  5. Morning all! Thank you so much much for your prayers. I am sincerely grateful for them 🙂

Good thing I had these all set up ahead of time. For once having insomnia paid off!
Todays painting is Mermaids from Peter Pan (1913) by Flora White – an artist I was unfamiliar with until this series:

Then we have our Blaschka Hydractinia echinata or Snail Fur

and another lovely animal (I almost wrote plant!) that is almost see – through

and we finish with the cover photo of the book about the Harvard Blaschka collection, which is I believe a top down photo of a sea anemone

There were few lavendar color creatures to choose from, but I wanted to get as large a variety of colors in the series as I could- enjoy!

Thanks again for the prayers. I belive in the power of prayer 🙂 Have to run – busy days ahead. Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Roger Simon has moved to Tennessee. Here’s how it’s different from California. Tennessee requires a photo i.d. AND a voter registration card.

Voting Early but Not Often in Nashville

    https://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/voting-early-but-not-often-in-nashville/

Forget that such photo IDs are mandatory for all U.S. citizens and foreigners when they get on a plane, among literally dozens of activities, when it comes to voting this requirement is regarded as racist by our supposedly progressive friends.

Actually, as with so many “politically correct” assertions, the reverse is true. The implication behind this argument is that minority citizens — unlike the rest of us — are either too stupid or too lazy to obtain either driver’s licenses or non-driver identity cards that are available gratis in every state in the union. How insulting and, to be blunt, racist.

It’s also a not-so-subtle stratagem for manipulation. I know because I engaged in it. Back in the civil rights movement (1966), I was doing voter registration in South Carolina. We would bring cotton pickers in from the fields to register, many of whom, in those days, were illiterate. So we… I… would sign for them after their X and when asked which party they were registering for I would, naturally, fill in “Democrat” for them without even asking. What a despicable thing to do!

    Old Prosecutors Speaking Frankly

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/07/old_prosecutors_speaking_frankly.html#.W13GPXnshbQ.facebook

About once a year the Society of Old Prosecutors meets in a private libation spot the name of which I am honor bound not to disclose. We met to discuss the week’s events and, as long as I don’t name the participants, I was given permission to share some of the talk. (Given the mad-dog operations of the Special Counsel some feared that to publicly state their views they’d be subject to midnight FBI raids with their nightgown-garbed wives rousted from bed and felt up by armed agents, or all their assets seized and their private correspondence unrelated to anything handed over to Democratic spinners like Lanny Davis to be megaphoned on CNN.) …

    Lockheed Martin’s Compact Fusion Reactor
By Lt. Col. (res.) Dr. Raphael Ofek
    July 29, 2018

    https://besacenter.org/perspectives-papers/lockheed-martins-compact-fusion-reactor/

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Lockheed Martin recently registered a patent on a revolutionary design of a Compact Fusion Reactor (CFR), a mobile device small enough to be mounted on a truck. One version is designed to produce 100 megawatts, enough to power a city of 100,000 people. The CFR, which provides clean energy without producing radioactive waste, has both civil and military applications. In principle, it can be installed on large aircraft carriers, submarines, large transport planes, and probably also fighter jets and large drones. If Lockheed Martin’s hopes are realized, the fear of global energy scarcity will become a thing of the past, and mankind will have the benefit of an environment unsullied by energy pollution.

oooo, Stella, an article written in the Mother Tongue! What joy.
Dad always said smaller fusion could be done, was just not yet economically feasible. The article says the costs should be low. Oh, ok.

L/M did it by increasing the strength of the barrier magnetic field as the fusion reaction becomes stronger, but no details as to how that was accomplished. Bummer. But, more to anticipate.

Thanks for the link, Stella. This one made my day (it takes so little to make us happy…)

Good week in NOLA – at about 8:30 last night two hooded gunmen (don’t they know it’s illegal to wear a hood in NOLA?) chased a guy into a crowd and managed to shoot a total of ten people in that crowd. Three dead (apparently they’re including the guy they targeted) and seven injured.
Police are not having much to go on though there are clues. The crowd was gathered in the parking loit a strip mall on South Claiborne right by one of our frozen daiquiri stands and the ‘Watermelon & Chicken’ restaurant (no kidding look it up: https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/local/orleans/new-orleans-shooting-3-dead-7-injured-after-gunmen-open-fire-at-strip-mall/289-578344407). Shooters ran away into MLK Blvd.
NOPD has warned those injured not to take this into their own hands, just as soon as NOPD gets out from under its latest embroglio ( two NOPD cops off duty in a bar beat the living hell out of a Latino guy because he was wearing a camo shirt they thought wass inappropriate and thsat he wasn’t a ‘real American’ – turns out he was a vet). In the meantime they want us to trust them.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

  14. I still can’t believe Ed Sheeran made the best blues song I’ve ever heard.

Listened to this at least ten times today. Still doing so. Make it rain.

My favorite woman in the world got fired this morning. Been hanging out with her and her kitchen crew every night for many months. I’m not real happy about this development.

Then again I saw Ed in an orchestra, just in a pan of the orchestra, playing a cello… I think for Rosalia Gomez Lasheras doing Chopin’s PC#2, so it shouldn’t be surprising that he can do good blues. May have been Rachmaninoff’s PC#2, though, can’t remember.
